Chapter 62
Chapter 62
"I am looking for Nalan Jingwen."
"How dare you! How dare you address the Prince by his name so casually?!"
Nalan Jingwen listened calmly to the commotion outside. Pei Yunche, jolted awake by the fall, began mouthing words to Nalan Jingwen.
"Your enemy?"
Nalan Jingwen gave him a cold glance but did not answer.
Jingchi silently gripped his sword, gazing outside.
“I only sought out Nalan Jingwen and had no intention of causing any trouble.”
Nalan Jingwen's face was serious. The person outside was very strong. She couldn't even sense his aura. It was as if he was completely hidden in the air, blending in with him in an unusually harmonious way. At least among those present, no one was his match.
Just as Hongyun was about to make a move, he spoke up and stopped her.
"stop."
He turned to Pei Yunche and instructed him, "Stay in the carriage and don't come out."
Pei Yunche wanted to say something, but she silenced him with a sharp look. He then lifted the curtain and went out, with Jingchi following behind him.
When Hongyun saw her come out, she immediately knelt down.
"Your Majesty."
Nalan Jingwen nodded slightly, then looked at the man who was standing not far away with his back to her. His long hair reached his waist and was draped behind him. It was actually silver hair!
Jingchi silently stepped aside to block her, his sword poised to strike.
"who are you?"
Nalan Jingwen stared intently at him, not missing a single detail. The man, who had been facing away from her, finally turned around slowly. He was dressed in white, his body seemingly shrouded in mist. The flowing cloud patterns embroidered with silver thread on his white robes flowed gently, just like the moonlight pouring down for miles. In the instant he turned around, his radiance shone, breathtakingly beautiful.
But he wore a silver-white mask, like a banished immortal, with his hands behind his back, as bright as the moon among the pines, and his dark eyes deep and indifferent.
His arrogant gaze fell precisely on Nalan Jingwen, while no one else could catch his eye.
"Who the hell are you?"
The man's indifferent gaze remained unwavering. He took a step forward, and Jingchi, seeing this, drew his sword an inch from its sheath.
The man merely glanced at it indifferently, calmly and steadily continuing forward, ignoring the threat.
He walked to within two feet of Nalan Jingwen, and slowly opened his mouth. His voice was as cold and ethereal as he was, devoid of joy or sorrow.
"I'll take you away."
Nalan Jingwen frowned even more deeply, and secretly began to circulate his internal energy in his palm.
"I have never met you before, why should I go with you?"
Her tone was sharp and authoritative, even without anger.
The man didn't react much, just watched her quietly. Nalan Jingwen was shocked, however, as the internal energy she was circulating in her palm had been dissipated without her noticing. This made her even more vigilant, and she dared not relax her guard in the slightest.
"Have you absorbed the power within the jade pendant?"
Nalan Jingwen was shocked, his pupils contracted, and he looked at him in disbelief.
"Who are you?!"
The man did not answer, but said, "Come with me, and I will tell you what you want to know."
After he finished speaking, he walked towards her. Jingchi, who was standing to the side, immediately drew his sword and stabbed at him. Hongyun and the rest of his men rushed forward. The man waved his wide sleeves lightly, and everyone flew out, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Only Jingchi managed to hold off the attack, and a solemn expression appeared on his usually silent face. Nalan Jingwen, on the other hand, was completely unharmed, which shocked Jingchi even more.
"What exactly happened outside? Nalan Jingwen, are you alright?"
Hearing the commotion outside, Pei Yunche's voice was filled with panic as he lifted the curtain, wanting to come out.
"Don't come out! Go back! Protect Rong Hengyu!!"
Nalan Jing heard the stern rebuke, but dared not take his eyes off the man in front of him for even a moment.
The man glanced at the carriage briefly, then turned his gaze to the mirror pool beside him, a hint of surprise in his eyes.
"You're from there?"
What does that mean? Nalan Jingwen turned to look at Jingchi, whose face was cold and stern, his lips pursed and he remained silent. However, when Nalan Jingwen looked at him, there was a moment of panic, which quickly disappeared.
The man stopped giving anyone else his attention. A gentle breeze swept by, and Nalan Jingwen felt herself unable to move. The man, who had been a distance away from her just moments before, suddenly appeared beside her, his hands covering her waist.
In the blink of an eye, the spot was deserted.
"Your Majesty!!"
Jingchi watched the direction the two had left, then bent down and followed, leaving behind only one sentence.
"Protect Wang Fu and Young Master Pei."
Pei Yunche got off the carriage and subconsciously looked for Nalan Jingwen's figure, but found nothing. He then looked at Hongyun beside him.
Where is Nalan Jingwen?
Hongyun lowered his head and said solemnly:
"Your Highness... has been taken away..."
"They've been taken away?! What are you all doing?! Go after them!!"
"His Highness has instructed his subordinates to protect you and your husband."
Pei Yunche gritted his teeth and said, "I don't need your protection. If anything happens to the Prince, none of you will escape. Go after him!"
Hongyun refused him, saying, "I cannot disobey orders. Please forgive me, Young Master Pei."
"If you won't go, then I'll go find her myself!!"
Before he could take two steps, he was stopped by Hongyun, who glared at him angrily.
"Get out of my way!!"
"I'm sorry, Young Master Pei, but His Highness has ordered you to stay here."
Pei Yunche clenched his fists in anger, "Bastard!!"
Hongyun ignored him and simply said, "Guard Jing went after him, so you don't need to worry."
Pei Yunche glared at her, then turned and angrily returned to the carriage.
the other side.
Nalan Jingwen watched helplessly as the man abducted her, unable to do anything about it. She dared not relax for a moment, staring intently at the half-exposed face of the man.
This person is truly strong. At least, he is the strongest person she has ever encountered in this era. Even though she believes that her martial arts skills are now among the best in the world, she is still powerless against this man. If he wanted to, he could easily kill her.
The man placed her under a tree, and Nalan Jingwen immediately asked, "Who are you? How do you know me? What is your purpose?!"
The man glanced at her indifferently, then said with his hands behind his back, "Have you forgotten me?"
Nalan Jingwen frowned, but could not find any record of such a person in his memory.
"I have never seen you before."
The man leaned closer to her and stroked her cheek, but without any tenderness, as if he were looking at an object. Nalan Jingwen disliked this; it had been a long time since he had looked at her like that.
"It seems to blend in very well with you."
what is it?
"What do you mean?"
Nalan Jingwen stared intently at him.
The man withdrew his hand, as if nothing had happened.
"Weren't you curious about how I knew about your jade pendant?"
Nalan Jingwen pursed her lips and remained silent, which was taken as tacit agreement with his words, but his next answer surprised her.
"Because that jade pendant was given to you by me."

I was afraid some readers might miss the author's note, so I'm writing it here instead. Regarding the male lead, Jinse, I was inspired to write this book because of him, which is why I have a strong liking for him and feel a sense of pity for him. From the beginning, he was portrayed as a courtesan, a faded beauty whose prime has passed. I know many readers can't accept a male lead who isn't pure, so I hesitated about including him. However, after much internal struggle, I decided to write about him. He had his most splendid moments, and I know he's now past his prime, remaining lucid throughout. Knowing he was unworthy of the female lead, he lived in a torment of unrequited love, suffering day and night, yet unable to resist clinging to that sliver of warmth. He envied the other male leads and the female lead, envied their youthful years, envied their respectable family backgrounds, how perfectly matched they seemed standing beside her. The more he envied, the more painful, excruciatingly so. He understood life too well, so he tormented himself, fighting against himself, humbly and bitterly in love, even believing that as long as he clung to that memory, he could live the rest of his life alone. Just that one memory was enough; he wasn't greedy.
