"Is anyone there? Answer me?" Ian tapped the pendant with his finger. It was just a pointless and silly thing for him, but unexpectedly, it seemed to actually have some effect.
The voice just fell.
The pendant's light suddenly flashed intensely, faster and faster, as if in response to his question. Ian's breath hitched, and he subconsciously glanced down at the ground beneath his line of sight.
No additional negative status occurred.
"Om~"
The pendant suddenly began to tremble slightly, and the metallic patterns on its surface began to twist and writhe, unfolding like a living thing, as if opening some kind of door. Immediately afterwards, wisps of black substance overflowed from the pendant, floating lightly like silk, and gently intertwining in the air.
Ian's eyes widened.
He watched as these black substances coalesced and reformed before him, eventually forming a sentence. A proper English sentence, like something out of an English textbook.
An interesting life deserves to be rewarded.
The writing floated in mid-air.
The shape is neat and orderly.
It's like a gentleman holding a pen.
Every stroke exudes an ancient and mysterious aura. They float in the air, swaying slightly, as if blown by an invisible wind, and could drift away at any moment.
"What the hell?"
Ian was a little confused. He reached out, wanting to touch the words, but just as his fingertips were about to touch them, the black ink suddenly shattered like spilled ink.
"Wow~"
They swirl and converge in the air like churned ink.
Ian seemed to hear the familiar wails again.
That was the voice of the evil spirit of the nun from before.
"Sure enough! It went inside the pendant!" Ian was amazed by his own clever guess, but he also realized that the nun's evil spirit might not have entered the pendant on its own.
soon.
As the wailing of the evil spirits faded away, the black matter finally condensed into a thumb-sized black crystal floating in mid-air in front of Ian.
It slowly descended.
Ian hesitated for a moment before reaching out to catch it.
The moment the crystal fell into his palm, a cold sensation spread along his skin, as if he had grasped the ice deep in the polar regions, or as if he had truly touched a cold soul.
"The pendant gave me a gift?" Ian murmured to himself, holding the crystal up to the light for a closer look. He hesitated, wondering if he should swallow it whole. The black crystal wasn't completely transparent inside; rather, one could vaguely see some flowing shadows, like imprisoned mist.
It doesn't look like it would taste very good.
"But it seems pretty hard." Ian swore that he just wanted to test which was harder, the black crystal or his teeth, and even if his teeth broke, he could still use it to complete his "leveling up" for the day.
however.
Driven by this very curiosity, he was almost startled. To put it simply, no real crisis occurred, but the turn of events completely surprised him.
The black crystal had barely approached Ian's lips, before he even had a chance to lick it and taste its saltiness, when it transformed into a cool liquid and seeped into his mouth.
It truly melts in your mouth, as if it were refined in an instant.
There was no bitterness or burning sensation; instead, it was like a sip of chilled spring water, cool and refreshing, instantly seeping into every part of your body, somewhat like a jelly that could slip on its own.
An unprecedented sense of clarity swept through my mind.
Ian felt stronger.
In particular, his mental state has improved significantly.
not only that.
Strength: 5.6-5.8
[Physical fitness: 4.5-4.7]
Intelligence: 2.4-2.6
[Spirit: 4.2-6.8]
Surprisingly, not only the [Spirit] and [Intelligence] attributes improved, but even the [Strength] and [Constitution] attributes also saw slight increases. Of course, the [Spirit] attribute saw the biggest improvement.
This was more than Ian had predicted he would gain from consuming the remaining evil spirits, even causing him, as a Berserker, to become stronger in spirit than in strength.
It's true that some of their bloodlines are no longer pure.
"I didn't expect it to actually be a gift." Ian was initially delighted, but then he noticed that a rather strange-looking pattern had appeared on the back of his hand at some point.
Its shape is bizarre.
Like black eyes.
"Is this the price of a windfall?" Ian was somewhat astonished, but he didn't panic. He tried to rub it with his other hand, but he couldn't get it off.
My skin was rubbed until it turned red, but the pattern remained unchanged.
It's like a brand.
Ian glanced at his status bar, expecting a new negative status to appear, but to his surprise, the original [Soul Corruption] negative status had disappeared.
Instead, a new status display has been introduced.
“No wonder I feel like I’ve lost a lot of my wisdom.” Ian said with some regret. He believed that the state of [Soul Corruption] would definitely bring him some surprises at certain moments.
however.
I never imagined that it would disappear so quietly.
He didn't even wave his sleeves.
There was no time to say goodbye.
The status bar image that has now appeared in the same spot is also a pair of eyes, just like the pattern on the back of Ian's hand, which is clearly an "official" explanation for the brand on the back of Ian's hand.
only.
Unlike the negative states Ian likes, this one has no effect whatsoever. When applied to Ian, it does not bring about any change for him.
Death Knight Familia
Only the name of the state reveals what it truly is.
Please, everyone, give me some recommendation tickets and monthly tickets! Book reviews are also welcome. I'm begging you all for your favor!
Chapter 24 Nightmare World! Homelander!
Death Knight's retinue?
Looking at the status name on the status bar, Ian immediately thought of the Death Knight from the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, but he couldn't quite figure out what kind of character it was.
He still remembered the Angel of Death.
As for the Death Knight... after all, the time travel happened more than ten years ago, and even though Ian often reinforces his memories, it is difficult for him to remember those minor details clearly.
Not to mention, he doesn't even have a comprehensive understanding of the world he lives in now. He's a man who scored over 700 on the college entrance exam, and the books he's read the most are textbooks.
As for movies and comics? They're just for leisure time. If Ian had known he would travel to the DC universe, he would have dropped out of school to become a real "comic book scholar".
"In any case, the pendant Madison gave me is probably not simple." Ian could tell that the person who gave him the brand on the back of his hand must be a big shot.
He just didn't know how powerful or influential this big shot really was. Of course, Ian's opinion of his system rose even higher because it could accurately detect such mysterious identity information.
“Perhaps I really do have a chance to break free from the identity of an ordinary NPC.” Ian looked down at the brand on the back of his hand. The lines of the pattern were smooth, yet it was full of a certain mysterious charm.
The only downside is that it didn't bring any negative effects.
This disappointed and saddened him.
Regardless of who the big shot behind this special situation is, Ian felt that the other party didn't really understand his needs and was just someone who didn't care much about him.
"Shrimp Head Guy!"
Ian only dared to mutter these words to himself, which was already quite bold. He rubbed the brand a few times before taking out the homework assigned by his school teacher.
Yes, that's right. Even in America's public schools, there is homework, but the amount is very small, and most of the time it can be completed quickly.
If he's quick, it takes ten minutes or so; if he's slow, it takes half an hour. But for Ian, it takes two hours. It's not that he can't do it, but he can complete a full 20 homework assignments.
As a true academic superstar.
Ian has long provided personalized services to students, possessing a detailed understanding of the levels each student should possess. This business has never been discovered by any teacher.
"Only public schools have so many kids who don't like to study," Ian remarked with a touch of melancholy. In truth, given their parents' abilities, Ian and his two older brothers could have afforded to attend private schools. It's just that their father was a combination of divinity and humanity, a near-saintly Superman in the DC universe.
It is important to integrate into the lives of ordinary people.
This is Superman's philosophy and his parenting style. At the same time, Ian believes that choosing to send his children to public schools is probably also to prevent them from being influenced by the values of high society.
Smoking and drinking?
These bad habits are nothing compared to what you'd find at America's private school. The bad students there are far worse than the so-called bullies in public schools.
"Done! We're done!"
Ian finished his small business.
He started working on "The Overbearing Superman Falls in Love with Me" again. He was experiencing writer's block, so he decided to introduce a new element: Superman gets hit by a spaceship and travels hundreds of light-years, losing his memory and forgetting the female lead.
In the following story, Superman even forgets that he is Superman, and is thus taken in by the scheming female villain, forcing the forty-year-old female protagonist to return to her old job as a cleaning lady in the villain's company.
"The female lead also has to discover the company's unspeakable secret: it attempts to use sanitary napkins to poison and manipulate women all over the world. Only the female lead, who has been menopausal for many years, remains unaffected!"
"Oh right, the female lead has nine children. We can send them off one by one like the Calabash Brothers. I'm such a Frankenstein's monster genius!" Ian was very satisfied with his plot design.
He once again picked up his pen and wrote a book, pouring his heart and soul into it. To be honest, Ian no longer cared whether the book was published or whether he made money; he felt that the most important thing was that he enjoyed writing the book.
of course.
Making money is, of course, a win-win situation.
Ian won twice.
"What a wonderful storm of inspiration!" Ian stopped writing when he felt bored, and after thinking for a moment, he decided to submit the manuscript to the publisher he had already found.
Wayne Group holds absolute control.
