Chapter 2276: Another World
Chapter 2276: Another World
When Wan Shufang regained consciousness, she was awakened by the sun.
The sun above her head was scorching, making her feel like something was crawling on her face. She tried hard to open her eyes, but the sunlight stung her eyes so much that they hurt, so she quickly lowered her head.
As soon as I stood up, I felt a sharp pain in the back of my neck and dizziness.
How is this going?
She looked down and saw that her hands were filled with fine sand and a tiny lizard had emerged from a shell nearby.
What just crawled across his face was a lizard?
Wan Shufang woke up instantly. She remembered that the ship they were on encountered a storm and the hull was rolling in the waves. Chen Changli held her tightly in his arms. Then there was a tsunami, and what happened after that was a blur.
Wan Shufang calmed herself down.
"Where did Chen Changli go?"
Wan Shufang panicked and quickly stood up. As soon as she turned around, she met a pair of anxious eyes.
"Shufang, how are you?" Chen Changli walked over from not far away, as if he had just returned from the sea. His legs were a little wet and he was holding a sword in his hand.
"I'm fine." Wan Shufang breathed a sigh of relief and said so.
He quickly reached out to support her. Seeing that she was indeed fine, his frown relaxed a little. He then pointed to the wreckage on the waves not far away and said, "I just checked. Our ship is now in pieces and cannot be used at all. Apart from you, I didn't find anyone else alive."
Chen Changli's tone grew more serious. He turned back and pointed at the forest behind him. "I've already looked around. We've never been to this place before. The trees here are so thick, and there are even many animals crawling on the ground that we've never seen before."
"Some have pincers, some have tails, and they look hideous."
Wan Shufang's heart sank, but she didn't panic. She had followed Chen Changli all over the country for many years. What kind of danger had she not encountered?
At least both of them are safe now, and he is by their side.
She calmed herself down and began to look around.
Sure enough, there was a forest further into the beach. When Wan Shufang saw clearly what kind of trees were growing there, her eyes suddenly lit up!
Isn't that a coconut tree?
There are huge coconuts hanging on it one after another. There are also some shrubs next to the coconut trees with green and red fruits hanging on them. Aren’t these mangoes?
It seems that this ship took them to the rainforest?
No wonder Chen Changli said he had never seen it. The Great Yong Dynasty was located in the inland of the Central Plains, so how could it have seen such a rare tropical thing? It was just that she was in the inland and benefited from the times, so she could recognize things from all over the world.
This is not bad. She has been craving these fruits for many years since she came here. Now that she is here, she can finally enjoy a feast.
If you get closer, you can see a few crabs walking on the beach with their legs sideways, as if no one is disturbing them and they are not afraid of people at all.
"Changli, these are mangoes and coconuts, both very delicious fruits." Wan Shufang immediately rushed forward, picked a few mangoes, and placed them in front of him. She then pointed at the coconuts on the tree and said, "Go pick one and I'll teach you how to eat it."
"This thing is so ugly, covered in prickly hair, is it really edible?" Chen Changli asked doubtfully, "Or maybe we should just not try it anymore. If it gets poisoned, there won't be any medicinal herbs here."
Hearing this, Wan Shufang couldn't help but laugh and quickly stepped forward to push him: "Just trust me this time, I promise I won't poison you to death."
"it is good."
Chen Changli hesitated for a moment, then used his lightness skills to quickly climb up the tree and picked a heavy coconut.
As he weighed the object in his hand, he wondered more and more how this ugly thing could be eaten. Not only was it covered in thorns, it was also hard to the touch.
"Don't be impatient, try this first." Wan Shufang peeled the mango skin with her fingernails and handed one to him: "Try it and you will know whether I am lying to you."
Chen Changli nodded, then took it and tasted it. The mellow, sweet and fragrant taste instantly exploded in his mouth, and his eyes widened immediately.
"There are such sweet and delicious fruits in this world."
"This is called mango. Although the core is a bit big, the flesh is rich. Eat it slowly. There is still a lot over there." Wan Shufang took two bites, took the coconut from his hand, bent down, picked up a stone, and smashed it hard.
Soon she punched a hole in the top of the coconut and said, "There's coconut water inside. Let's not eat it, just drink the coconut water. The coconut water is fragrant and sweet. The coconut meat inside can also be eaten, but this one is a little old."
Wan Shufang took two sips of the coconut and felt as if all the fatigue in her body was washed away.
Seeing her drink it, Chen Changli also took a taste, his eyes suddenly brightened a little: "This taste is really comparable to that nectar."
"Besides these, have you seen those shrimps, crabs, and fish on the ground?" Wan Shufang stroked her chin, teasing, "These are the delicacies we don't have over there. They don't need any other seasonings. Just build a fire, roast them, and sprinkle some salt on them. They're so delicious and fragrant."
As he spoke, his stomach began to growl. They had been drifting for so long without eating and were already starving.
Unexpectedly, at this moment, a deafening roar of a beast was heard not far away, and the faces of both of them changed.
"It's getting dark. We have to find a hiding place and light some torches." Chen Changli said solemnly.
Wan Shufang nodded, quickly took out a lighter from the space, and asked Chen Changli to collect some dry branches. The two of them lit a bonfire against the rocks on the shore.
The fire was burning so well that Wan Shufang asked Chen Changli to pick up some shrimps and crabs, wrapped them in coconut leaves and roasted them over the fire, adding some simple seasonings from the space. In an instant, the tempting aroma spread for miles.
Even the usually steady Chen Changli felt a slight rumble in his stomach. As if sensing his embarrassment, Wan Shufang quickly skewered a bunch of shrimp and handed it to him, "Try it?"
Chen Changli looked at the ugly shrimp with so many claws. He hesitated for a moment before taking it and taking a taste of it. The firm shrimp meat mixed with the wood-roasted aroma instantly exploded on his taste buds.
A delicious fragrance that he had never tasted before filled his lips.
This bug looks so ugly, but tastes so delicious!
He looked up at the woman in front of him in surprise, and saw Wan Shufang concentrating on roasting mangoes with her head down. She sprinkled some sugar on the edges, and the mangoes gave off a burnt aroma.
"When I was in the south, I learned a few tricks from a local chef." Wan Shufang handed him the roasted mango and looked at him with a smile: "It comes in handy when dealing with these new things."
Chen Changli took a bite and found that the sweetness of the mango was made more intense by the charcoal fire, with a slight bitterness of caramel, and rich layers of flavor.
He ate in silence, watching Wan Shufang's silhouette busy by the fire. The fear of the unknown in his heart was completely dispelled by the smell of fireworks.
After filling their stomachs and drinking some coconut water, the two of them leaned against the rocks to rest.
The sun gradually set in the west, and the roars of beasts in the forest were still intermittent, but farther away.
