Chapter 98 Private Communication
"A single 'devil's' recipe wouldn't be enough to tempt an 'Apostle of Desire' from the Belial family to take the risk; it's not the only way he could obtain a potion recipe."
"You can show him this blasphemous card; it's a temptation that no 'demon' can resist."
Barros Hopkins' eyes lit up, and he nodded slightly to Adam, who was sitting at the front:
"I see."
He had originally planned to use some inducing methods to persuade the "Apostle of Desire" hidden in Backlund to accept this dangerous mission, but now he didn't need to. No demon could refuse the demon card in the blasphemous card, except for those old demons who were banished back to the abyss in the Third Age.
The topic was quickly brought to a close, and in the few words of these people, the fate of a powerful duke in the Kingdom of Rune was decided.
...As expected of the most powerful secret organization in existence, they can decide the fate of a big shot with just a few words.
It's also possible that Duke Negan isn't a truly important figure, at least not in terms of his own strength.
However, isn't Adam too calm? Since I've known him, he hasn't seemed to have any intention of stopping or changing the original course of things. What is he thinking?
The existing outcome was already good enough. Should no real changes be made until it's certain that things can be moved in a better direction? Or is he waiting for the right opportunity to plan something bigger?
It should be the latter; the quietest time for the "audience" should be when they are writing the script.
As his thoughts drifted, he heard Hermes raise the next topic:
"King George III of Loen hopes to cooperate with us further, to promote more legislation in Loen that can influence all levels of society and the existing order, in order to further his role as the 'Prince of Killing.'"
"This requires a large 'spectator' to be active, and it requires the support of the Psychological Alchemy Foundation."
"His intended reward was extraordinary material that would allow the Psychological Alchemy to truly enter the upper echelons of the kingdom, as well as some 'audience' channels."
No sooner had he finished speaking than Barros Hopkins, as if he had already known, gave his reply:
"No problem, I will pass the message on."
The hall was silent for two seconds. Then, a middle-aged gentleman wearing a dark gold mask, a black tuxedo, a cloak, and extremely long-toed shoes, dressed out of step with the times, as if he lived hundreds of years ago, leaned forward, glanced around, and asked in a deep voice:
"Do you have any clues about the third 'Hand of Order' extraordinary trait?"
Soon, the people in the hall gave a relatively unified answer:
"No."
"I don't have any either."
"I don't know."
Until Barros Hopkins gave a slightly different answer:
"Perhaps I know some clues that don't really count as leads."
The middle-aged gentleman who had just asked the question quickly followed up, "What clue?"
Barros Hopkins didn't hesitate or ask for payment; he simply said:
"One of the most widely circulated treasure legends on the sea, the ghost empire left behind by the Tronsust Empire."
"Based on the information I have received, the Ghost Empire does exist, but it does not seem to exist in any specific location in reality. There are only occasional rumors circulating in the Misty Sea, and it is difficult to distinguish between truth and falsehood among them."
"I recently encountered a true god descendant with a faint lineage of the 'Night Emperor' Trunsost, and through spiritual exploration, I discovered some history of the Fourth Epoch."
"The Night Emperor at that time may have already sensed his impending doom and prepared a contingency plan for his resurrection, but this plan encountered some problems at a certain moment."
The masked middle-aged gentleman pressed on, "What's the problem?"
Barros Hopkins shook his head slightly and said, "I don't know. It involves true gods, even those who have already fallen, which is beyond my comprehension."
"I can only say that, if the third 'Hand of Order' extraordinary property hasn't been collected by some being, then it's most likely in the Ghost Empire."
After a brief pause, he added, "Perhaps you could try to find it using the Judgment card from the Blasphemy deck."
The middle-aged gentleman wearing a mask shook his head with a hint of regret: "If I could find the judgment card made by Roselle, I wouldn't be asking here."
"That judgment card has most likely fallen into the hands of someone in the Castile family."
Cyril remained quietly seated in his place from beginning to end, acting as an emotionless bystander. The Twilight Hermits were too high a level for him to join the conversation.
It wasn't until Adam reminded him that the impromptu gathering was over that he rose with everyone and bowed to the huge cross behind Adam.
Then, he watched as the figures on both sides of the hall became transparent, faded, and disappeared one by one, while he remained in the same place.
He paused for a moment, then turned to look at Adam, clearly realizing he had been left alone.
Noticing his gaze, Adam smiled gently at him. "Don't be nervous. I just need you to explain why I didn't respond to your calls during the day."
Sirion raised an eyebrow slightly, then asked curiously, "Are you in trouble?"
Adam gently shook his head: "No, I have been sitting here all along, observing the world through the changes in my inner world."
"So, the problem was on my end?"
Cyril's tone wasn't too surprised; he had already guessed it, which was why he had helped him deal with the spirit creature by threatening 0-08.
Adam nodded slightly: "Your voice was kept secret. By the time I heard it, you had already entered the Church of Harvest."
Before Cyril could ask further, he continued:
"That bodyguard not only represents the temperance faction of the Rose School, but also a stable anchor—enough and profound enough anchors—to allow that 'Fool' to remain true to himself even after knowing the truth of this world."
"Your existence caused things to veer slightly in a negative direction, so 'the night' dealt you a hardship that you could bear."
This is to keep you away from him for the time being.
"The night has always been gentle when it comes to friends."
Cyril: ...
She is very gentle, but it would be better if this gentleness were not based on ostracizing me.
He muttered to himself, then sighed, "I thought it was a curse from the 'Primordial Witch' that struck me after what happened in the mirror world."
Adam looked at him calmly and said slowly:
"Chik did curse you, but due to the difference in rank and the lack of a medium, his curse did not take effect."
After a two-second silence, Cyril looked up at Adam and murmured:
"Is this considered a work-related injury?"
"You could say that," Adam nodded slightly.
"So when you tried to communicate with 0-08, I influenced it, causing it to fall into fear and worry about the future, and it had no choice but to cooperate with you in order to seek temporary peace of mind."
Cyril's eyes widened slightly: "You can directly influence it?"
"Then wouldn't that mean we could reclaim the last 'writer' attribute at any time? Why bother...?"
His voice gradually subsided, and finally he fell silent.
Adam nodded slightly, then said, "Theoretically, yes."
"But my ascension to godhood is not yet complete, and I am not Bethel, who has partially grasped the sealing authority. I cannot accommodate a third 'writer' characteristic, as this would cause them to aggregate uncontrollably."
"Instead of keeping it inside and sealing it away, it's better to leave it outside and let it play a role."
"Apart from 'Night,' none of the other six gods can pinpoint the exact location of 0-08. Even if you gods descend, I can still move 0-08 before you do."
Cyril nodded thoughtfully, feeling that this was not a matter worth Adam keeping him behind to explain alone.
Sensing his doubts, Adam calmly explained:
"You can go to the church in Heraborgen, or you can go see Urolius, the chairman of the Council of Life, seated beneath the 'True Creator.'"
"This is 'Night's' compensation for the previous calamities."
"To say that your fate is neither harmonious nor normal, perhaps only someone who holds more power over fate can see this clearly."
Cyril paused for a moment, then suddenly recalled the prophecy "Yellow Light" Venitan had given him: Beware of fate, it is your greatest enemy and your best helper.
So, what exactly is wrong with my fate?
At this time, Will Onsett should be busy planning the restart, and may not see me, or even avoid me.
As for the "god of knowledge and wisdom," Rune doesn't have a church; I can't just run to Remnburg right now.
It seems that my only option is Urelius. Am I really going to meet the "true creator"?
Never mind. Ulorus is chasing Will Unsetin's trail. Perhaps I can wait for him in Backlund, provided that this is not interfered with by other beings.
Composing himself, he looked up at Adam again, but before he could ask, the latter had already spoken:
"I do not possess authority over matters of destiny, nor am I omniscient or omnipotent, so I cannot give you a definitive answer on this matter."
"My advice is to follow your most instinctive intuition. Often, this spiritual intuition is more effective than thought and wisdom."

"Or, you could try pursuing things along the path of 'fate,' and perhaps you can find some answers there."
