Chapter 2011 Class Reunion
Chapter 2011 Class Reunion
"Xiaoyue!" Fu Qin was very happy to see her, and took her arm, leading her into the private room. "Many classmates have come, and some of them have changed a lot."
Zhang Ran glanced at Dong Chan, who stopped and did not follow her inside.
The private room was bustling with noise, and a large round table was full of people.
The female students all dressed up carefully, and the male students were not to be outdone, changing into new clothes and getting their hair cut.
Of the more than fifty students in the class, more than half were absent. Zhang Ran glanced around and saw that about a dozen had come.
"The class monitor is here, please have a seat."
The students greeted Zhang Ran warmly, and she responded with a smile, casually finding an empty seat to sit next to Fu Qin.
"Luo Yue, you graduated from Peking University. Where are you working now? You must be doing better than us."
"Yes, yes, Luo Yue is a top student, unlike me, a poor student who couldn't even get into university. After graduation, I could only open a small supermarket and barely make ends meet."
The students chattered amongst themselves, revealing their professions and inquiring about what everyone else was doing.
Zhang Ran was the focus of the entire event; everyone was eager to know what kind of jobs graduates from prestigious universities could find and what kind of salaries they could earn.
Zhang Ran humbly replied, "I studied computer science and started a game company with a college classmate, but my classmate usually manages it, and I rarely go to the company."
"You own a company? You're amazing!" Everyone praised her, but when they heard that she rarely went to the company, they felt that there was something fishy going on. However, since the people present were only slightly closer than strangers, they wisely refrained from asking any further questions.
Everyone's attention turned to Fu Qin, asking her what she was doing after graduating from university.
Fu Qin replied shyly, "I studied accounting and I'm currently an intern at a company."
"Accounting is great, accountants never have to worry about finding a job." Many classmates seemed to be praising him, but in reality, their enthusiasm waned, and they shifted their focus to Mo Yanjun, who was wearing a suit jacket and matching shorts in the middle of summer.
"Squad leader, is that BMW parked outside the hotel yours? Where have you been making your fortune lately?"
When his classmates mentioned his third-hand BMW, Mo Yanjun said modestly, "It's nothing. I just do some small business and attract investment. I only make a few million a year."
"Wow! Class monitor, you're amazing!"
"The company I work for only makes two or three thousand a month! Our class monitor makes millions a year, isn't he the most successful person in our class?!"
"Squad leader, we used to be best friends, could you mentor me?"
"Take me with you, I admire the class monitor the most."
Everyone surrounded Mo Yanjun, offering their congratulations and vying to get his contact information.
Looking at Mo Yanjun, who was being fawned over, Fu Qin suddenly leaned close to Zhang Ran's ear and whispered a reminder: "Do you remember? Back then, the homeroom teacher appointed you as class monitor and him as academic representative, but he took your position as class monitor and said that since you were good at studying, you should be academic representative."
"Hmm," Zhang Ran replied casually.
Mo Yanjun walked up to Zhang Ran with his phone in hand, smiling, and said, "Luo Yue, it's been a long time. How about we exchange contact information?"
Zhang Ran didn't take out her phone, but recited a string of numbers.
Those present who wanted to add her contacted her picked up their phones and added her as a contact, with some students asking again because they couldn't remember her name the first time.
The waiter served the food, and Mo Yanjun returned to his seat. Everyone ate and chatted, talking about work and their relationships.
Everyone toasted Zhang Ran and Mo Yanjun, telling them not to forget their old classmates once they became successful.
Zhang Ran picked up her teacup and stood up: "I don't drink alcohol, so I'll offer you this tea instead."
Some of the men present didn't drink alcohol, so everyone substituted tea or other beverages. Since they were all classmates, no one made things difficult for them.
