A scruffy parrot perched on a coat rack and barked at Luo Xiu.
Luo Xiu looked up at the parrot in confusion; he remembered that this parrot hadn't been there before.
That is, the instant his gaze met the parrot's.
The parrot seemed to recognize Luo Xiu's face:
"If you touch it, you have to buy it!! If you touch it, you have to buy it!! If you touch it~~~, you have to buy it!!"
What the hell? !
Luo Xiu was indignant.
Old White was a bit vengeful; he deliberately called for a parrot to annoy him.
Sure enough, the next second, before old White had even stepped out of the room, the voice arrived:
"Little Luo Xiu is here, right? Which one do you want to touch this time?"
“Old White, I think we should have more trust between us.”
The parrot beside him kept chirping, and Luo Xiu wished he could fly up and cover its mouth.
"trust?!"
Old White finally emerged from the door at the far end of the shop.
He wore an old-fashioned but clean cashmere close-fitting top, paired with crisp gray-brown trousers, and a goatee on his chin.
He was dressed exactly like an old country gentleman.
"Does trust mean you come to my shop every few days and touch my goods without spending a penny?!"
Old White adjusted his monocle, his eyes sharp:
"I suspect you've practically looted all my goods!!!"
"Slander! Utter slander!"
Luo Xiu lightly tapped the table in protest:
"That was just a necessary assessment before making the purchase! And this time it's different; this time I brought enough copper coins."
Luo Xiu weighed the money pouch on his body.
This action led to a complete 180-degree reversal in White's attitude.
He stared intently at the money pouch at Luo Xiu's waist, his old face beaming like a daisy:
"My dear little Luo Xiu, which goods would you like to buy?"
“You don’t need male slaves, and you don’t have any land to cultivate.”
"I still have those slaves you often touched and looked at, Gaza? Lina? Or maybe Angel?"
"Leila!"
Without hesitation, Luo Xiu uttered the name he had prepared in his heart.
"Leila??"
This option clearly surprised old White.
He paused, then asked incredulously:
"You want to buy a half-orc slave?"
"Yes."
Luo Xiu looked at the door on the right side of the room.
It was as if I could see that small figure huddled in the corner through the door.
Chapter 2 Orcs
Orcs are a unique species on this continent.
Except for some kingdoms that place great emphasis on peace and inclusiveness.
Nowhere would accept orcs.
The reason is also very simple.
The very existence of this species is a tragedy.
Those mindless and ferocious monsters snatched prisoners from the human side and took them back with them.
And I can't control my body.
Thus, orcs were created.
Once a half-orc is born, it is often driven away or killed by its parents, who belong to the beast faction.
They despised the orcs' weak physique.
Humans find it even more difficult to accept them.
They believe that their existence is a symbol of human humiliation.
The ultimate fate of these poor creatures was to be captured at the end of their long escape and used as slaves, living a life worse than that of pigs and dogs.
Orc slaves are often very cheap because they have short lifespans and eat a lot. Old White persuaded Luo Xiu for a long time to change his target.
For this reason, he even brought over a few slaves that Luo Xiu used to frequent, and had them stroll around in front of Luo Xiu a few times.
However, apart from letting Luo Xiu touch it a few more times for nothing, it had no effect whatsoever.
Luo Xiu was determined to get the cheapest one.
no way.
After a series of sighs and complaints, old White still brought Leila out.
Leila is a half-orc girl with Silver Moon Bear blood.
She had long, chestnut-brown hair, wore tattered linen clothes, and was exceptionally thin, as if a gust of wind could blow her over.
What was most striking were her pair of silver, round, upright ears on her head, which were trembling constantly, whether out of fear or nervousness, and she looked uneasy.
Luo Xiu looked Leila over and nodded in satisfaction:
How many copper coins?
"That wretched brat, he knows perfectly well but still asks on purpose."
Old White said irritably:
"180 copper coins, not a single one less. All the goods I handle are in perfect condition and worth the price."
"can."
Luo Xiu didn't haggle and readily placed 180 copper coins in front of old White.
Seeing the pile of copper coins in front of him, old White felt a little better.
Although he wouldn't make much from this deal, he thought that it would be good if his other goods could be spared from Luo Xiu's clutches in the future.
He put away the copper coins, glanced at the shrunken money pouch at Luo Xiu's waist, and offered a reminder:
"This year's tax revenue is coming soon, you'd better save some money, or you'll be driven out of CheLun Town before next spring."
Seemingly afraid that Luo Xiu wouldn't take his words seriously, he added:
"You won't survive a single night if you try to spend the night outside of Wheel Town."
"Okay, thanks for reminding me. But with Leila around, I shouldn't have any trouble paying my taxes."
As Luo Xiu spoke, he patted Leila's head, making Leila's already flustered face turn bright red.
Old White didn't understand what Luo Xiu meant, and he was too lazy to figure it out.
This reminder was the last bit of kindness he could offer this old man who had spent his entire life making money off copper coins; he had no time for anything else.
After handing Luo Xiu a simple contract to control the slaves, the transaction was officially concluded.
After saying goodbye, Luo Xiu left the White Exchange with Leila.
Old White watched his retreating figure and muttered:
"I never expected this brat to like this type. I thought he liked curvy women..."
……
After leaving the exchange, Luo Xiu led Leila northwards towards Wheel Town.
To the north lies a jungle, a place where goblins frequently roam.
Leila didn't speak a word the whole way, but followed closely behind Luo Xiu, step by step.
When Luo Xiu left, she left too.
Luo Xiu stopped, and she stopped too.
Luo Xiu noticed this and found it interesting, so he stopped abruptly after a brisk walk.
Then Leila bumped into it.
"Ouch……"
Leila covered her nose and looked at Luo Xiu somewhat timidly, not understanding what her master meant.
Looking at her like this, Luo Xiu couldn't help but laugh:
"Finally, I heard you speak. I thought I had bought a mute person."
Leila blushed and timidly spoke:
"Master forbids Leila from speaking, so Leila dares not speak."
"Now I'm letting you speak. Tell me what you can do."
Luo Xiu's smile was gentle.
With that youthful, handsome face, Leila's eyes kept darting away. She lowered her head shyly and said:
"Leila... Leila can cook, clean, do laundry, weave, chop firewood, farm, and... warm the bed."
