Chapter 624: The Magic Weapon to Control Ye Xiu
Chapter 624: The Magic Weapon to Control Ye Xiu
「Wu Family Estate!」
The members of Meng Yinwan’s Restorer Alliance had been implanted with preventative hypnotic suggestions by Ye Xiu before they departed.
Meanwhile, the Blood Cloth Guards had brought the bodies of the 722 people they had hunted down last night to the Wu Family estate.
Ye Xiu drained all the Martial Prowess from the corpses, then used the power of his Earth System Totem to dig a massive pit in the backyard and bury them all.
To his disappointment, none of these people had possessed a Totem.
"Ye Xiu, Ye Xiu..."
Ye Xiu was in the living room, absorbing the Martial Prowess he had gathered, when Kristina’s frantic shouts suddenly echoed through the estate.
"I’m in the living room!" he called back immediately.
A moment later, Kristina and Lin Xin entered the living room. Floating along behind Lin Xin were 29 wounded individuals.
"Ye Xiu, hurry! They were injured in an explosion. You need to heal them, quickly," Kristina urged frantically.
Kristina is getting further and further away from Supreme Oblivion, Ye Xiu thought with a private chuckle. The highest state of that path is the severing of all emotions and attachments. Even if your own parents or children died right in front of you, your state of mind wouldn’t ripple in the slightest.
"Who are they?" Ye Xiu didn’t rush to heal the wounded. Instead, he asked with feigned ignorance, prompting Kristina to make introductions.
Before Kristina could speak, Lin Xin introduced himself. "My name is Lin Xin, and I am the Crown Prince of the Eternal Kingdom."
His arrogant demeanor and innate sense of superiority made him act as if he were Ye Xiu’s better.
What a prick... Ye Xiu scoffed internally, though he said aloud, "I wasn’t asking you. I was asking about them."
Courting death... Lin Xin seethed. Ye Xiu’s words were a clear and deliberate slap in the face. However, as a politician, controlling his expression was a basic skill.
Despite his inner fury, Lin Xin maintained his smile. "They are all people from the Eternal Kingdom."
"Oh!" Ye Xiu nodded.
An ’oh’? That was it? Lin Xin’s opinion of Ye Xiu plummeted. The man was unbelievably arrogant and disrespectful. He remained seated on the sofa, not even bothering to stand, let alone offer him and Kristina a seat.
"What do you mean, ’oh’?! Hurry up and heal them!" Kristina pressed.
"No," Ye Xiu refused flatly.
"You..." Enraged, Kristina’s chest seemed to swell. She snapped, "Ye Xiu, don’t you forget that Qin Qing, Leng Yue, and the members of the Ye and Long Families are all in my hands! You have no choice but to obey my commands."
Ye Xiu looked at Kristina, his face an emotionless mask. "Do you remember your oath? I only agreed to help you deal with the members of the Restorer Alliance in Nanjing. I won’t get involved in anything else."
I knew you’d say that... Kristina had already anticipated this. "Before, I only held Qin Qing and Leng Yue, so you could hide behind your oath and disobey me. But not anymore. Now that the Ye and Long Families are also in my hands, if you don’t obey me, I’ll kill them all."
Ye Xiu shrugged. "Go ahead. Kill them."
Kristina was speechless.
"Princess, I’m better at dealing with people like this." Seeing that Kristina was getting nowhere, Lin Xin stepped forward. He walked to the opposite side of the coffee table, fixed his gaze on Ye Xiu, and called out his name. "Ye Xiu..."
His plan was simple: get Ye Xiu to look up so he could use his Purple Pupil Ability to control him and force him to heal the 29 wounded.
"What is it?"
But Ye Xiu kept his head down, fiddling with his phone, and didn’t look up at all.
This guy is wired differently, Lin Xin thought, shocked. Most people would have looked up reflexively.
He tried a different approach. "Ye Xiu, you’re quite handsome, but you still fall short when compared to me. Your facial features aren’t nearly as delicate as mine."
The comment was a deliberate attempt to make Ye Xiu look at his face.
"Ugly is fine by me. It doesn’t matter, since I don’t make a living with my face," Ye Xiu said nonchalantly, his eyes still glued to his phone.
"You..." Lin Xin finally lost control of his expression. "Ye Xiu," he said coldly, "since the day I was born, no one has ever dared to be so arrogant in my presence. Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you?"
So this is the great Crown Prince of the Eternal Kingdom? His mental fortitude is average at best. His composure crumbled so quickly. Ye Xiu inwardly scorned him.
In truth, he knew exactly what Lin Xin was trying to do. He wasn’t afraid of hypnosis; he was simply having some fun at Lin Xin’s expense.
"My deal is with the Golden Family," he said. "You’re merely the Crown Prince of the Eternal Kingdom. I dare you to touch me."
Lin Xin’s pupils shrank. He suddenly realized he was completely powerless against Ye Xiu. Ye Xiu was right. He really didn’t dare to kill him.
"Lin Xin may not dare to kill you, but I do!" Kristina interjected coldly. "If you don’t heal these 29 people right now, I’ll order Lin Xin to kill you."
Ye Xiu stood up, went to the fridge, and grabbed a carton of Six Walnuts walnut drink. He handed it to Kristina. "Here, drink this. It’s supposed to be good for your brain. If you had any sense, you wouldn’t kill a powerful ally like me over 29 pieces of trash, especially when you need my help against the Restorer Alliance."
"You..." Kristina took a deep, angry breath. She wanted to argue, but she realized Ye Xiu had a point.
The thousand-man battalion that was wiped out previously, along with the 1,000 soldiers sent this time, were all Fourth Rank. They were Martial Artists who possessed talent but lacked inherited Totems or Special Abilities.
Compared to a single Ye Xiu, 29 such Martial Artists—even 290,000 of them—were worthless.
This left Kristina completely frustrated. She was seething at Ye Xiu’s words but was utterly powerless to refute his logic.
"Hah..." Lin Xin sighed. He could see that Ye Xiu was genuinely fearless. "The three major Judicator Families and the Eternal Kingdom truly value you," he said, changing tactics. "On my father’s orders, I came to Nanjing with a gift for you. If you heal these 29 people, I will give it to you."
"Oh?" Ye Xiu’s interest was piqued. "What gift?"
He still didn’t look up.
Lin Xin was exasperated. Why won’t he just look at me? He doesn’t even know I have the Purple Pupil Ability!
He took a deep breath and announced, "It’s a Totem!"
As he spoke, he pulled a small blue glass vial from his pocket. It was filled with an earthy yellow liquid and fitted with a needle for direct injection into the bloodstream.
"Interesting!" Ye Xiu glanced at the vial. "What kind of Totem is it?"
"It’s an Earth System Totem," Lin Xin said. "Nanjing is a mountainous region. Possessing an Earth System Totem will make you like a fish in water when dealing with members of the Restorer Alliance."
Heh. An Earth System Totem is the last thing I need right now, pal.
Ye Xiu was thoroughly disappointed but didn’t let it show. He also knew it was time to back down. If he still refused to heal the 29 wounded, he would be pushing things too far.
"Alright," he said. "Give me the Totem, and I’ll heal them."
Lin Xin’s smile returned. "I will naturally give it to you once they are healed," he said playfully.
Even after he heals them, I can’t give him the Totem right away, he thought. This is my ultimate bargaining chip to control him.
