Nirvana Heiress: Reborn and Returning to Stir Up a Storm

Chapter 27 The Gradually Unveiling Conspiracy

Chapter 27 The Gradually Unveiling Conspiracy

Lin Chuyue knew that Shen Fang would never accept being suspended for a month; this period would actually be a good opportunity for her to retaliate. In order to completely seize the initiative, she decided to start with an internal investigation within the company, proceeding step by step to uncover Shen Fang's deepest secrets.

In the company's personnel archives room in the early morning, Lin Chuyue gently flipped through a document. Sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the curtains as she sat at the table, the paper in her hands making a soft rustling sound.

“Human resources transfer records…” she read softly, her gaze falling on a few special records.

Among these records, several senior employees in the finance department were "reassigned" within the past month. The reasons given for the reassignments were vague, filled with clichés such as "departmental needs adjustment" and "adapting to business development." However, Lin Chuyue keenly noticed that the people who replaced these employees were almost all newcomers with no relevant experience.

"Why were these people transferred?" She frowned and carefully wrote down all the names.

She dialed Zhou Xiaofeng's number, her tone indifferent: "Manager Zhou, good morning. I'd like to inquire about the recent personnel changes. Could we meet and discuss it?"

On the other end of the phone, Zhou Xiaofeng's tone was as usual: "Of course, Miss Lin, where are you now?"

"In the archives."

"I'll be there in ten minutes."

After hanging up the phone, Lin Chuyue stood up, tidied up the documents in her hand, and turned her gaze to the window of the archives room, her eyes revealing a hint of coldness.

Ten minutes later, Zhou Xiaofeng pushed open the door and entered. He was wearing a dark blue suit, holding a folder in his hand, and wearing his usual smile: "Ms. Lin, you wanted to see me?"

"Manager Zhou, please have a seat." Lin Chuyue gestured for him to sit down and handed him several documents. "I just looked at the personnel transfer records and found that several core employees in the finance department have been transferred. I'd like to hear your opinion."

Zhou Xiaofeng glanced down at the documents, his expression unchanged: "These transfers are adjustments made based on the department's business needs. These employees have good overall abilities, so they have been transferred to other important positions."

"Really?" Lin Chuyue looked up and stared directly at Zhou Xiaofeng. "But I noticed that the positions they took on didn't seem to have any particularly complex tasks. In fact, some newcomers have replaced them in core positions. Can these newcomers handle this kind of work?"

Zhou Xiaofeng's fingers paused slightly, then he regained his composure: "Ms. Lin, the job adjustment is for the long-term development of the company as a whole. New employees need to be trained, while the experience of these senior employees can play a greater role in other departments."

"That sounds reasonable." Lin Chuyue smiled, her tone gentle yet sharp. "However, if it's for long-term development, why was the adjustment time so rushed?"

Zhou Xiaofeng was speechless for a moment, cold sweat beading on his forehead.

Lin Chuyue's smile remained unchanged: "I'm not questioning your decision, I just hope you can carefully review these arrangements to ensure they are truly beneficial to the company."

“Of course, I will recheck.” Zhou Xiaofeng nodded repeatedly, stood up, and said, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll go take care of it.”

"Okay, thank you for your hard work." Lin Chuyue smiled as she saw him off, her gaze coldly fixed on his retreating figure.

That evening, Lin Chuyue told Gu Yanchuan what she had discovered during the day.

“These transfers are too strange,” Lin Chuyue said, frowning as she poured red wine. “Shen Fang wouldn’t transfer such an important person away for no reason. She must have other plans.”

Gu Yanchuan took the wine glass and smiled faintly: "Not only that, I learned from a source that Shen Fang transferred a suspicious amount of funds overseas through a series of company accounts. On the surface, it was a business transaction, but there was actually something else going on."

Lin Chuyue's grip on the wine glass tightened slightly: "Can you trace the flow of funds?"

“There were clues, but she was very cautious. The funds circulated through several shell companies before finally disappearing into an offshore account,” Gu Yanchuan said in a low voice.

“So, this is a very long story.” Lin Chuyue took a sip of red wine, her gaze deep. “We need to find the key breakthrough point.”

Gu Yanchuan stared at her profile, his eyes softening: "You're nothing like the Lin Chuyue of before. Now, you're like a hunter carefully maneuvering in the hunting grounds."

"I must thank that hunter for his guidance." Lin Chuyue turned her head and smiled at him. "However, I hope to expose Shen Fang's true colors as soon as possible."

Gu Yanchuan smiled without saying a word, gently raised his wine glass, and clinked glasses with her.

The study in Shen Fang's villa was dimly lit, with several company financial reports laid out in front of her. Her expression was cold and focused.

Wang Peng, the head of the security department, stood aside with his head down and reported cautiously: "Lin Chuyue seems to have become suspicious of the company's internal cash flow. Zhou Xiaofeng said that she is checking the personnel and financial records."

Shen Fang scoffed, "It doesn't matter. The more she investigates, the more she'll be led astray by my scheme."

"What about the funding..." Wang Peng asked hesitantly.

“That was the crucial step, and I’ve handled it flawlessly.” Shen Fang slowly stood up and walked to the window. “What I want is not for Lin Chuyue to suspect, but for her to see it with her own eyes and uncover the ‘truth’ herself. At that time, she will definitely fall head over heels into my trap.”

Wang Peng immediately understood and nodded, "Your subordinate understands."

With her back to him, Shen Fang curled her lips into a cold smile: "Lin Chuyue, I'll show you how terrible the price of stupidity can be."

The following day, Lin Chuyue contacted a senior engineer in the company's technical department, requesting assistance in checking certain data flow on the company's intranet.

“Ms. Lin, some data is encrypted and may take some time to decrypt,” the technician said, pointing to the computer screen. “However, I have discovered some suspicious financial records. It seems that a sum of money has been transferred in multiple transactions within the past month.”

"Can we find the source?" Lin Chuyue asked.

"Currently, we have only identified the intermediary transfer companies, but these companies are likely shell companies."

"Restore the complete records as soon as possible." Lin Chuyue paused, then instructed, "Don't tell anyone else, especially Zhou Xiaofeng and CFO Li Gang."

The technician nodded and continued working.

Lin Chuyue walked out of the office and glanced at her phone. Zhou Xiaofeng's text message caught her eye: "Ms. Lin, I have some additional comments regarding the transfer. Can we meet again to discuss it?"

Lin Chuyue's gaze turned slightly cold as her mind raced. Zhou Xiaofeng's initiative to contact her—was this an opportunity, or yet another trap set by Shen Fang?

She gripped her phone tightly, stepped forward, and a cold smile appeared on her lips: "Whatever it is, I can handle it."
