Chapter 73 Nannick
Chapter 73 Nannick
"Priestess Eled".
Mia's beautiful eyes lit up with joy.
Alwin looked up and recognized the woman in front of him.
The priestess Eled taught the Ancients in Kael'thas.
Upon seeing that Mia was unharmed, Priestess Eled exclaimed with delight, "Mia! You're back!"
Mia jogged up the steps and gave Eled a hug.
The hunter brothers, Zachary and his brother, were very perceptive. They bowed to Arwen, took their reward, and left.
Mia recounted the events to Priestess Eled in great detail, and the latter looked at Arwen with astonishment.
Alwin nodded in acknowledgment, then turned to clean up the battlefield and collect the bloodstained fifty-seven crowns.
The raven picked up a piece of meat and flew to a weeping willow not far away, where it silently enjoyed its food.
Several more nuns emerged from the temple. After obtaining Arwen's permission, Priestess Eled directed the nuns to take the carriage to the alchemy workshop at the back of the temple.
When the nuns saw the royal pterosaur's corpse again, their eyes were filled with shock, and their gazes all turned to Arwen's tall and imposing figure.
The young nuns, in particular, had eyes full of curiosity and inquiry.
With one hand dragging the red-robed priest and the other carrying the unconscious "tenant farmer," Alwin, led by Mia, entered the temple and dumped the two of them in a corner behind the temple gate.
His gaze went into the depths.
The temple has a circular top surrounded by eight stained glass windows, through which sunlight shines, creating rainbow-like patterns of light, making it look incredibly expensive.
The walls of the hall are carved with patterns of flowers and forests and decorated with clean tapestries.
The elves put a lot of effort into building this place.
A marble statue, about three meters tall, stands beneath the dome.
To be precise, it wasn't one person, but three.
The three female statues stand on the raised stone pillars: a young girl, a pregnant woman, and a hunched old woman.
They stood back to back, their arms linked together.
The girl was completely naked, carefree, and blushing.
The pregnant woman lowered her head slightly, her eyes filled with joy at the prospect of giving birth.
The old woman, on the other hand, had kind and tolerant eyes.
The Trinity, the goddess Meritelli.
Arwen followed Mia past red chairs placed on either side for listening to divine sounds and praying.
Several nuns were intently wiping with linen.
My nose twitched; the air was filled with the scents of chamomile and lily of the valley.
Arwen stopped at the statue of the goddess Meritelli and made a prayer gesture with Mia.
"Da da da..."
The sound of light footsteps came from the side and behind.
Arwen turned around and looked at the nun walking towards him.
The nun looked to be around thirty years old, with regular features, broad shoulders, and a graceful gait.
Mia stepped forward, beaming, "Nannick, guess who I brought back?"
Arwen removed his hood, revealing his face.
Nannick's pupils contracted slightly, his tone filled with surprise.
"It's you, Arwin?"
Alwin bowed. "Nannick, it's been a long time."
"Is it really you? You've grown so much?"
"I didn't expect you to still remember me."
"Ha, of all of Kaer Morhen's apprentices, you're the only one with black hair."
Nannick gestured to his waist with his hand, "Nine years. When I was teaching you, you weren't even as tall as my waist, and now you're this burly."
"Your eyes, your skin... it seems you've successfully mutated and become a full-fledged Witcher. I just don't see your badge."
Alwin pulled out the badge hidden inside the collar of his leather jacket.
Nannick smiled. "You're different from other witchers; you don't have that flamboyant personality, which is a good thing for your profession."
She suddenly sniffed, smelling a thick, metallic scent of blood, and looked Alwin up and down.
Are you injured?
Alwin replied, "I accepted a pterosaur hunting commission in Franktal, but something went wrong."
Nannick squinted at Mia.
Mia truthfully replied, "It was the dwarf Gren from the Mercenary Guild. After hunting the pterodactyls, he summoned dwarves and elves to ambush us."
"Arwin was injured while saving me."
As she spoke, Mia's voice gradually lowered.
Arwen said, "The situation was critical at the time. If Mia hadn't used the shapeshifting potion to control those two elven archers, the outcome would have been uncertain."
Mia's eyes lit up, and she slightly raised her chin, revealing a hint of smugness.
Nannick's expression remained serious. "That's good."
"However, the wound on your thigh must not be taken lightly. You should rest in the temple for the next few days."
"Mia, go to the alchemy workshop and get some medicine, oh, and some bandages. We'll need to change them later; they're dirty."
"Let me talk to the Witcher."
Mia nodded and said, "Yes."
Seeing Mia leave quickly, Nannick led Alvin toward the arcade on the right.
"I heard from the nun that you drove away the protesters who had gathered outside the door? And caused quite a commotion?"
"Yes, Nannick."
Nannick said, "I remember when I was teaching you humanities classes, I said, 'Don't argue with farmers.'"
"They are ignorant, and the reason they do things that defy common sense is often because someone is instigating them from behind."
"I know, that red priest and the guy pretending to be a tenant farmer are right at the door."
"Sigh... They're just the dessert at the banquet, an appetizer. If one or two are missing, they'll come back in a few days."
"But at least we'll have a few days of peace and quiet," Alwin inquired. "What exactly happened here?"
Nannick stopped in his tracks, and the two arrived at a carved wooden door.
She straightened her collar, reached out to straighten Alwin's, and dusted off the dust on his shoulders.
"Your cloak is too dirty, it's covered in blood. Take it off, I'll wash it for you later. We're going to see the High Priest now."
Arwin unbuttoned his cloak and hung it on the rack beside him, his gaze still fixed on Nannick's face, awaiting his reply.
Nannick knew the Witcher very well; they were all stubborn by nature, he said helplessly.
"Abortion, we gave a widow an abortion pill."
Alwin frowned slightly.
In his memory, the goddess Meritelli represented life.
You can tell from the image of the pregnant woman.
Therefore, Alwin always felt that the word "abortion" had nothing to do with Meritelli.
Nannick explained, "Her name is Shana, she's twenty-five, has freckles around her nose, and is quite pretty."
"She was an orphan adopted by the Temple of Meritelli, and six years ago she married Oliver, a guard in the town."
"Oliver is an honest man, and although they have no children, they are very loving in the years they have been married."
"But just a few months ago, pterosaurs came to Franktal and invaded the lord's land. Oliver was very unfortunate and died in the mouth of a pterosaur. Since then, Shana has become a widow."
At this point, Nannick's eyes turned gloomy, and his voice gradually turned cold.
"An orphan, a widow, and with no connections, she was quickly targeted by those bastards."
"Ah, if it were an ordinary woman from the countryside, losing a few things would be the end of it."
"Kersana was deeply influenced by Meritelli's teachings from a young age, and she understood the weight of the word chastity."
