Chapter 85: The grief of a mother
Chapter 85: The grief of a mother
Bai Meiyue felt thrilled when she saw that Chen Yuya had turned into a zombie. In her last life, Chen Yuya was fortunate enough to get enough care and zombie nucleus when she was bitten by a zombie. Because of that, she was able to awaken as a supernatural being.@@@@
Chen Yuya was frail to begin with; if not for the fact that Bai Xue didn’t trust Bai Meiyue and wanted another option for herself, she would have never handed the zombie nuclei to Chen Yuya.
Though a few ordinary people were able to turn into supernatural beings, in the end it came down to their own immunity system and physical fitness. Only those whose bodies were able to withstand the doomsday virus were able to turn into supernatural beings.
In the third month of the apocalypse, the government officials who established bases announced that more than 8 billion people turned into zombies and only about 0.1 percent of people were able to turn into supernatural beings. As for the rest, they remained normal citizens and relied on the strength of others.
They also released the information that, if dealt with properly, the virus can be contained through zombie nuclei and proper care, which could help people to awaken into supernatural beings.
Of course this was more or less a gambling strategy.
The truth was that no matter how many zombie nuclei a person absorbed, in the end it all came down to a person’s physical fitness. The zombie nuclei could at most aid in making the entire process a bit more seamless.
But even this gamble strategy made the ordinary people charge into the battle all for the sake of getting bitten by the zombies. Ordinary people who got bitten tried their best to overcome the virus and its properties, while the supernatural beings who got bitten tried to purify the virus. While some managed to purify and mutate their powers, some ended up dying as they lost their powers altogether. It was a fifty-fifty chance for every person.
And it was due to this theory that Chen Yuya rushed to get bitten by a zombie.
She was about to leave when someone screamed behind her. Surprised, she turned around and saw Mother Chen, who was running down the corridor while screaming.
"SU HU!"
Bai Meiyue smiled when she heard the woman scream Su Hu’s name. She turned on her feet and stepped to one side before running out of the ward. She thought that Mother Chen would chase right after her but she rushed to the corpse lying on the ground.
Even though it was quite clear that something was wrong with Chen Yuya, Mother Chen paid no heed to it. She looked at her daughter, whose head was split open and shouted, "Su Hu! You will pay for this! Someone call the police!"
"My daughter loved you so much that she fell into this tragic situation; why did you have to kill her!?"
The woman screamed with a heartbroken voice but the more she screamed, the more satisfied and pleased Bai Meiyue became. When her son died, she was just as upset as Mother Chen was at the moment. What did she say back then?
Yeah. That the brat was already dead, and she might as well pay attention to those who were alive, as it was her responsibility to take care of those who were still breathing.
Back then, Mother Chen had stood on the moral high ground, right next to Su Hu and condemned her. Now how did it feel? The loss of one’s child? Was it just as simple as Mother Chen made it sound like when she scolded Bai Meiyue for not caring about the lives and deaths of others after Bai Cai’s disappearance?
