Chapter 54 The Castle Horror and Mysterious Power

Chapter 54 The Castle Horror and Mysterious Power

The group was swept up by the powerful suction force and helplessly pulled into the ancient castle. In an instant, they felt dizzy and the wind howled in their ears, as if countless hands were pulling them and dragging them into an endless abyss of darkness.

Huanmo held Wanru's hand tightly, his eyes filled with anxiety and worry. He thought to himself, "What kind of evil power is hidden in this castle? Can we really leave here safely?" Wanru nestled beside Huanmo, her body trembling slightly. She closed her eyes in fear, silently praying that all of this was just a nightmare and that she would wake up and return to the relatively safe forest.

After a wave of dizziness subsided, the group finally landed. A putrid stench permeated the surroundings, and in the dim environment, only a few faint rays of light pierced through narrow gaps high above, barely allowing them to see their surroundings.

This was a vast hall, its stone floor covered in moss and cracks. Worn-out flags hung on the walls, their patterns blurred beyond recognition, only vague, eerie outlines remaining. In the center of the hall stood a massive stone coffin, its lid inscribed with strange runes that shimmered with an eerie green light, exuding a chilling aura.

The woman in black robes had a grave expression. She warily surveyed her surroundings, gripping the black flute tightly in her hand. "Everyone be careful, the evil forces here are stronger than I anticipated," she whispered.

The man in white frowned, holding a jade flute, ready to cast a spell to deal with any potential danger. The man in green and Qingwan huddled together, both channeling their remaining spiritual energy and vigilantly watching their surroundings. The white tiger growled softly nearby, its blue eyes flashing sharply in the darkness, as if warning of any potential threats.

Just as everyone was proceeding cautiously, a sinister laugh suddenly echoed through the hall. The laugh seemed to come from the deepest hell, icy and chilling, sending shivers down everyone's spine.

"Hahaha, I never expected so much food to be delivered to my door, it's truly a godsend!" a hoarse voice rang out.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw a figure slowly emerge from behind the stone coffin. It was a strange man dressed in a black robe, with a hideous mask covering his face, revealing only a pair of eyes that gleamed with red light. The greed and evil in those eyes sent chills down everyone's spine.

Huanmo instinctively shielded Wanru behind him, drew his sword, and shouted, "Who are you? How dare you play tricks here!"

The black-robed figure burst into another fit of maniacal laughter. "Who am I? I am the guardian of this castle, and your nightmare! You fools, how dare you trespass here! Today is your death day!"

As he spoke, the black-robed figure suddenly waved his black robe, and a black mist instantly spread out. The mist carried a pungent odor and quickly surged towards the crowd.

Huanmo hurriedly brandished his sword, trying to dispel the black mist, but the mist seemed to have a life of its own, tightly binding his sword and rendering him immobile. Seeing this, the man in white quickly played his jade flute, casting a gentle breeze spell to try and blow the mist away. However, the mist only retreated slightly before surging back in.

The man in the green robe and Qingwan also took action, and the two of them worked together to create a defensive barrier, temporarily enveloping everyone and blocking the invasion of the black mist.

But the black-robed figure clearly wouldn't give up so easily. He muttered incantations and made strange hand gestures in the air. Suddenly, the runes on the stone coffin shone brightly, and beams of eerie green light shot out from the coffin lid, heading straight towards the group.

The defensive barrier trembled violently under the impact of the eerie green light, as if it would shatter at any moment. Huanmo was extremely anxious, knowing that if the barrier broke, everyone would be in grave danger.

"What should we do? We can't hold out much longer at this rate!" Huanmo shouted anxiously.

The woman in black gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, concentrated, and began to play a black flute. As she played, black notes flew from the flute, colliding with the eerie green light in the air and producing a crackling sound.

In an instant, the hall was filled with flashing light and overflowing energy. Everyone felt a buzzing in their ears, as if they were in the middle of a fierce battlefield.

After a fierce struggle, the woman in black robes finally managed to withstand the attack of the eerie green light. She was panting heavily, her face slightly pale, clearly indicating that the attack had taken a toll on her energy.

The black-robed figure was slightly taken aback upon seeing this, then roared, "Hmph, I didn't expect you to have some skill. But don't think you can escape this calamity just like that!"

With that, he vanished in a flash. Before anyone could react, a chill ran down their spines. Huanmo whirled around to see the black-robed figure behind them, reaching out a withered hand to grab Wanru.

"Wanru, be careful!" Huanmo exclaimed, rushing towards the black-robed monster without hesitation, his sword thrusting fiercely at it.

The black-robed figure seemed surprised by Huanmo's swift reaction. He dodged Huanmo's sword by sidestepping, but Huanmo's lunge also caused his hand to miss Wanru, only grazing her shoulder. Wanru cried out in pain, her face turning deathly pale.

"Wanru!" Huanmo cried out in distress, his eyes filled with rage, as he attacked the black-robed monster once more.

The man in white, the man in green, and Qingwan also recovered from their astonishment. They each used their magic to surround the black-robed monster, preparing to engage in a life-or-death battle with him.

The white tiger was not to be outdone. It pounced, opening its blood-red maw to bite the black-robed monster. Surrounded by the crowd and the white tiger, the black-robed monster was momentarily overwhelmed, but his strength was considerable. He quickly regained his footing and engaged in a fierce melee with the group.

In the midst of the chaotic battle, Huanmo's only thought was to protect Wanru; every move he made was filled with anger and determination. Although Wanru's shoulder was injured, she didn't want to be a burden to Huanmo. She endured the pain, took out a handkerchief from her bosom, and tightly bound it to her wound, preparing to lend Huanmo a helping hand at a crucial moment.

As the battle continued, the group gradually discovered that although the black-robed monster was powerful, he seemed to have a weakness. Whenever he cast a powerful spell, the mask behind him would shimmer with a strange light, as if the mask was the source of his power.

Huanmo keenly sensed this. With a thought, he seized the opportunity while the black-robed monster was casting a spell again, rushed forward, and thrust his sword fiercely at the black-robed monster's mask.

"Go to hell!" Huanmo roared.

The black-robed figure was terrified at the sight, but it was too late for him to dodge. Huanmo's sword pierced straight into his mask, shattering it instantly. A dazzling light shot out from behind the mask, followed by a shrill scream from the black-robed figure. His body collapsed to the ground as if all his strength had been drained.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the black-robed monster fall. But before they could even rejoice, they noticed that the runes on the stone coffin were flashing again, and this time the light was even brighter and more intense than before.

"Oh no, it seems we've triggered an even more powerful restriction!" the woman in black exclaimed.

As the runes shone brightly, the stone coffin slowly opened, and a powerful, suffocating evil force surged forth from within. The power seemed to originate from an ancient demon, carrying an aura of annihilation, and rapidly swept towards the group.

Huanmo and the others stared in horror at the approaching evil force, knowing that an even greater crisis was about to unfold. At that moment, their hearts were filled with both despair and a sliver of resentment. Were they truly destined to perish here?

Just when everyone thought they were doomed, Huanmo suddenly felt the map in his arms getting slightly warm. Startled, he instinctively took out the map and saw that the previously blurry route on the map had become clear, and the route seemed to be pointing in the direction of the stone coffin.

What's going on? Huanmo was filled with doubt, but he couldn't think about it too much at the moment. He looked at the surging evil power, gritted his teeth, and shouted to the crowd, "Follow me, maybe this map can guide us to a way out!"

Hearing this, the crowd, though puzzled, had no other choice but to trust Huanmo. Thus, led by Huanmo, they trudged towards the stone coffin, facing the evil force with great difficulty.

Deep within the stone coffin, a pair of even more profound and malevolent eyes silently watched their every move, their gazes gleaming with an eerie light, as if waiting for them to step into the final trap.
