Chapter 1876 Dog Egg is Dead!
Chapter 1876 Dog Egg is Dead!
The village chief has already prepared new quilts, rice containers, and water containers, and quoted a very reasonable price.
Zhang Ran paid directly with her cash.
Seeing how generous she was, the village chief couldn't stop smiling and asked his wife to help carry the things onto the cart and take them to the school.
He pulled from the front while his wife pushed from behind, not letting Zhang Ran lift a finger.
Zhang Ran was happy to have some free time and followed the cart slowly towards school.
Halfway there, they encountered a man who looked flustered.
"Village chief! Something terrible has happened!" The man rushed to the village chief who was pulling the cart.
"What is it?" The village chief stopped and looked at the man to ask.
"Dog Egg is dead!"
"What the heck?" The village chief was shocked and quickly asked for the reason.
"His mother said he went to bed very early last night, but when he woke up this morning he was nowhere to be found. She was frantic and searched everywhere for him all day. Finally, she found him at the bottom of a hillside with a broken neck and no breath!"
The village chief quickly turned to Zhang Ran and said urgently, "Take the things back yourself! I have to go to Gou Dan's house!"
The three people left in a hurry.
Zhang Ran called out to their retreating figures, "Village Chief! If you need any help, just come to the school and find me!"
Once they were out of sight, the smile on Zhang Ran's face vanished abruptly, but the corners of her mouth slowly turned up.
Everyone had left, so she could only put on a rope and pull the cart toward the school.
Going uphill was difficult, but going downhill was very easy. Fortunately, we were already very close to the school.
She arrived at the school gate a dozen minutes later, and before she even saw anyone, she called out, "Xiaoqin! Xiaoqin! Come and help!"
Fu Qin, who was eating, heard Zhang Ran's voice, quickly put down her bowl, and hurriedly ran out.
Seeing her hurried figure, Teacher Jiang put down her bowl and chopsticks and followed her out.
Outside the school gate.
Seeing Fu Qin running out, Zhang Ran immediately explained, "I bought new quilts and a water vat from the village chief. Come and help me. You carry the quilts, but the water vat and rice vat are quite heavy, so I'll carry them."
Without saying a word, Fu Qin went up and picked up the quilt.
At this moment, Teacher Jiang also came out, glanced at the things on the cart, and immediately went to help. He chose to move the lighter rice jar and left the water jar for Zhang Ran.
The water vat was very heavy; most men couldn't lift it, and it took two or three adult men to lift it together.
But when he saw Zhang Ran easily lift it up, he looked away, picked up the rice jar, and followed behind.
The rice container was placed in the corner of the dormitory, and the water container was placed directly next to the earthen stove outside.
Fu Qin put down the blanket and looked at Zhang Ran, asking with concern, "Have you eaten? Since you haven't come back yet, I ate first."
"I've already eaten at the principal's house," Zhang Ran explained, then added, "You guys eat."
Fu Qin picked up her rice bowl again and ate while nagging Zhang Ran: "You've been to quite a few houses with the principal, haven't you? Many girls have come to register for school. There's a girl named Xinghua who's so pitiful. I brought a lot of clothes and gave her two of my everyday clothes."
"The clothes are too big for her to wear. Her mom will have to alter them at home before she can wear them."
"When you go to town, you only know how to buy meat but don't even think about buying some vegetables. Today, these vegetables were brought over by Teacher Jiang; he said he grew them himself..."
Fu Qin talked nonstop to Zhang Ran like a chatterbox.
Zhang Ran occasionally responded to her with a few words.
Teacher Jiang picked up his rice bowl again and watched as Fu Qin talked endlessly to Zhang Ran, but became shy and mute in front of him. When the topic of her homegrown vegetables came up, he finally chimed in, "My family grows a lot of vegetables. We usually give them to our neighbors when we can't finish them. I'll bring some more over tomorrow, so Teacher Zhang can have a taste."
Remembering something, he looked at Zhang Ran and suddenly asked, "You brought so much stuff back, didn't the village chief give you a ride?"
