Early in the morning, Lin Chuyue walked into the company with a steady gait, exuding an aura that commanded respect. Security supervisor Wang Peng was already waiting at the elevator entrance. When he saw her, his expression changed slightly, but he quickly regained his composure: "Good morning, President Lin."
Lin Chuyue glanced at him coldly, offered no further pleasantries, and simply replied with a curt "Good morning."
Wang Peng's gaze followed her retreating figure, slightly lost in thought. Recently, Shen Fang had been contacting him frequently, making him feel like he was being thrust into the eye of a storm. On the surface, Shen Fang remained successful, but behind the scenes, rumors of her suspension were rampant, and the tense atmosphere within the company was almost suffocating.
The morning meeting started on time. Lin Chuyue looked around, her gaze cold. CFO Li Gang placed a document on the table and said in a steady tone, "President Lin, this is last month's financial statement and several records of unusual expenditures."
Lin Chuyue took the document, quickly flipped through it, and frowned slightly. Several expenditures in the document blatantly pointed to departments that Shen Fang had once controlled, but the destination of these funds was unusually vague. She looked up, her gaze landing on Li Gang: "President Li, have these unusual expenditures been investigated thoroughly?"
Li Gang nodded slightly: "We have already investigated a portion of it, and we initially suspect that someone forged the contract and used it as a pretext to allow project funds to flow out of the country."
Lin Chuyue's voice was calm but carried a hint of coldness: "Continue the investigation. You must thoroughly understand the flow of every single fund. I will cooperate with you."
Board member Gu Yanchuan sat to the side, his hands folded on the table. His gaze swept over everyone present without leaving a trace, and he suddenly spoke up: "Since the problem is concentrated in the department that Shen Fang is in charge of, should we ask Shen Fang to come back and explain the situation?"
The meeting room fell silent instantly. Lin Chuyue's gaze swept over Gu Yanchuan, slightly probing: "Mr. Gu, do you think Shen Fang will tell the truth?"
Gu Yanchuan's lips curled slightly, his tone indifferent: "I'm just making a suggestion, it doesn't mean she'll cooperate. But sometimes, a face-to-face confrontation might bring the problem to the surface more quickly."
Lin Chuyue was silent for a moment, then nodded: "Then let's follow President Gu's suggestion and ask Shen Fang to come back. However, she is only a temporarily suspended employee and cannot interfere in company affairs."
A few hours later, Shen Fang appeared in the conference room on time, looking perfectly normal, as if she had never left her center of power. She wore a well-tailored beige business suit and had a smile on her face, yet she exuded a sense of oppression.
Lin Chuyue sat in the main seat, coldly looking at Shen Fang: "Shen Fang, we have discovered some financial issues during your tenure. Since it involves your department, I hope you can cooperate with the investigation."
Upon hearing this, Shen Fang's smile remained unchanged, and her tone was calm: "President Lin, of course I am willing to cooperate. However, I have been gone for a month now, and whether these issues are really related to me still needs to be proven with evidence."
Lin Chuyue's gaze hardened, and her tone left no room for doubt: "I hope you understand that the root of the problem is not the length of time, but the attribution of responsibility."
Shen Fang's smile faded slightly as her gaze swept over the other people in the conference room, finally settling on Gu Yanchuan: "What do you think, Mr. Gu? After all, you are an important member of the board of directors."
Gu Yanchuan tapped the table lightly, his tone unhurried: "Shen Fang, since this is an investigation, let's be honest. The sooner the truth comes to light, the better for everyone."
A complex emotion flashed in Shen Fang's eyes, but she nodded immediately: "In that case, I will fully cooperate. But I also hope that the company can guarantee fairness and impartiality."
After the meeting, Lin Chuyue returned to her office and took a deep breath. The exchange had appeared calm on the surface, but it was actually fraught with hidden danger. She knew that Shen Fang would not easily admit defeat; this power struggle had only just begun.
Just then, my phone vibrated. It was a text message from Wang Peng: "President Lin, I need to talk to you privately about something concerning Shen Fang."
Lin Chuyue's eyes flashed with a cold light when she saw the text message. Wang Peng's sudden initiative seemed unusual, and she was wary, but she replied with a single word: "Okay."
That evening, Lin Chuyue parked her car at a coffee shop near the company, where Wang Peng was already waiting. He looked somewhat pale, and his eyes held hesitation and unease.
Lin Chuyue sat down opposite him and said directly, "Speak, what is it?"
Wang Peng raised his head, his eyes filled with complex emotions: "President Lin, I've decided to tell you something, but I hope you can keep it a secret."
Lin Chuyue leaned back in her chair, her tone calm: "Don't worry, as long as it's something valuable, I will protect your safety."
Wang Peng gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, "Shen Fang once asked me to monitor your whereabouts and falsify some data to help her cover up financial problems. But she has become increasingly dangerous recently, not only threatening me but also getting me involved in some illegal activities. I don't want to continue working for her anymore."
After listening, a sharp glint flashed in Lin Chuyue's eyes: "Very good. Do you know her recent plans?"
Wang Peng hesitated for a moment, then took out a document and handed it to her: "This is all the information I have, including some of her recent arrangements."
Lin Chuyue took the document, a cold smile playing on her lips: "Wang Peng, you made a wise choice. Now, cooperate with me and make sure she has nowhere to hide."
