Chapter 334: Escape from Danger
Chapter 334: Escape from Danger
After resting at home for several days, the Emperor finally sent someone to inquire about the matter.
Seeing that there was no way to delay any longer, Song Miqiu had no choice but to agree to the emperor's request to return to the palace with him.
She looked at her daughter-in-law with great reluctance before leaving.
“Daughter-in-law, I have to go back to the palace again. You stay home and take good care of the children. If my son does anything bad to you, write to me and I will have to come out and deal with him.”
This was all done in front of so many people, and Song Miqiu's words made Qiu Tianlei feel extremely embarrassed.
"Mother, look at you, your son knows what to do. Hurry up and get in the carriage."
Seeing Qiu Tianlei's shy expression, Song Miqiu finally understood what was going on.
"Your mother is leaving. Wait for your mother to come home next time."
After saying a reluctant goodbye, they headed towards the palace.
Yu Huailin naturally went along with them; as the current prince, he was free to enter and leave the palace.
As soon as Song Miqiu arrived at the palace, he felt like he couldn't breathe. Before he could even warm up the stool, the young imperial physician who had just come in said that Taicheng was in trouble.
Upon hearing the name Ming Taicheng, Song Miqiu's ears perked up.
I quickly leaned over to listen carefully to find out what was going on.
"Have you heard that something happened to Imperial Physician Ming Taicheng?"
"Huh? I haven't heard about that. What happened?"
"You guys really don't take anything to heart. Don't you realize you haven't seen Ming Taicheng at the Imperial Hospital for two days straight?"
"Now that you mention it, it's true. In the past, he would definitely have been the first to appear at the Imperial Hospital. Now tell me what happened, stop keeping me in suspense."
Upon hearing this, Song Miqiu also realized that if Ming Taicheng had returned in the past, he would have been waiting for her at the Imperial Hospital long ago. This time, he hadn't seen him at all, and he had been sitting in the Imperial Hospital in a daze for almost an hour. If Ming Taicheng were really here, he would have dragged her to study some random medicinal herbs long ago.
Song Miqiu sensed something was wrong, so he squatted down and pretended to play with the medicine in his hand, while listening intently.
"I heard that Makoto Minta fell and hurt his leg yesterday!"
"Oh? Where did you fall? Is it serious? Should we go and see you?"
“Ming Taicheng dislikes people visiting him the most, so we'd better not go. But isn't it strange that the place where Ming Taicheng fell is right in front of our Imperial Hospital?”
"Right here? That's impossible. The ground inside the palace isn't as smooth as the ground in front of our gate. It's impossible to slip and hurt your leg here."
The Imperial Hospital sees a lot of people coming and going every day, so the entrance has long been worn smooth by countless footsteps. The imperial physicians often joke about it.
"That's why it's so strange. Moreover, after Ming Taicheng broke his leg, he took seven days off. I wonder how serious the injury was. Also, on the first day of Ming Taicheng's leave, a new person came to take charge of our Imperial Hospital. Don't you think there's something fishy going on here?"
Song Miqiu finally understood. It seemed that Ming Taicheng had been framed while he was alone in the palace during her absence.
However, now that I'm back in the palace, how could I let Ming Taicheng suffer such an injustice? I'll have to meet that new person who just took over the Imperial Hospital sooner or later and find out what's going on with him.
Song Miqiu pondered this in his heart.
He was so preoccupied with devising a plan that he was discovered by the imperial physicians.
"Were you eavesdropping on our conversation?"
Song Miqiu rubbed her nose and retorted without batting an eye.
"Do you think I'm bored enough to eavesdrop on your conversation? Do you even know who I am?"
The newly arrived imperial physician had only been there a few days and naturally did not know Song Miqiu's name, so he just thought she was acting crazy.
I didn't bother with him and went to work elsewhere.
Song Miqiu was still thinking about what had just happened. Ming Taicheng must be feeling terrible, injured and alone at home.
"No, I need to figure out how to get the Emperor's permission to visit Ming Taicheng."
He made a decision in his heart.
Since she was already there, Song Miqiu decided to do some work. She went back to her room and huddled in a corner, studying medical texts and herbs.
"I know that once Mingtai Makoto's leg heals, he'll say I'm not taking it seriously and that my medical skills haven't improved at all. I'll work harder and show him my true abilities."
As Song Miqiu studied the medical texts, she pondered how she could win the Emperor's favor.
"Isn't the emperor, the ruler of a country, most willing to live a long life? Wouldn't it be great if I could figure it out?"
It would be strange if Song Miqiu could invent an elixir of immortality on a whim, something that had been impossible to research for hundreds of years.
I flipped through those medical books over and over, but they seemed as complex as astronomy; I couldn't understand them at all.
After about ten minutes, Song Miqiu threw the book down and gave up.
A brilliant idea struck me.
"Why don't I check if it's in the system? It must have it there, or at least something that can prolong human life."
Full of anticipation, Song Miqiu activated the system.
"They gave me a drug that could make people live forever."
The system replied a few seconds later, "No results found. Please re-enter."
After several attempts, the system consistently gave the "agree" response, and Song Miqiu sighed, unable to close the system.
"Why is it so difficult?"
He wailed as he picked up the medical book from the ground and placed it on his lap to read it obediently.
Time flies when you're studying, and before you know it, it's lunchtime.
Song Miqiu stood up, stretched, and swayed her head from side to side.
"I'm starving, let's go eat first."
As he spoke, he went to the kitchen.
Song Miqiu was never used to eating with unfamiliar people, so he served himself rice in the kitchen and then sat down in the courtyard to eat.
I had just sat down and hadn't even had a chance to eat a bite of my food when I saw a small orange kitten sitting in front of me.
She seems a little afraid of people.
Song Miqiu waved to it and shoved some food from the bowl onto the ground, hoping the kitten would eat some too.
The kitten walked over after seeing the food.
Song Miqiu affectionately stroked the kitten's head.
"Kitty, eat more, you'll be cuter if you get a little chubby."
But the kitten stopped eating the next second.
Song Miqiu didn't understand what was going on when she saw the kitten's neck twitching incessantly.
"What's wrong? Kitty, what's wrong?"
Within minutes, the kitten collapsed to the ground.
Song Miqiu was so startled that she almost dropped the bowl and chopsticks.
She forced herself to calm down, thankfully she hadn't had a chance to eat a bite of food yet.
Looking at the kitten lying on the ground, Song Miqiu felt a pang of heartache; it had saved her life.
It was obvious that someone in the Imperial Hospital or the entire palace wanted to kill him.
That person was definitely watching him from not far away, and Song Miqiu needed to stay calm, especially at times like this.
