Chapter 86: Meeting Lu Ling again
With her appearance back to normal, Bai Meiyue didn’t stop nor did she look back. As she ran, she hunted down other zombies who were attacking others. She maximised the use of her speed and strength and chopped down the zombies with her dagger. Unlike others, she did not waste her time fighting with these zombies; she cut down their heads.
As long as their heads exploded, the rest of the being would die without any fight. Because the number of zombies at the beginning of the apocalypse was still a bit less, Bai Meiyue was done dealing with them in a matter of a few minutes.
Bai Meiyue looked down at her clothes that were covered in zombie blood and frowned in disgust. She felt nauseous when she smelt the rotten smell but somehow managed to calm herself down. She was about to turn around and leave when a man who was almost bitten by the zombie rushed out of his hiding spot and shouted,
"Bai Meiyue! You can’t leave; you need to protect me."
Bai Meiyue paused and turned around when she heard the familiar voice. She looked at the man who stood behind her and questioned, "For what reason?"@@@@
"For the reason that I am here because of you!" Lu Ling, who was supported by Xie Yi, glared at Bai Meiyue.
He was the husband of one of the richest women of the city. As a result, he had long learnt to act domineering, not to mention it was Bai Meiyue who was the cause of his tragedy. This woman promised him an antidote and only delivered half of it; as for the rest, she did not bother with it, causing half of his life to leave his body.
Before the doomsday broke, he called Xie Yi and asked him to bring as much money and weapons as possible. Lu Ling wanted to use the last batch of this stock and buy rations from country A. But before he could, chaos erupted all around him and humans turned into weird beasts!
"Ah, will she?" Bai Meiyue curled her lips coldly. She then raised the dagger in her hand and sneered, "Will she really help you when she finds out what kind of person you are and the things that you have done behind her back?"
Lu Ling’s face turned pale when he realised that Bai Meiyue was not joking. He wanted to run away but before he could, Bai Meiyue stepped forward and clutched him around his throat. She sneered and said, "I was giving you face when I let you live the last time. But it seems like you do not love your life that much. Do you think that I was joking when I gave you that poison?"
Faced with Bai Meiyue’s threats, he turned to look at Xie Yi and said to him, "S—Save me."
How dare Xie Yi save this man who provoked this Goddess of Death? Even if he was a lowly thug and never went to school, he knew when to act servile and when to act tough. Yet Lu Ling, this fool! He actually said such words to this woman instead of pleading with her.
"You are afraid now? Were you not really brave when you bullied me when I was working in your company? You even joined hands with my father to send me to the bed of that investor. I am just eighteen years old. Eighteen! I haven’t even seen the world and yet you did such a doglike thing to me."
Lu Ling’s voice trembled as he begged for her forgiveness humbly.
Bai Meiyue sneered, "If I don’t teach you a profound lesson. Won’t you come to bother me again in the future?"
Recalling the harsh days she had to live under this man, Bai Meiyue felt a sense of frustration and anger in her heart. Like a flood that broke through a dam, her rage could no longer be controlled and she hurled the man in the direction of the corridor where the zombies were coming from.
