Chapter 1990 Are you getting senile?
Watching her mother slump to the ground, wailing as she burned paper money for Luo Yaozu, without even glancing at her father's grave beside her, Zhang Ran, in high spirits, found a shady spot to admire the scene. Tired from standing for so long, she simply lay down, covering her eyes with two clean leaves, treating her mother's wailing as celestial music and a lullaby.
Dongchan stood to the side like a wooden sculpture, dutifully guarding the place.
Chen Zhaodi was truly heartbroken. She cried on and off for a long time, burning all the yellow paper she had brought without giving a single piece to her deceased husband beside her.
"Da Ya?!"
Suddenly, a familiar shout rang in her ears. Zhang Ran reached out and removed the leaves that were covering her eyes, tilting her head to look over.
Two people walked over from not far away; they were Old Man Chen and Old Man Luo, whom he hadn't seen for many years.
Old Chen was overjoyed to see Chen Zhaodi. He had packed his things and was preparing to buy a train ticket to catch up with her in the capital when Luo Laowu suddenly came to his door, saying that some villagers had seen Xiaoyue driving back to the village! He quickly came over to take a look and, sure enough, he found her!
"Father." Chen Zhaodi got up from the ground, his gaze passing over Old Man Chen and meeting Luo Laowu's eyes.
"Sister-in-law," Luo Laowu greeted her casually.
Chen Zhaodi nodded to him.
Old Man Chen looked around anxiously and saw Zhang Ran lying under the shade of a tree not far away. He approached Chen Zhaodi and threatened her, both openly and subtly: "Da Ya, now that your mother and your brother are gone, you can't abandon me!"
Chen Zhaodi nodded to his father, but glanced at Zhang Ran who was walking over out of the corner of his eye: "Dad, don't worry, once I get used to the changes outside, I will find a job to earn money for your retirement."
Old Chen was about to say something, but when he saw Zhang Ran approaching, he suddenly stopped talking, glared at her, and snorted coldly.
Chen Zhaodi glanced at his daughter, then looked at his elderly father, "Dad, where are Mom and my brother buried? I want to go see them."
The mother and son were naturally buried in Chenjia Village. Old Man Chen was about to speak when Luo Laowu interrupted, "Sister-in-law, I know where it is. I'll take you there."
Chen Zhaodi nodded gratefully to him and walked towards Zhang Ran, "Xiaoyue, let's go visit your grandmother and uncle."
Everyone watched Zhang Ran nervously.
After she nodded, Old Man Chen turned and walked away. Although he was walking in front, he kept looking back to see if they were following, afraid that they might not.
Since Chen Zhaodi burned all the offerings for Luo Yaozu, and had nothing else to offer to Chen Guangzong and his mother, he went into a general store and bought some more when he passed by.
Chen Zhaodi had just been released from prison and didn't have any cash on him, so Dongchan naturally paid for Zhang Ran's money.
Seeing that Dongchan was paying, Old Man Chen took the opportunity to grab a pack of cigarettes, and immediately opened a few packs and gave them to Old Man Luo, afraid that they would be returned.
"Thank you, Uncle." Luo Laowu said, while glancing ingratiatingly at Zhang Ran to observe her reaction.
Zhang Ran didn't care that they were taking advantage of this small amount of money. She gestured for Dong Chan to finish paying and then went to Chenjia Village.
The mother and son were buried in the Chen family's field, their graves next to each other. Because they were buried ashes, the graves were relatively small, not as big as the coffins.
"Mom! Guangzong! I've come to see you!" Chen Zhaodi knelt before the grave, wailing and burning paper money, kowtowing, looking extremely sad and heartbroken.
Luo Laowu diligently pulled the weeds off the grave, trying his best to impress everyone.
Old Chen stood quietly to the side watching, then suddenly turned and glared at Zhang Ran, "Go over there and kowtow to your grandmother and uncle!"
"Haven't you been framing me all along, saying I killed them both?" Zhang Ran retorted directly, "Now you want me, the murderer, to kowtow to the victims? Are you senile?"
