Chapter 1051 - 1050: As You Wish
Chapter 1051 - 1050: As You Wish
The gunshot rang out, but Chu Ge remained unmoved, his lips still slightly curved up, his gaze fixed on the gunman's eyes, unscathed. The gunman's hand was steady, continuously aiming at Chu Ge's heart, and he indeed pulled the trigger.
But just a second prior, the sound echoing in the air was not the short, forceful, and piercing "bang" of a bullet firing, but a "click."
Chu Ge shrugged, "I told you, you can't fool me with this thing. Yet you insist on putting on such a show. Is it fun?"
The gunman flicked his left hand, smoothly tossing the gun into the burning Grand Cherokee. As the handgun spun, turning into a streak of black light, he stared at Chu Ge and spoke calmly.
"Are you so sure there are no bullets in the gun?"
Chu Ge pursed his lips, as though belittling the man's question, "Nonsense, otherwise why would I just stand here and let you shoot?"
When the three men descended from the car, Chu Ge had already noted the gun, a Glock 17 with a magazine capacity of nineteen bullets, and the shot that hit the taxi tire was the nineteenth bullet.
During the chase with the Grand Cherokee and while dodging bullets, Chu Ge concluded that only one enemy inside had a gun. Judging by the shooting frequency, he didn't think they reloaded or changed magazines during this time.
The man in the center opposite Chu Ge nodded, "Alright, if we can't reach an agreement, let's solve it in a more direct way."
With those words, he gripped his Tang knife, launching directly at Chu Ge. Though he exchanged no words or glances with his companions, as he moved, the other two wielded knives and charged at Chu Ge.
Originally lined up horizontally facing Chu Ge, they now formed a vertical line, with the speaker in front, the other two closely behind. From Chu Ge's angle, only the first man was visible, the other two concealed by the first. Their footsteps echoed uniformly.
Swoosh!
In an instant, the first knife sliced diagonally downward, Chu Ge leaned back to dodge, just as the second attacker seemed to appear out of thin air, swiftly slashing toward Chu Ge's waist.
Though his body was leaning back, Chu Ge twisted strangely, his right leg tracing an arc, kicking into the empty right side.
Subsequently, Chu Ge's right toe struck fiercely onto the third man's high-raised wrist, about to land, appearing as though the third man collided into Chu Ge's attack intentionally.
The wrist injured, the third man's right fingers instinctively loosened, releasing the Tang knife, which fell downward.
Despite the angle obscuring the actions of the two adversaries behind, Chu Ge didn't solely rely on his eyes for judgment. His combat experience and sharp hearing were also assets.
As Chu Ge's almost anticipated kick disarmed the third man's Tang knife, the Tang knives in the hands of the first two men swung back into action.
One knife, reversed upward, targeted Chu Ge's left rib, while the other aimed straight at Chu Ge's heart.
It must be said, the speed of these two strikes was impressive, their coordination remarkable, without conflict even in the proximity of combat.
More crucially, if Chu Ge evaded, they could exploit a timing gap, allowing their companion to retrieve the dropped Tang knife and resume attacking Chu Ge.
Their plan was solid, realistically sound, but unfortunately... this time, their opponent was Chu Ge.
Kicking the enemy's wrist, Chu Ge didn't follow the anticipated evasion from the two strikes. Instead, he slipped his body, abruptly falling backward to the ground, dodging both strikes while completing a hanging upside-down kick with his right foot, striking the Tang knife hilt in mid-air.
Originally falling at a thirty-degree angle, the Tang knife's trajectory altered immediately upon Chu Ge's hanging kick, like an arrow released, accompanied by a sharp wind, flying towards one enemy's thigh.
Thud!
The sound of the blade penetrating flesh abruptly rang out, the seventy centimeters of blade burying entirely into an enemy's thigh, leaving only the hilt tightly against the thigh.
"Ah!"
A scream tore through the night sky, eerie and hair-raising, suggesting the excruciating pain endured by the man.
"滴答"
The shining blade piercing through the man's thigh glowed with an eerie crimson, as a drop of blood slipped down the tip of the knife to the ground.
At that moment, Chu Ge swiftly rolled on the spot, positioning himself in front of the man. He forcefully pushed off the ground with both hands, his feet kicking upward into the man's chest. As the man staggered back several steps from the kick, Chu Ge quickly yanked out the knife embedded entirely into the man's thigh, gripping the handle tightly in reverse, and forcefully flicked it upward.
"Clang!"
The sound of steel clashing against steel echoed, producing a sharp screech that sent a shiver down one's spine. The tip of Chu Ge's blade caught the body of another blade, narrowly deflecting an attack directed at his back.
In that fleeting instant, the Tang knife meant to strike Chu Ge's back didn't touch him at all. The blade's "buzzing" vibration seemed to express the wielder's unwillingness, or perhaps it mourned for the man whose right leg had been pierced entirely by the blade.
With a single maneuver, Chu Ge deflected the deadly strike from behind. His right foot thrust fiercely against the ground, his foot, leg, and waist exerting force simultaneously. His body spun abruptly, turning quickly like a top. The Tang knife in his right hand traced a bold and sweeping arc of silvery brightness, and he stood up once again.
The flash of the blade's edge cast off the crimson stains, making the knife seem even brighter.
Though it may sound complicated, from the moment Chu Ge kicked one opponent's wrist to seizing the Tang knife and completing an almost 360-degree circular slash, forcing his enemies to briefly halt their attack, all this transpired in merely a few blinks of an eye.
He remained unscathed, while three of his adversaries had one with their weapon seized, one with a thigh wound bleeding incessantly and nearly severed by his recent strike, reducing their combat effectiveness by at least half.
What the... hell...
Inside the taxi, Su Yuanke's eyes widened, resembling two glowing bulbs, his mouth agape. He stared blankly at the scene not far away. Even though it unfolded right before his eyes, he still felt bewildered about what had just happened and found it hard to believe his own eyes.
Even though Su Yuanke had realized Chu Ge's probably formidable combat skills when Chu Ge captured that flying insect with his eyes closed, he hadn't expected Chu Ge to be this powerful.
At this moment, fleeing alone wasn't on his mind anymore. With Chu Ge standing there, his safety was surely guaranteed. Why would he need to run?
Beyond that, Su Yuanke also realized he likely misunderstood Chu Ge earlier. This guy seemed to have no malicious intent towards him.
Otherwise, Chu Ge wouldn't have refrained from doing anything to him earlier. Nor would he have engaged in such ruthless combat with the others, given that both the three people who emerged from the Grand Cherokee and Chu Ge himself were fighting to the death, evidently bent on killing each other.
On one hand, Su Yuanke pondered Chu Ge's true purpose for seeking him out; on the other, the battle between Chu Ge and the three men was far from over.
"Who exactly are you?"
The man who had previously confronted Chu Ge with a gun spoke, still the only one whose combat capability remained unaffected, still holding a weapon and unscathed.
Though it wasn't the first time he asked this question, his tone and expression had changed drastically, no longer calm and indifferent, but now tinged with anger and urgency.
Chu Ge sneered, raising the Tang knife in his hand, pointing it straight at the man. "You've already asked that question once. If you want me to answer, shouldn't you first answer mine? Who are you?"
The man furrowed his brow. "Does it really matter that much to you who we are?"
"Of course, it matters, it's very important," Chu Ge nodded as a matter of course. "If I didn't have some skills, you'd have killed me long ago. Given that, don't you think the answer to this question is crucial to me?"
The man's brow furrowed tighter. "As I said, our target is Su Yuanke. The fight between us is meaningless. Do you really want to meddle in this affair?"
"It's not about wanting to meddle, I'm already involved. Words are pointless now; fight or leave, choose a path for yourselves."
Hearing Chu Ge's words, the man frowned thoughtfully for a few seconds and then spoke sternly, "Alright, if you're so eager to die, then as you wish."
With that, he turned his head to glance at the man who had fallen on the ground with a knife wound to his leg, his expression serious or one might say resolute nodding to him.
The man with the thigh-piercing wound clenched his fists tightly, then suddenly gritted his teeth, quite literally gritting them in determination, his jaw visibly swelling, and soon his body started to convulse violently.
