Nirvana Heiress: Reborn and Returning to Stir Up a Storm

Chapter 369 Choice and Betrayal

Chapter 369 Choice and Betrayal

The first rays of dawn streamed through the curtains, illuminating Lin Chuyue's face. She sat on the edge of the bed, holding her phone in both hands. A short message from Gu Yanchuan appeared on the screen: "I have something to discuss with you."

Lin Chuyue's heart raced slightly. She knew that every contact Gu Yanchuan made carried unfathomable implications. Since Shen Fang's death had implicated more people, the relationship between the Gu family and her father had become delicate. She hesitated, wondering whether to see him immediately, but soon realized that this issue could not be avoided in any way.

She took a deep breath, stood up, straightened her clothes, and walked to the balcony. Sunlight fell on her shoulders, but it couldn't dispel the gloom in her heart. With every decision, every step, she felt as if she were standing on the edge of a dangerous cliff, with an abyss right beneath her feet.

"What are you hiding?" she asked herself softly, her eyes filled with complex emotions.

In Gu Yanchuan's office, Lin Chuyue stood by the window, her back to Gu Yanchuan, her heart still churning with unease. She knew she had stepped into a whirlpool, and any hesitation could lead to irreversible consequences.

"Mr. Gu, you wanted to see me?" Her voice was calm and steady, trying to hide the unease in her heart.

Gu Yanchuan remained seated behind his desk, his gaze focused, as if he had anticipated her arrival. Hearing her voice, he raised his eyes, his expression still gentle, yet carrying a hint of unfathomable meaning: "Please sit down, Miss Lin."

Lin Chuyue walked to the table, sat down, and stared at him scrutinizingly. Gu Yanchuan put down the documents in his hand, looked directly at her, and said in a soft but undeniably authoritative voice, "I know what you're thinking about, about Shen Fang's death, about your father's stance."

Lin Chuyue's breathing paused slightly, and her eyes suddenly sharpened. "What exactly do you know?"

Gu Yanchuan remained silent for a moment, seemingly preparing some important news. Then, he slowly spoke: "Shen Fang's death is far more complicated than you imagine. I know there are many secrets behind your father, and he was even involved in a scheme that none of us could have foreseen."

Lin Chuyue's heart skipped a beat, as if something had shattered. She had never imagined that her father would be involved in such a deep and unfathomable conspiracy.

"What did you say?" She could hardly believe her ears, her voice trembling slightly.

Gu Yanchuan did not rush to respond, but slowly stood up, walked to her, and said with a deep look in his eyes: "Shen Fang and your father have long had some kind of unknown agreement, and your father's true intentions may not be as simple as you think."

The surprise in Lin Chuyue's eyes gradually turned into anger. She gripped the document in her hand tightly, her voice low but laced with a hint of threat: "Are you saying my father betrayed me? Betrayed our family?"

Gu Yanchuan stared at her, his gaze deep. "That's not what I meant, Lin Chuyue. But in any case, the facts cannot be changed. The relationship between your father and Shen Fang may have gone beyond your comprehension."

Lin Chuyue was overwhelmed with thoughts, and a flood of pain and anger surged within her. She gritted her teeth, forcing herself to remain calm. "Then should I believe you, Gu Yanchuan? Believe you and your Gu family? What exactly do you mean by saying these things now?"

Gu Yanchuan lowered his head, seemingly pondering how to answer her. He knew that this woman was not so easily persuaded, especially in such a complex situation, where every decision she made could potentially alter the course of events.

"You can choose to believe me, or you can choose to leave. But there's one thing you must understand: the road ahead is destined to be full of danger." Gu Yanchuan's voice grew even deeper. "I know you've been searching for the truth, but some truths aren't necessarily ones you're willing to accept."

Lin Chuyue's eyes flickered, and she suddenly stood up, her gaze sharp: "Then tell me, why did you make me stand here and listen to you say all this? If you really want to help me, why don't you just tell me what to do?"

Gu Yanchuan's gaze suddenly turned cold and sharp. "I want to give you a choice, but you must have enough determination." He paused slightly. "Your father may be the root of all this. After Shen Fang's death, the forces behind her will inevitably continue to exert their influence. And you, only by choosing to stand on our side, can you possibly control your own future."

Lin Chuyue closed her eyes, her heart filled with chaos and pain. All of this seemed to be beyond her control, and she was facing an inevitable storm.

"Do you know what I fear most, Gu Yanchuan?" Her voice became low. "What I fear most is that I will eventually discover that everything was arranged by you, and I am nothing more than a pawn on your chessboard."

Gu Yanchuan's expression turned somewhat serious for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure, a faint smile playing on his lips: "I understand your concerns, Lin Chuyue. But some things cannot be undone."

Lin Chuyue took a deep breath, her gaze sharp as a knife: "Then, from today onwards, I will no longer back down."

She turned and left with firm steps, even though she knew the road ahead would be incredibly difficult, but she had no way out.

She knew that every step she took would determine her future. She had to fight for that sliver of hope, no matter what.
