Chapter 194: Gacha Spin!
Chapter 194: Gacha Spin!
Gideon’s eyes suddenly opened, the familiar red ceiling still hanging above him under the soft glow of the dim lights. He was still inside the BDSM dungeon, with two women sleeping peacefully by his side.
Jade had unconsciously rolled closer, while Elaine was completely buried under the blanket, breathing quietly as if nothing in the world could wake her.
He slowly sat up and leaned against the headboard, taking one last glance at the two of them before rubbing his face.
In the end, he never asked Jade about her expedition.
Even worse, he had completely forgotten to spin the gacha. The fifty gacha tickets had been sitting untouched in his storage for who knew how long.
"Finally, the time has come!"
Even though he was guaranteed at least one SSR every fifty pull, his heart was still pounding uncontrollably. After all, it would be a huge loss if he walked away with only a single SSR out of fifty pulls.
Those tickets even when it wasn’t that hard to obtain, it still took a lot of his time and energy, wasting them would hurt more than losing money.
Gideon cleared his throat and stretched his fingers before hovering one over the familiar screen.
[Are you sure you want to use a 10x Gacha Ticket?]
He pressed the confirmation without hesitation. The usual animation played, cards floating one after another before slowly revealing their colors.
Two purple lights. The rest were plain blue.
"This... is a bad start." He sighed before shaking his head. "But it’s okay. I still have forty more."
One by one, he opened the cards and quickly noticed something different.
The R-rank rewards had expanded.
Instead of only random seeds or construction material, there were now canned foods with no expiration dates, winter supply packages filled with blankets and thick clothing, and various daily necessities that would be extremely useful for the residents.
Then one particular reward caught his attention.
[R: Bedroom Package ×2]
[Includes: Bed, Cabinet, Table, Chairs]
Gideon’s eyes immediately brightened. "Finally, something that lets me spend less money!"
Buying furniture from the system store wasn’t that expensive, but it still cost a lot if he bought it in bulk, so getting complete sets through the gacha was far more efficient.
With the number of rooms in the apartment currently under construction, those simple rewards suddenly became surprisingly valuable.
It wasn’t such a terrible start after all.
The two SR cards appeared next.
[SR]
[Livestock Processing Blueprint]
[Construction Frenzy Buff: Construction speed increased by +30% for 20 days.]
"Not bad."
The blueprint would make food preservation much easier, while the buff would speed up the expansion of the Safe Zone before the harshest part of winter arrived.
Without wasting any time, Gideon spun another ten pulls.
This time, only a single SR appeared.
[SR: Beginner Construction Manual]
At first glance, it looked ordinary, but after reading the description, he couldn’t help nodding.
The manual could transfer basic construction knowledge to ten residents, giving each of them the skills of a junior construction worker. The knowledge was standardized, making it perfect for rapidly expanding his workforce without months of training.
With enough people using it, every future construction project would become much more efficient.
Now he hesitated. Thirty tickets still remained, continuing this might bring him into more shitty items or the other way around.
But then that familiar tingling sensation crept up his spine again, the strange instinct that had rarely failed him before.
A grin slowly spread across his face. "Yess... I can feel it."
He stared at the remaining tickets, fingers hovering over the summon button once more.
"Please give me another specialist ticket."
The cards appeared one by one. Most of them glowed blue, followed by a few purple ones, leaving only the last card unrevealed. Gideon unconsciously swallowed, his eyes fixed on the screen.
If this one wasn’t gold, he would simply use the rest of the tickets and accept that maybe his luck was terrible and his instincts were complete bullshit.
"Come on! Give me a good one!"
The moment the final card flipped over, the screen exploded into a brilliant golden light.
Gideon’s eyes widened.
[SSR: Agricultural Scientist Specialist Ticket]
"YESS!!!"
This time, however, neither Jade nor Elaine woke up. They were apparently too exhausted to even open their eyes, which was probably for the best. Otherwise, Gideon knew he would look like a complete weirdo celebrating alone in the middle of the room.
"But... an agricultural scientist, huh?"
He nodded to himself. "This is actually perfect. Delilah has been managing the agricultural zone, but she’s going through a high-risk pregnancy. Having another specialist will take a huge burden off her shoulders."
Nothing was more reliable than people summoned directly through the system. They were talented, efficient, and, most importantly, never caused unnecessary trouble, like Williama and the construction workers he hired from the system.
"Even the SR card is really useful."
[SR: Agricultural Machinery Package]
[Contains: Medium Tractor, Seed Drill, Rotary Tiller, and Irrigation Pump]
Gideon rubbed his chin thoughtfully. It looked like the gacha pool was evolving together with the Safe Zone itself. The more he developed and upgraded the territory, the better and more specialized the rewards became.
That was excellent news. "Hm... right, let’s save the remaining tickets for now."
He made his decision quickly. There was still plenty to do today, starting with another meeting.
Reaching out, Gideon pinched both Jade’s and Elaine’s noses at the same time. The two women immediately gasped for air before opening their eyes.
"What the hell, Gideon?!" Elaine shouted first.
"Damn it... it’s morning already?" Jade groaned, still half asleep.
"Exactly. Now wake up and ask your expedition team for a full report, Jade. I want to hear everything."
Jade sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Fine... but what about those flowers? Aren’t you anxious? Even with your power, I don’t think you can wipe them out silently unless you’re a ghost."
"We’ll find a way," Gideon replied calmly as he got out of bed and started putting his clothes back on. "Don’t worry about it."
For once, his body wasn’t covered in scratches like it usually was after nights like this. With both women’s hands tied for most of the time, he actually woke up feeling surprisingly refreshed.
"I’ll take a bath. You two can leave after that, okay?"
Without waiting for an answer, he walked into the bathroom and turned on the warm water.
Today, just like every day before it, was going to be another long one.
***
The meeting started after Gideon finished checking both the construction site and the agricultural zone.
The apartment project was progressing smoothly without any major problems, aside from the constant shortage of workers. Fortunately, he had already hired additional manpower to compensate for it.
He had also selected ten residents to receive the construction knowledge transfer, as they were the most suitable candidates and already had experience with physical labor.
The agricultural zone was just as busy.
The workers had already begun digging irrigation trenches, and Gideon placed the Agricultural Machinery Package nearby so everything would be ready once the canals were completed. If everything went according to schedule, they would be planting seeds within the next few days.
By the time he returned, everyone was already gathered in the meeting room.
Two of Jade’s expedition members stood nervously at the front of the table while everyone else sat in their usual seats.
Gideon arrived last. He took the seat at the head of the table with Jade and Delilah beside him. Elaine, Kilian, Johan, William, and Aria were also present, each with a stack of documents placed neatly in front of them.
"Alright, let’s start with the budget planning Piggy prepared," Gideon began. "She couldn’t make it today, so if anyone disagrees with something, feel free to argue your case."
Elaine was the first to raise her hand. "The medical budget is too small. Shouldn’t it be one of our priorities?"
Gideon smiled, already knowing where this was going.
"I know you just want more equipment and machines," he said with a chuckle. "But Piggy’s reasoning makes sense. Right now, we mainly need to focus on treating hypothermia, respiratory infections, frostbite, and vitamin deficiencies, so—"
"I want more antibiotics and vaccines," Elaine cut in without hesitation. "Is it possible for us to obtain vaccines or even manufacture them ourselves?"
The room fell silent for a moment.
Gideon rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "That... is actually a good point. I’ll discuss it with her."
To be honest, he wasn’t even sure whether diseases from his world were still the same way in this world. Even if they were the same, the climate had changed completely, and even the animals that normally spread illnesses had already mutated.
Then again, infections could still spread from person to person. Although, considering the current state of the world, most people carrying contagious diseases were probably already dead.
"You know what?" Elaine said after noticing his hesitation. "I’d rather discuss this privately with you and Piggy. That’s all from me."
"Great." Gideon nodded. "If no one else has any questions, let’s move on to the next topic."
His gaze shifted toward the two members of Freebound. "Gentlemen, weren’t there supposed to be three of you?"
One of the men nodded with a troubled expression. "Yes... one of us is missing."
He paused before continuing. "We lost him Edelweiss Town, which is exactly what we came here to report."
