Chapter 12 Harry, have you heard of the Will of Fire?
The abandoned amusement park in Xiaohuijin District is just as noisy today.
Orochimaru crossed his arms, watching Harry Potter's feat of taking on three opponents single-handedly, as if admiring a windmill being blown by the wind.
It must be admitted that Harry is extremely talented when it comes to fighting.
His intuition was frighteningly accurate. He had only given him a special training session yesterday, and Harry was already able to accurately determine the angle at which the Dali Boxing Team would throw a punch at him.
In addition to his terrifying intuition, Harry also possessed another talent that impressed Orochimaru.
Harry has exceptional motor skills and outstanding dynamic vision, to the point that Orochimaru once thought he had awakened the Sharingan.
"Alright, Harry, you're not improving by sparring with them anymore."
No sooner had Orochimaru finished speaking than Harry kicked Dali to the ground.
"Is it our turn now?"
Harry asked excitedly.
Seeing this, Dali's trio immediately retreated silently, seemingly praying that Orochimaru and Harry hadn't noticed them.
Orochimaru got what they wanted.
He walked straight to Harry and said earnestly:
"It's time for the two of us to have a proper showdown."
Is it finally about to begin?
Since Orochimaru taught him how to fight using his intuition yesterday, Harry feels like he's been completely transformed!
He is now full of confidence and feels incredibly strong.
In some ways, Harry Potter was indeed a natural Gryffindor.
Once the Dali boxing team had left and everyone was alone, Harry finally let loose and shouted slogans to his partner.
"Come on, Orochimaru!"
Harry shouted excitedly, but to his surprise, Orochimaru did not respond to him properly.
Orochimaru launched a war without warning.
Almost in the blink of an eye, Harry felt a sharp pain in his abdomen and was thrown into the air.
Orochimaru's kick came so fast and suddenly that Harry's instincts didn't even register it.
"Your intuition can't detect every attack. Do you know why?" Orochimaru's voice suddenly rang out behind Harry.
Harry instinctively turned his head, only to find that Orochimaru was not behind him.
Where did Orochimaru go?
Harry was about to search when he suddenly noticed a dark shadow in front of him.
It's Orochimaru!
I don't know when, but he slid right in front of me.
Harry, remembering this, was about to sidestep and dodge Orochimaru's palm. After all, he still vividly remembered the way Orochimaru had grabbed Danny's chin two days ago!
Just as Harry was about to move, he suddenly felt a chill, as if he were a lost mouse being targeted by a venomous snake with its tongue flicking out.
Breathing stopped for a moment.
Thoughts were frozen at that moment.
Harry tried to move, but all he could see was Orochimaru's hand gently opening in front of him, then slowly and firmly resting on his chin.
Orochimaru raised his head.
Bang!
Harry collapsed.
"Did you notice?" Orochimaru squatted down beside Harry and asked leisurely, "What was the difference between my two attacks?"
Harry shook his head blankly.
Orochimaru sighed and decided to try a different approach to asking.
"How did you feel after facing my two attacks?"
"You vanished in a flash, and then suddenly froze me in place..." Harry said hesitantly.
This description sounds familiar; it reminds me of Jiraiya.
Orochimaru shook his head helplessly; he was now quite used to recalling the past.
"This is the situation you'll face on the battlefield, what I call the intuitive warrior's reaction to killing intent," Orochimaru explained leisurely. "I vanish in a flash because I've suppressed my own killing intent. And I freeze you in place with a thud..."
"Is it murderous intent at work?"
Harry asked excitedly.
"Yes, you need to accurately grasp the difference between these two, so as not to be deceived by your enemy when you actually fight," Orochimaru said slowly.
But Harry frowned sharply when he heard that.
He suddenly realized something.
Orochimaru, are you leaving?
"You're quite perceptive in this regard," Orochimaru confirmed Harry's guess. "For some reason, I may have to leave first."
Harry didn't question Orochimaru about why he suddenly left; he simply fell silent, staring quietly at his toes.
This silence is hard for friends to bear, but fortunately Orochimaru is very experienced in this and he has always been able to handle it.
"All good things must come to an end. I assure you, we'll meet again soon."
Orochimaru gently patted Harry's shoulder and then got up to leave.
"Orochimaru... I haven't told you about my parents, have I?" Harry suddenly started a conversation, as if he was reluctant to see Orochimaru leave.
This topic was not unexpected for Orochimaru; in fact, it was exactly the topic he had been hoping for.
Orochimaru, who was just about to leave, turned around and quietly stared at Harry's big, round green eyes.
"I haven't talked to you about my parents' story either. If you'd like, we can have an open and honest discussion."
"There's... there's no need to be so serious..."
Harry answered awkwardly.
Orochimaru remained serious. He slowly walked to Harry's side, his gaze leisurely fixed on the distance.
"My mother was a witch. She used a strange magic to bewitch my father, making him hopelessly infatuated with her."
Orochimaru gave a self-deprecating laugh.
"And when the magic wore off, my father despised and abused her, to the point that she could no longer bear it and abandoned me, disappearing from this world. That abuse was then transferred from my mother to me."
"I'm sorry..." Harry's voice suddenly lowered a few decibels.
He thought his own background was bad enough, but he never expected that Orochimaru's background was far worse.
He can at least fantasize about how much his parents love him.
But for Orochimaru...
"It's not that bad. I've recently made up with my father." Orochimaru smiled and shook his head. "Your turn, Harry."
My parents were in a car accident, and my aunt and uncle raised me.
Harry suddenly felt that his life was nothing special.
His ordeal was nothing compared to Orochimaru's.
Because there is nothing more tragic in this world than abuse from one's own parents.
Looking at the silent Harry, Orochimaru smiled slightly and casually began to say what he had heard before.
Those were the words that Sarutobi, Jiraiya, and even Tsunade had said to him.
"I used to fantasize about some friends, and they taught me a concept." Orochimaru carefully chose his words.
But Harry felt even sadder when he heard this.
He suspected that Orochimaru had no friends, and not even a single person to talk to, before he met him.
He can only talk to people he imagines, and Orochimaru may have even given these imaginary people many of the same agent codenames as Jiraiya.
"They often say that people are like these falling leaves." Orochimaru reached out and pinched a withered yellow leaf that had fallen from the tree. "And the love and faith passed down from generation to generation are the flames that ignite these leaves."
"It's a bit hard to understand..." Harry said blankly.
They often say that wherever leaves flutter, there is a flame that represents love and faith. The fire never goes out because leaves keep falling one after another.
"Whether it's my mother and father, or your parents who died in a car accident, they are like these drifting leaves, igniting a flame that was then passed on to us."
"And our responsibility is to one day become the leaves that hold these flames, passing the fire on to the next generation."
Orochimaru spoke leisurely, as if he were talking to a world he could never return to.
Harry was completely stunned. To him, a sixth-grader, such a theory seemed incredibly profound and...
Cool.
"They even gave this idea a name: the Will of Fire," Orochimaru said with a self-deprecating laugh.
"That's...that's amazing! Orochimaru!" Harry exclaimed excitedly. "Orochimaru, I want to inherit the Will of Fire just like you!"
"I'm sorry," Orochimaru said as always, "but I don't actually believe in the Will of Fire."
Upon hearing this, Harry froze on the spot, looking like a wilted eggplant.
He wanted to press Orochimaru about what he believed in, but then he thought that the Will of Fire sounded really powerful.
"But isn't that what good friends are like? They can have different beliefs. It's our little secret, right?"
"Yes! Yes! Yes!"
Harry said earnestly, but when he looked up, he found that it was already getting dark.
He said he didn't want to leave no matter what, but he had run out of things to talk about with Orochimaru.
Just as Orochimaru was about to turn around, Harry suddenly felt a slight pain in the scar on his forehead.
He subconsciously followed Orochimaru's instructions and used his intuition to perceive things.
It can sense an enemy whose killing intent vanishes in an instant, and it can also sense an enemy whose killing intent can immobilize it in a flash.
For a ninja, this level of perception might not be enough to detect anything.
For a wizard like Harry, who carries Voldemort's Horcruxes, his honed intuition allows him to discover many things.
"Orochimaru! I sense someone spying on us!" Harry grabbed Orochimaru and said expectantly, "Should we search them?"
Oh?
Is this a pleasant surprise?
Orochimaru was somewhat impressed by Harry's keen insight, but still gently shook his head at him.
That's enough for today, Harry.
He said calmly and firmly.
