Sunlight filters through the leaves, casting dappled golden light on the surface of the stream.
Leona Morimoto walked barefoot on the pebbles by the stream, water splashing onto her fair legs. She turned and waved to Chen Xiao, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Master Chen Xiao, the water here is so refreshing!" Her voice was alluring and seductive.
Chen Xiao stood on the shore, a faint smile playing on his lips. He slowly unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt, revealing his perfect physique and muscular chest.
This action immediately attracted the attention of all the girls around.
"Leona, are you sure this place is safe?" Hiroko Takashiro looked around warily, her eyes fixed on Chen Xiao with a dazed expression.
“Of course~” Leona spun around, “I’ve already arranged for bodyguards to guard this area, so no outsiders will be able to disturb our Heaven on Earth!”
Kitami Reika stood a little distance away, her toes lightly touching the water's surface, a look of hesitation on her face.
She looked up at Chen Xiao and met his smiling gaze. She immediately lowered her head like a startled deer, her ear tips turning red.
"Kitami, you really know best what it's like to be with Chen Xiao!" Saeki Kaori had already taken off her stockings and was sitting on a flat rock, splashing water. She tilted her head and asked innocently, "Or... does Senpai just want to be alone with Chen Xiao? So you're pretending to be shy to attract his attention?"
"No, no!" Kitami waved his hands frantically, but accidentally stepped on a wet, slippery stone and fell forward—
A strong arm caught her steadily.
Chen Xiao's aura instantly enveloped her.
Kitami looked up and met Chen Xiao's extremely handsome face. His thick eyelashes cast a small shadow under his eyes, and the curve of his mouth was just right and charming.
"Be careful. I don't want my Kitami to get hurt."
"Who, who is yours..." Kitami's voice grew softer and softer, but she did not push him away.
"Wow~" Leona clapped exaggeratedly, "Master Chen Xiao is so biased! I want a hug too!" Leona and Lena ran from behind and hugged Chen Xiao one after the other.
The two beauties bumped into Chen Xiao from both sides, knocking him and Bei Jian down onto the grass by the stream.
Amidst the splashing water.
Taking advantage of the situation, Shiraki Rie hugged Chen Xiao from behind, pressing her face against his back; Takashiro Hiroko and Saeki Kaori exchanged a glance and joined the "battle." Surrounded by girls, Chen Xiao handled each one's coquettishness with ease, his fingers casually brushing against one girl's hair and gently stroking another's cheek, making the girls blush.
In the distance, amidst the bushes, Yumi Miyamoto clenched her fists. She was supposed to be monitoring Chen Xiao's every move, but somehow she had become a spy on this heart-pounding game. Her short hair, beneath her police cap, was already soaked with sweat, and she bit her lower lip hard, trying to suppress the inexplicable soreness in her chest.
"Damn it..." she muttered under her breath, but couldn't look away.
Chen Xiao lay on the grass, comfortably enjoying his harem life.
The girls sat around him, and Rie Shiraki, worried that Chen Xiao might feel hot, fanned him with her hands.
Saeki Kaori sat on Chen Xiao's lap, feeding him fruit mouth-to-mouth, just like an emperor being served by his concubines.
What annoyed Yumi the most was that, looking at the scene before her, her subconscious mind would feel a touch of envy, envying the girls who were playing and laughing with Chen Xiao.
"Officer Miyamoto has this kind of fetish?"
The sudden sound startled Yumi so much she almost jumped. She turned around abruptly, and Yukino Yukinoshita was standing behind her, holding a book, her icy blue eyes full of mockery.
"I...I was just doing my duty!" Yu Meiqiang calmly straightened her police uniform collar. "Chen Xiao is suspected of multiple cases, I must—"
"Surveying him and the girls playing in the water?" Yukino interrupted her, a cold smile playing on her lips. "What a dutiful cop."
Yumi's face flushed red. Just as she was about to retort, an even louder burst of laughter suddenly came from the stream.
The two turned their heads at the same time and saw that Chen Xiao was standing in the water, lifting a girl up in his arms—it was Morimoto Leona. She was wearing a soaked white shirt, her underwear barely visible underneath, her arms wrapped around Chen Xiao's neck, laughing uncontrollably.
"Master Chen Xiao is so mean~ Put me down!"
"Since you call me master, you must obey me." Chen Xiao's voice drifted on the wind, carrying an irresistible magnetism. "Anyone who misbehaves will be punished tonight."
"No, why tonight? I want to be punished right now," Morimoto Leona said, deliberately dressed as a nurse.
"You really want to get a shot, don't you?"
Yumi felt a wave of dizziness.
Chen Xiao spoke in this tone—deep, sexy, and dangerously alluring. What annoyed her even more was that her heart was racing because of just one sentence.
"Looks like the officer's face is quite red," Yukinoshita said coolly. "Do you need me to call Chen Xiao over for you? He seems to be quite good at... cooling down."
"Shut up!" Yumi snapped angrily. "I just...it's too hot!"
The playful antics continued by the stream.
Chen Xiao seemed to notice the commotion and glanced towards the bushes. Even from a distance, Yumi could feel the playfulness and provocation in his gaze. He deliberately tightened his arm around Leona's waist and whispered something in her ear, causing the girl to playfully punch his chest.
"Damn it..." Yumi gritted her teeth, but she didn't know whether her anger was directed at Chen Xiao or at her own worthlessness.
Yukino gave her a meaningful look, then turned and left, leaving behind the words: "Let me give you a piece of advice, Inspector Miyamoto. That man is more dangerous than you think. If you get involved... you'll be doomed. Or is your coming here part of his plan?"
Yumi didn't answer. She watched Chen Xiao being fawned over by everyone, her inner alarm bells ringing wildly, yet she couldn't stop herself from stepping deeper and deeper into the web he had carefully woven.
The scariest thing is that she began to wonder if she had already fallen deeply into it without realizing it.
As the sun sets, the stream turns golden.
The girls' laughter faded into the distance, but Miyamoto Yumi remained standing, her eyes beneath her police cap flashing with a complex light. She saw Chen Xiao and Kitami doing something strange face to face in the distance, and quickly turned away, her heart pounding. "Don't look at what you shouldn't see, don't listen to what you shouldn't hear!" Miyamoto Yumi muttered to herself.
As the sun began to set, the sound of Hiratsuka Shizuka's footsteps approaching could be heard in the distance.
Under the sunset.
Chen Xiao put on her clothes.
A group of girls collapsed on the ground.
No one knows what happened.
Only Chen Xiao and the girls knew what had happened.
"Chen Xiao!!" Hiratsuka Shizuka shouted, "Stop having fun, it's getting late. Go back to camp, I need to talk to you about something."
Chapter Thirty-One: Loli Killer Chen Xiao
In the center of the camp, everyone had already set up their tents.
As dusk settled, Chen Xiao straightened his collar and walked towards Hiratsuka Shizuka. The dashing demeanor he had displayed by the stream had vanished without a trace; now he appeared remarkably calm and gentle.
"The teacher wanted to see me?" His voice was gentle, completely different from before.
Hiratsuka Shizuka's gaze lingered on the group of rosy-cheeked girls behind Chen Xiao. Their disheveled clothes and messy hair made her narrow her eyes: "Looks like you're having a lot of fun?"
"It was truly enjoyable." Chen Xiao slightly lifted his shirt, revealing his abs, and gave a lazy smile. "If the teacher is interested, why don't you try it too?"
Hiratsuka Shizuka unconsciously swallowed, then turned her face away in annoyance. Chen Xiao's smiling, peach-blossom eyes seemed to hold the charm of spring. She had to admit that this student truly possessed the allure to captivate.
"Stop being so glib." Hiratsuka Shizuka breathed heavily, then pointed to a girl under a locust tree in the distance, head down, playing on her phone. "Tsurumi Rumi, fifth grade. She hasn't spoken to anyone since this morning." Hiratsuka Shizuka lowered her voice. "She's always been a loner."
Chen Xiao narrowed his eyes, looking at Tsurumi Rumi. There seemed to be an invisible wall surrounding the girl, shutting out her happiness. He was all too familiar with this aura—Yukino Yukinoshita was also this kind of girl. "I've accepted the Service Club's request," Chen Xiao straightened his cuffs, "but this kind of case requires a special method."
"What method?" Hiratsuka Shizuka asked.
"The method is simple," Chen Xiao whispered close to Hiratsuka Shizuka's ear. Hiratsuka Shizuka suddenly understood. Chen Xiao was very close, and smelling the minty scent on him, Hiratsuka Shizuka's heart fluttered.
Just as he was about to take a step, he caught sight of two familiar figures out of the corner of his eye. Umaru was walking towards him, arm in arm with Hina Ebina.
"Brother Chen Xiao!" Xiao Mai let go of Ebina and rushed into Chen Xiao's arms like a swallow returning to its nest. "We roasted cotton candy!" She held up a bamboo skewer with a caramel-colored cotton candy ball stuck on it like a treasure.
Chen Xiao naturally took the bag and took a bite, but her gaze fell on Ebina. Unusually, she wasn't wearing her signature round-framed glasses today; her bangs hung down, obscuring her eyes, and her fingers were constantly twisting the hem of her skirt.
"Himeko," Chen Xiao reached out and brushed her bangs aside, "Don't you like the marshmallows?"
Ebina seemed startled and took a half-step back, forcing a smile: "N-no, I'm just a little tired..."
Suddenly, Xiaomai tugged at Chen Xiao's sleeve, stood on tiptoe, and whispered in his ear, "Just now, Senior Hubu slipped a letter to Ebina, and she turned into this after reading it."
Chen Xiao's eyes darkened. "What? Does Ebina not like me anymore?"
Ebina shook his head. "No, I'm sorry, Brother Chen Xiao, I'm just not in a good mood."
"why?"
"Being stared at by someone you don't like will always make you feel uncomfortable."
Is it Tobe Sho? Hayama Hayato's henchman?
"Interesting. Knowing you're my girlfriend, you still dared to write me a love letter." Chen Xiao folded the letter in half and tore it in two!
Ebina looked at Chen Xiao with admiration, and Chen Xiao was still full of boyfriend charm.
"Don't worry, after tonight, Tobu Sho won't bother you anymore."
"Hmm, what can you do, Brother Chen Xiao?" Hai Laoming asked curiously, but he took the initiative to hug Chen Xiao and press his chest against Chen Xiao.
Chen Xiao pinched it and then laughed, "You'll know the answer tomorrow morning."
At night, the group played around a makeshift campfire.
Meiyu looked at Chen Xiao with admiration from afar.
Miyamoto Yumi reminded Meiyu, "Stay away from Chen Xiao."
"Are you saying Chen Xiaojun is a womanizer? But he's very good to me. Don't worry, I won't fall for Chen Xiaojun so easily."
"It better be this way!"
The campfire illuminated Chen Xiao's sharply defined profile as he crouched in front of Tsurumi Rumi, maintaining a perfectly respectful distance. The little girl sat on a tree stump, her knees drawn up to her chest, the hood of her red hoodie completely covering her head, revealing only a pair of wary eyes.
Before Chen Xiao could speak.
“I don’t need friends,” Tsurumi’s voice was muffled. “And I certainly don’t need the concern of a womanizer.”
Chen Xiao chuckled, not at all angered, but instead leaned closer: "You call me a womanizer? Looks like Tsurumi-kun is quite interested in me."
"Who, who's paying attention to you!" The tips of his ears under the hat brim instantly turned red. "It's just that you're surrounded by a bunch of girls all day long, it's hard not to notice you!"
"I see." Chen Xiao magically pulled a fruit candy from his pocket. "Do you know what? Sometimes, a person surrounded by a lot of people is more lonely than anyone else."
Rumi Tsurumi stared at the candy, hesitated for a moment, then grabbed it, still stubbornly insisting, "Liar. How could someone as 'normie' as you possibly understand..."
“When I was a child, there was a time when I didn’t speak to anyone for three months. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to, but because…” He paused deliberately, noticing Tsurumi’s gaze subtly lifting, “I was so afraid of being rejected that I preferred to reject the whole world first.”
The shadows of the trees swayed between the two. The laughter of elementary school students drifted from afar, but it seemed as if there was an invisible wall between them. Tsurumi Rumi clenched the candy wrapper in her hand, the plastic making a soft, rustling sound.
"...Then why are you doing this now..." she muttered softly.
“Because I realized,” Chen Xiao gently pulled down her hat, revealing her messy short hair, “that loneliness can be a choice, but it shouldn’t be the result of fear.” His fingertips paused on the ends of her hair, “just like you right now, you really want to know what cotton candy tastes like, don’t you?”
"I didn't—"
