Chapter 1650 Urgent Telegram
Chapter 1650 Urgent Telegram
Yonggu walked into the ward and looked at the Northern Frontier Wolf King on the bed, who was weak but had clear eyes. The heart that had been hanging in suspense finally settled down.
"Wolf King, how are you feeling?"
The Wolf King of the Northern Frontier closed his eyes and shook his head.
Yong Gu was not good with words, so he could only sit down awkwardly by his bedside: "What exactly happened? Don't you remember anything at all?"
The Wolf King of Northern Frontier frowned again as he habitually searched through his still somewhat hazy memories: "No."
Suddenly, the Wolf King of the Northern Frontier seemed to remember something, and a look of pain and confusion flashed across his face.
"I felt like I had fallen into an ice cave, so cold that my bones ached... Then, it felt like there were eyes watching me from the shadows, cold and not like the eyes of a living person... I really can't remember anything else."
Yong Gu and Ming Chuan, who had just walked in, exchanged a glance and both saw the seriousness in each other's eyes.
“Those eyes…” Mingchuan stroked his chin, “are crucial. Something that left such a deep impression on you is definitely not ordinary.”
Mingchuan continued, "I just had an idea, perhaps it's the Holy Domain."
"The Holy Land?" Yong Gu asked blankly.
Mingchuan briefly explained the situation in the cultivation world to him, and the Wolf King of the Northern Frontier felt his heart sink a little.
"What exactly are they after?" The Wolf King of the Northern Frontier tried to sit up, and Yong Gu reached out to help him.
Mingchuan paced back and forth in the hospital room. "Yes, what threat could a general guarding the frontier pose to the Holy Domain? Unless..."
He stopped and looked at the Wolf King of the Northern Frontier and Yonggu: "Unless their target is not you personally, but the land you are guarding, or rather, the stability of the Dragon Kingdom's borders."
Yong Gu's eyes flashed sharply: "Are they eyeing the Dragon Kingdom?"
“It’s hard to say.” Mingchuan shook his head. “The Holy Domain has many rules and its people are even more cunning. They often have multiple layers of meaning behind their actions. Their attack on you this time could be a test, or they could be trying to create chaos to make it easier for them to do other things. They might even be… looking for something.”
The Wolf King of the Northern Frontier leaned against the headboard, closed his eyes briefly, and when he opened them again, his sharp eyes had regained their usual composure and decisiveness.
"Whatever they're trying to do, this debt can't be left unpaid. My brothers... can't have died in vain."
"Of course we can't let it go!" Mingchuan declared resolutely. "They dared to come to our territory and cause trouble, and even resorted to such underhanded tactics. We don't care if they're from a Holy Domain or an Immortal Domain, we have to find them and bring them to justice!"
He looked at the Wolf King of the Northern Frontier: "Your priority now is to recover. Yonggu and I will go to the place where you had the accident to see if we can find any clues."
“I’ll go with you,” the Wolf King of the Northern Frontier said immediately.
"Give me a break!" Mingchuan interrupted him irritably. "You're already staggering when you walk. Would you just cause trouble? Stay put and get better. That's more important than anything else. Leave the investigation to us."
Yonggu nodded in agreement: "He's right. Wolf King, please stay."
The Wolf King of the Northern Frontier looked at Mingchuan, then at Yonggu, and knew that what they said was true.
He exhaled a breath of stale air and nodded: "...Okay. Let me know immediately if there's any news."
"Don't worry." Mingchuan patted his shoulder. "You get some rest. Yonggu, we..."
Before he could finish speaking, there was a gentle knock on the ward door.
A young soldier in military uniform stood at the door and saluted Yong Gu with a serious expression: "General Yong Gu, urgent telegram from headquarters."
Yong Gu frowned slightly and walked over.
The soldier whispered a few words in his ear.
Yong Gu's face visibly darkened, and his aura turned cold.
He turned and walked back to the ward, saying to Mingchuan and the Wolf King of Northern Frontier, "Something has happened."
"What's wrong?" Mingchuan's heart skipped a beat.
“Just half an hour ago, two other monitoring points on the border also detected similar abnormal energy fluctuations.” Yong Gu’s voice was cold. “The pattern is very similar to what the Wolf King encountered back then.”
The air in the ward seemed to freeze instantly.
The Wolf King of Northern Xinjiang clenched his fist tightly.
Mingchuan's gaze turned completely cold.
Once is an accident, but twice, three times... this is definitely aimed at the Dragon Kingdom!
"They're here again..." The Wolf King of the Northern Frontier said in a low voice, filled with suppressed anger.
Mingchuan looked at Yonggu, their eyes met, and they instantly reached a consensus.
"Looks like we don't need to go looking anymore." Mingchuan sneered. "They've already thrown out the bait again, they can't wait."
“This time, I will go myself.” Yong Gu’s voice was resolute, carrying a chilling killing intent.
“I’ll go with you!” Mingchuan immediately chimed in. “I want to see which deity from the Holy Realm dares to provoke us!”
However, after saying this, Mingchuan suddenly remembered Leng Xiran, Qianqian, and Dong Chuyan, who were still waiting at home.
I had promised them that I came back specifically to spend time with them, but I never expected... that another problem would arise.
That damned Holy Domain! It acts recklessly just because it's powerful. Once it returns to the cultivation world and unifies the Spirit Domain, it will surely tear a hole in the Holy Domain's sky!
Mingchuan was worried about Leng Xi and the others, and a hint of embarrassment appeared on his face.
He took out his phone and said to Yong Gu, "Wait a moment, I'm going to make a call."
He walked outside the ward and dialed Leng Xi's number.
The call was answered quickly, and Leng Xi's cool yet concerned voice came through: "Mingchuan? How is the Wolf King of the Northern Frontier?"
"The person has been rescued and is fine, but will need to recuperate for a while." Mingchuan quickly reported that everything was alright, then added a hint of apology, "However... Xiaoxi, I might not be able to go back for the time being."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, then Leng Xi calmly asked, "What happened again?"
“We’ve detected abnormal energy fluctuations again at the border, very similar to what happened to the Wolf King of the Northern Frontier before his incident.” Mingchuan lowered his voice. “Yonggu and I need to go there immediately. I suspect it’s those guys from the Holy Domain who are behind this.”
“…” Leng Xi sighed softly on the other end of the line. The sigh was very soft, but it made Ming Chuan’s heart clench.
"I'm so sorry, Xiaoxi," Mingchuan said, his voice filled with guilt. "I promised to spend more time with you, but it's only been half a day..."
"Alright, that's enough." Leng Xi interrupted him, her voice still steady but with a hint of understanding. "Business is important; instability at the border is a serious matter."
She paused, then added, "Don't worry about things at home, I'll explain to Ranran and Chuyan. Just be careful yourself."
Mingchuan felt a warmth in his heart, and the pent-up frustration in his chest dissipated considerably. He knew Leng Xi was always sensible, but this understanding and support still deeply moved him.
"Xiao Xi, thank you so much," he said sincerely. "When I get back, I'll definitely make it up to you!"
"Okay, I'll wait for you," Leng Xi replied softly. "Go ahead, be careful."
After hanging up the phone, Mingchuan let out a long sigh of relief, turned around and went back to the ward, nodding to Yong Gu: "All done, let's go."
