Chapter 148 The Power of the Stone House and Unknown Mysteries
The powerful force surging from the stone house door swept everyone away like a raging tide, sending them sprawling to the ground in a cloud of dust. The previously eerie atmosphere was now heightened by this sudden turn of events, creating an atmosphere of intense tension. Huanmo felt as if she had been struck by a heavy hammer; a sharp pain shot through her. Gritting her teeth, she struggled to her feet, her gaze fixed on the tightly closed stone house door, her heart filled with resentment and confusion.
"What exactly is hidden in this stone house? It's protected by such a powerful force. But the more powerful the force, the more it means there's something crucial inside. I absolutely cannot give up now." Huanmo thought to herself, brushing the dust off her clothes and gripping her sword tightly. Although she had been injured by the previous attack and her body was still trembling, the determination in her eyes remained undiminished, as if no difficulty could stop her from seeking the truth.
Wanru clutched his injured calf, his brow furrowed, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. The strain caused a sharp pain in the wound, making him gasp. "Ugh, this is too weird. Every time I think I'm getting close to the truth, some powerful obstacle appears. Could there be something even more terrifying than that evil spirit inside this stone house? But I've come this far, can I back down? Of course not." He encouraged himself mentally as he forced himself to stand up, his jade flute still firmly in his hand, ready to deal with any potential danger.
Ling'er's eyes were red from crying, and she kept wiping away her tears with her little hands. She sat on the ground, looking at the stone house, feeling both scared and curious. "This house looks so scary, but everyone says they want to go in and take a look. I can't be a coward. I want to go with everyone. Maybe there's a way to defeat the bad guys inside." Thinking of this, Ling'er sniffed, stood up with her books in her arms, her little body straight, although she still couldn't stop trembling slightly, but her stubbornness was evident.
The woman in white was also jolted back a few steps by the force. She gently stroked her zither to calm herself, her gaze heavy with thought. "This power is extraordinary. It contains ancient and mysterious spiritual energy fluctuations, and seems to have countless connections with this valley and forbidden area. Perhaps only by deciphering the secret of the runes on the door can I successfully enter the stone house. But what do these runes mean?" She frowned slightly, her fingers tracing the shapes of the runes in the air, trying to find a clue.
After regaining their senses, the group gathered again in front of the stone house, carefully examining the shimmering runes on the door. The runes seemed to be dancing, their light flickering, as if playing a riddle with the group, or perhaps deliberately testing their patience.
Huanmo reached out, wanting to touch the rune again, but hesitated for a moment, then turned to the woman in white and asked, "Miss, you are very knowledgeable, can you tell what's so special about this rune?"
The woman in white shook her head slightly and said, "I just feel that they exude an ancient aura, which is difficult to understand for a while. However, I think that since this valley is full of mystery, perhaps we can look for clues in the surrounding environment. Maybe there are corresponding hints."
The group agreed with the suggestion and began to explore the area around the stone house. The ground around the stone house was uneven and overgrown with weeds. Occasionally, they could see some broken pottery shards and unidentified small objects, seemingly telling the story of someone who had once lived here.
Wanru found a stone slab half-buried in the soil on one side of the stone house. He squatted down and laboriously moved the stone slab aside. He saw some shallow patterns carved under the stone slab. The patterns were somewhat blurry, but upon closer inspection, they seemed to be similar to the runes on the door.
"Come and see! We've found something here!" Wanru shouted, and everyone quickly gathered around.
Huanmo leaned closer to examine the patterns, a look of surprise in her eyes. She said, "These patterns seem to correspond to the runes on the door. Perhaps they are the key to unlocking the secret of the door."
Ling'er stared wide-eyed, her little hands rummaging through the scrolls, muttering, "I hope there's a way to understand these patterns inside."
The woman in white carefully observed the patterns, gently tapping her chin with her finger. After a moment of thought, she said, "I feel that these patterns are telling a story, or perhaps an ancient ritual. If we can interpret these patterns in the correct order and match them with the runes on the door, we might be able to open this door."
So, everyone began to work together to study the patterns. After some thought and reasoning, they seemed to have found some clues. Following the deduced order, Huanmo carefully reached out and touched the runes on the door, activating them one by one in the corresponding order.
As the last rune was activated, the light on the door suddenly shone brightly. Then, a creaking sound came, and the door of the stone house slowly opened. A musty and decaying smell rushed out, and wisps of mist poured out from inside, making it impossible to see what was inside.
Huanmo took a deep breath and stepped into the stone house first. The interior was dimly lit, with only a few rays of light filtering in from outside allowing for barely discernible outlines. Inside, some old tables and chairs were scattered, covered in dust and cobwebs. Several rotten wooden crates lay in the corner, seemingly on the verge of collapse. In the center of the room was a stone platform, upon which rested a box emitting a faint glow. The box possessed a mysterious allure, drawing one closer to explore its contents.
"Look, that box seems very unusual," Huanmo said softly, her feet unconsciously walking towards the stone platform.
Wanru, Ling'er, and the woman in white also followed in. They were also attracted by the box. But just as they were about to reach the stone platform, a sinister laugh suddenly rang out from inside the stone house. The laugh seemed to come from all directions, echoing in the small space and sending chills down their spines.
"Hahahaha, you overconfident fools, how dare you trespass into my territory! Today is your death day!" A cold voice rang out from inside the house, but the speaker could not be seen.
Everyone immediately became alert, standing back to back in a circle, nervously watching their surroundings. But apart from the laughter, they could see nothing inside the stone house. Who was making that mysterious sound? How should they deal with this sudden threat? What secrets did the box inside the stone house hold? Everything was once again shrouded in danger and mystery…
