Chapter 41 Malfoy's Shock
Chapter 41 Malfoy's Shock
Malfoy isn't stupid; he's just a bit spoiled.
Therefore, when Orochimaru asked him how he contacted people in the academy, he guessed that Slack wanted to make contact with Potter.
This is certainly not difficult.
Just go directly to Potter and get his response.
The thought had barely crossed Malfoy's mind when he interrupted it himself.
Because for Slytherin and Gryffindor, there is usually only one way to communicate...
First they insulted each other, then they pulled out their wands and hurled spells at each other, and finally they both collapsed into the school infirmary.
Aside from profanities and curses, the two sides had nothing else to say to each other.
But Slack clearly didn't want that.
"An owl, you can use an owl to send a letter to Potter." Malfoy's lips twitched slightly. "If you don't have an owl, you can use mine."
No.
There is a possibility that communication via owls could be intercepted.
Orochimaru held owls in utter contempt for their fighting prowess, saying they couldn't even withstand a casual strike from him.
"You can also use the Patronus Charm to send messages, but only if you know how to use the Patronus Charm." Malfoy said, sounding somewhat eager to try it out.
Orochimaru's performance yesterday surprised him, which led him to unconsciously overestimate Orochimaru's strength.
"That's a great idea, I'll keep that in mind. Are there any other ways?"
"A two-way mirror. You hold one side, and Potter holds the other. Then you can communicate freely, as long as you're both in front of the mirror." Malfoy said, then saw Orochimaru shake his head slightly, knowing that this method wouldn't work either. "If all else fails, you can use a handful of Floo Powder to appear in Gryffindor's common room. Oh, I mean, only your head will appear there."
Only the head appears in Gryffindor's common room?
Orochimaru had no doubt that the moment his head appeared in the Gryffindor common room, at least dozens of spells would be fired at him.
That would be incredibly stupid.
"Alright, that's all I know," Malfoy sighed. "Of course, you could also find a Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw and have them deliver a message to you."
Need a messenger?
Orochimaru suddenly had an inspiration.
As he walked out of the dormitory with Malfoy, he casually asked:
"Malfoy, have you ever heard of talking to snakes?"
"Parsleyan?" Malfoy paused, looking at Orochimaru with some surprise. "You speak Parsleyan?"
Orochimaru gently shook his head.
He had already obtained the information: the Weasley twins had mentioned talking to snakes when they mocked him in the Great Hall earlier.
In their minds, this seemed to be an extremely evil and rare ability.
And on Malfoy's side, this was confirmed once again.
Orochimaru touched the small white snake wrapped around his wrist, having already determined how he communicated with Harry.
For two people who can talk to snakes, what could be more worthy of being their messenger than a snake?
Orochimaru was thinking happily when he looked up and found that Malfoy had stopped in place.
"This...the stairs are gone?" Malfoy pointed to the stairs in front of him, his face filled with worry.
The Transfiguration class they were about to take was taught by Professor McGonagall, the Head of Gryffindor. To expect a Gryffindor Head of Gryffindor to forgive these late Slytherins was simply wishful thinking.
Malfoy instinctively turned around, trying to spot his two henchmen, Crabbe and Goyle.
Unfortunately, there was no one behind him except for a few Slytherin students hurrying by.
Coldness and indifference are the norm in Slytherin, let alone a young wizard like him who has not yet joined or formed any cliques.
Even though he was born into the Malfoy family, a pure-blood family among the Twenty-Eight Holy Clans, a family is a family, and he is now just himself.
Without sufficient strength, a family can only protect you from being bullied, but it won't earn you respect or goodwill.
Malfoy thought regretfully that he would be late for the first day of school.
Just then, a tall Slytherin walked over from a distance.
The man was tall and imposing, yet he had a protruding chin and buck teeth, making one wonder if he possessed monstrous blood.
but……
Malfoy instinctively straightened his back, ready to receive the goodwill of this upperclassman from Slytherin. The man clearly valued his lineage and wanted to offer him some assistance.
"Slack, my name is Marcus Flint," Marcus Flint, who looked like a humanoid troll, approached Orochimaru with a smile and said, "You seem to be lost. Would you like me to show you the way?"
Why are you helping Slack? Flint, you're one of the Twenty-Eight Holy Races too!
Malfoy was taken aback upon hearing this and immediately turned to look at Orochimaru. He wanted to know Orochimaru's answer, after all, ordinary wizards always had an inexplicable sense of pride.
Orochimaru, however, disappointed Malfoy.
"please."
Orochimaru answered gently.
Marcus Flint liked Orochimaru's attitude, which made him more confident about the later invitation.
Thus, Marcus Flint not only pointed Orochimaru in the right direction, but also led Orochimaru and Malfoy to the door of the Transfiguration classroom.
"Slytherin, you have the manners of a true Slytherin." Before parting, Marcus Flint sincerely invited Orochimaru, "My group is very interested in you. If you are also interested in curses, remember to come find me in the common room."
After saying that, Marcus Flint seemed to notice Malfoy standing next to Orochimaru and gave him a friendly smile.
"You can come along too, but those two idiots Crabbe and Goyle don't need to."
Merlin's beard!
What exactly is going on?
Malfoy stared blankly at Marcus Flint's departing figure, biting his lower lip tightly.
"Relax. Your overwhelmed expression will make people look down on you," Orochimaru said casually, sizing up the students who were rushing into the Transfiguration classroom in a panic.
They were clearly early; the transformation class hadn't officially started yet.
"Slack, that's the Cursed Squad," Malfoy explained eagerly. "They say the Squad has a long history, dating back a hundred years."
A small organization from a hundred years ago?
After the thought flashed through Orochimaru's mind, he immediately understood.
"You want to join this organization too?" Orochimaru asked with a smile.
"I would like to, but they don't want Crabbe and Goyle," Malfoy sighed. "Without followers, joining the Cursed Group would only make me feel like a servant."
Malfoy had just sighed when he looked up and saw an acquaintance.
Yena Yaxley, as if she were just passing by, approached Orochimaru and gave him a slight smile.
"Poison Group, if you want to come, remember to find me in the lounge tonight."
After Yena finished speaking, she left behind only the scent of gooseberries and cloves before disappearing from Orochimaru's sight.
Malfoy's lips twitched again.
"The Poisons group is the one Professor Snape joined back then," Malfoy whispered in Orochimaru's ear. "They've never recruited a first-year student before."
At this point, even the dumbest person would realize what was going on.
Although Slack's performance last night was amazing and showed great sportsmanship, it was more than just that two long-established groups reached out to Orochimaru to recruit him.
What happened while he was catching up on sleep that allowed Slack to receive such an honor all at once?
Just as Malfoy was about to ask a question, he saw Goyle and Crabbe, those two idiots, run out of the classroom.
Instead of speaking to him first, the two of them looked at Slack with anticipation in their voices.
"Slack, the upperclassmen asked us to pass on a message: if you're willing to join the ritual group, we can join too."
Crabbe and Gore looked on with anticipation.
Malfoy could hardly bear to look at the two men's foolish behavior, but he became even more curious.
The Ritual Group is also a renowned group within Slytherin House, second only to Curses and Poisons.
What exactly did Slack do to receive so many invitations from groups within the academy, as if he were a rising star?
"Oh, you can join too, Malfoy," Gore said belatedly. "The upperclassmen have already agreed."
After Crabbe and Goyle finished speaking, they wore expressions of self-satisfaction, as if they had solved a major problem for Malfoy.
Malfoy didn't want to pay any attention to them at this point; he just thought the two of them were incredibly stupid.
But Orochimaru had other ideas.
"Malfoy, do these groups... need to register at the school?"
"No, no need..."
Malfoy shook his head, just about to explain further, when he saw Professor McGonagall approaching from a distance. He was about to bow when Orochimaru's question preemptively floated over.
"Can I make one myself?" Orochimaru asked Malfoy while nodding to Professor McGonagall.
"What? You want to make one yourself?"
Malfoy was so shocked by Orochimaru's words that he didn't even notice that Professor McGonagall had slowed down, as if she were eavesdropping on their conversation.
"Yes," Orochimaru said, puzzled by Malfoy's shock, and casually asked, "Has anyone done this in recent years?"
"have!"
Malfoy hurriedly answered, but then subconsciously glanced at Professor McGonagall, who was about to enter the classroom.
Because she actually stopped in her tracks and openly listened to Orochimaru and Malfoy's conversation.
Orochimaru, however, didn't care; instead, he was rather curious.
"What's that group called?"
Malfoy couldn't help but shiver, glancing at Professor McGonagall who was standing at the classroom door, and almost uttered the group's name through clenched teeth.
"Death Eaters!"
Are they people who feed on death?
Orochimaru's lips curled into a smile, and he nodded in satisfaction before asking:
"That's a good name. How's this group doing now?"
Malfoy didn't answer, because he was startled.
Suddenly, without saying a word, Professor McGonagall transformed into a tabby cat and darted into the classroom.
Upon witnessing this scene, Orochimaru gently patted Malfoy on the shoulder.
"Didn't they have a bad ending? It seems that giving the group an auspicious name is very important."
He said that.
