The door opened, and Levin eagerly squeezed inside.
Having spent the entire night running around outside and even witnessed Cerberus, he missed his soft bed in the dormitory more than ever before.
Suddenly, he stopped.
He felt as if someone was watching him.
However, after looking around, Levin didn't see anyone.
There wasn't even a ghost.
However, Levin believed that his intuition was correct.
After mastering the specializations of prophecy in his stargazing class, Levin discovered that he had gained a strange kind of inspiration.
It appears intermittently, giving Levin intuitive hints, which are correct most of the time.
For example, the time he sensed the imp was there in advance.
This is the power of the magic of the prophetic school.
So he drew his wand.
To accommodate students who enjoy reading, the magic candles in the Ravenclaw common room are kept burning all night.
Therefore, Levin can see his surroundings very clearly.
The blue curtains fluttered in the wind by the window, indicating that there was no one behind them.
The star-adorned ceiling and carpet are also clearly visible.
Bookshelves, chairs, fireplace,
Levin looked around but couldn't find anyone.
The night was very quiet, with the occasional sound of wind coming from outside the window. The tranquility of the night was so beautiful, but Levin could only feel his hair standing on end.
Even though every place had been checked, the feeling of being watched hadn't disappeared.
Ultimately, Levin's attention fell on the white marble bust of Rowena Ravenclaw.
Judging from the statue, she was indeed a beautiful witch. The young wizards always found her tense expression intimidating, but Levin could sense her seriousness about knowledge.
What's most ingenious is that this statue was sculpted with clever thought:
No matter which direction you look at the statue from, Rowena Ravenclaw's seemingly insightful eyes always seem to be staring at you.
This is similar to the Mona Lisa.
After circling the statue for a while, Levin finally became certain that the guy staring at him was in this direction.
"I know you're hiding inside the statue, come out now!"
Levin pointed his wand at the statue of the founder of his academy.
However, there was no response.
Unfortunately, Levin hasn't learned any reconnaissance magic yet.
But he immediately realized that he was not only a magician, but also a mind sorcerer.
What could be better suited for detecting such intangible things than psychic powers?
[You attempted to use your psionic tentacles to probe your surroundings, and in a flash of inspiration, you grasped the technique of psionic detection. You have learned the 2nd level of [Psionic Vision]]
Through your continuous practice, your psychic abilities have broken through their limits, your Mind Mage level has increased by 1, and you have learned [Telepathy]
[Psychic Vision: Creates a subtle psychic field based on mental contact, allowing you to see through "sense" even in complete darkness or when your vision is obscured by the physical environment.]
[Telepathic Communication: Ability to communicate telepathically with non-hostile, intelligent beings]
Feeling the sudden surge of mental power, Levin was overjoyed and immediately used the newly learned [Psychic Vision].
At that moment, he discovered that his spirit seemed to have detached from his body and spread outwards. No physical body could stop the penetration of his spiritual power, and everything within its range was under his control.
As the psychic field spread forward, he sensed the presence hidden within the Ravenclaw bust.
It was a spirit, and an unknown magical power.
"Ms. Grey?"
Levin asked using the power of telepathy.
"It's you? Levin Green? What kind of magic are you using to communicate with me?"
Even though Ms. Grey was already a ghost, she was still startled by Levin's move.
“That is the power of the mind, Ms. Grey.”
After explaining, Levin countered, "Now that I've discovered you, Ms. Grey, can you tell me why you were hiding inside the statue, spying on me?"
"Sorry, I was just a little curious about you."
Seeing that she had been exposed, the female ghost quickly floated out of the statue.
Lady Grey is the house ghost of Ravenclaw. Like her mother Ravenclaw, she is tall and beautiful.
But unlike her mother's serious and intelligent demeanor, Ms. Grey was somewhat arrogant.
She almost never spoke to wizards from other houses, only occasionally answering questions from the eaglets.
“Levin Green, I know you. You are the best student we have had in Ravenclaw in recent years. Many professors have praised you highly. But I know that you are even more talented than they think.”
“I have seen you use magic I’ve never seen before more than once inside this statue. I’m very curious about you.”
As she said this, Ms. Grey pressed herself tightly against the statue, as if she would hide inside if things went wrong.
After hearing this, Levin could somewhat understand her attitude.
Ms. Gray seemed to have mistaken him for that person.
Decades ago, this female ghost had a bad experience, which made her wary of a genius student like Levin.
"I understand now, so you've been spying on me from inside the statue all along."
Levin's words made the female ghost blush—which, in fact, manifested as gray on the ghost's body.
"In fact, all the magic I use is created by myself. Everyone has their own secrets. No one says that a junior wizard can't create magic, right?"
"But what I'm curious about is, how did you end up inside the statue of Lady Rowena Ravenclaw?"
Levin's rhetorical question hit the nail on the head.
Through his telepathic abilities, he could sense the panic in the other person's heart after hearing the question.
"I...I just came to pay my respects to Ms. Ravenclaw...I admire her very much!"
Ms. Gray spoke haltingly, her previous assertiveness completely gone.
Levin, however, saw right through her: "No, you don't just admire Ms. Ravenclaw. A ghost can't simply inhabit a statue because of mere admiration."
"—You are not the real Lady Grey. Your true identity is Lady Ravenclaw's daughter, Helena Ravenclaw."
"How did you know?" Gray, or rather, Ms. Helena, asked in surprise.
Of course it's because I've read the original novel!
Of course, Levin couldn't really say that: "I actually guessed it."
"You guessed it?!"
“I know Muggle history,” Levin explained. “Lady Jane Grey was the grandniece of Henry VIII and Queen of England, who reigned for only 13 days. She died on February 12, 1554, but according to Hogwarts, a piece of school history, you appeared in the castle long before that time.”
“You could never be the real Ms. Grey.”
"Considering your resemblance to Lady Ravenclaw and your strange relationship with Barrow the Blood, I dare to guess that you are Lady Ravenclaw's daughter."
Listening to the eleven-year-old wizard's logical analysis, Helena Ravenclaw was reminded of the boy from over forty years ago.
They were equally intelligent, equally handsome, and equally eloquent.
After a moment of confusion, Helena regained her resolve: "Your analysis is very reasonable."
"Just as you said, Rowena Ravenclaw is my biological mother."
"As her only descendant, it's only natural that I can be enshrined in her statue."
Helena's tone was matter-of-fact, but Levin immediately spotted the flaw in her words.
Or rather, it was a trap he deliberately set in his previous words.
Levin said he suspected Helena was Ravenclaw's daughter, which is why she could reside inside the Ravenclaw statue.
In order to get rid of Levin as quickly as possible, Helena directly admitted her identity and went along with it.
But in reality, Levin knew that ghosts could not remain in a physical body for long.
The ghost is not a moving image of Hogwarts.
Although they could briefly pass through the wall, they couldn't hide inside it for long, not even if it was her mother's statue.
The weeping myrtle seems to be an exception, but the reason she can stay in the toilet is because the toilet has pipes and space inside for her to live.
Therefore, Helena was lying.
So—why did she lie? What was she hiding?
According to Levin's psychic reconnaissance, the statue is not hollow.
Therefore, there is only one possibility that Helena was able to hide inside the statue—the statue was enchanted by special magic.
What is this magic?
Levin immediately became interested.
If Slytherin could leave behind a secret room in the castle, there's no reason why Ravenclaw couldn't leave something similar.
—She designed the entire castle.
