Chapter 331 Skiing, Following
Chapter 331 Skiing, Following
The scenery on the mountain is beautiful, but it gets boring after a while.
Yao Yao rubbed her hands together, her nose red from the cold: "Husband, shall we go back? My hands are all stiff."
Lin Chen glanced at her and smiled: "Okay, let's go back, but we won't turn back."
Yao Yao blinked: "Then how do we get down?"
Lin Chen took a few steps toward the edge of the cliff and looked down at the long snow slope below.
The slope was just right, the snow was thick enough, and it stretched all the way to the foot of the mountain with almost no obstacles in between.
He turned around, looked at the women, and a playful smile appeared on his lips.
"Slide down."
Yao Yao was stunned: "Slide down? With what?"
Lin Chen didn't say anything, but with a wave of his hand, several planks, some ropes, and some weapons appeared out of thin air in front of him.
These random things, I don't even know when they were stuffed into my space, but they come in handy now.
Blue Phoenix leaned closer to take a look, her face full of doubt:
"Husband, what are you doing?"
"Snowboards!"
Lin Chen squatted down and began to assemble the puzzle with nimble hands and feet.
The wooden planks were flattened, the front ends were bent by baking, and the weapons were directly nailed to the bottom with polished nails to act as sliding strips. Ropes were used to tie out foot covers.
He was quick with his hands; with a surge of his true energy, wood chips flew everywhere, and iron pieces turned into molten iron, changing shape according to his will, taking shape in just a few moments.
In the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, five skateboards were neatly arranged on the snow.
Yao Yao squatted down beside her, her eyes wide with amazement:
"Husband, are these the skis you mentioned? Will they work?"
Lin Chen stood up, clapped his hands, and said smugly, "Why don't you try and see?"
Yao Yao picked up a skateboard and examined it from all angles, clicking her tongue in amazement.
Blue Phoenix tested the tightness of the foot covers and nodded in satisfaction.
Liu Shengxue took a pair, weighed them in her hand, and began to tie her feet.
Liu Sheng Piao Piao stood at the very back, looking at the skateboard, a little nervous.
Lin Chen handed her the lightest and smallest pair: "Use this one, don't be afraid, I'll teach you."
Liu Sheng Piaopiao took it, ran her fingers along the wooden board, and whispered:
"Thank you, brother-in-law."
Lin Chen put his skateboard on the ground, stepped on it, leaned forward slightly, and "whoosh," he shot off, drawing a beautiful arc on the snow.
After sliding for more than ten feet, it made a beautiful turn and came back, stopping steadily in front of the girls, with snowflakes splashing all over Yao Yao's face.
"How is it?"
Although he hadn't skied much in his previous life, his strong control allowed him to quickly master the skill.
Yao Yao wiped the snow off her face, both angry and amused: "You did that on purpose!"
Lin Chen laughed heartily: "Come on, I'll teach you."
The teaching scene became chaotic at one point.
Blue Phoenix was the bravest. She stepped on it and rushed down, but after sliding only two zhang, she sat down on the snow with a thud and slid a long way away, screaming "Husband, save me!"
Yao Yao laughed until she was done before going up to help her, but she forgot that she wasn't very good at it either, and almost bumped into a cedar tree.
Yuki Yagyu had the best talent; she was able to skate steadily after only two tries.
Although the speed was not fast, the posture was graceful, and the white clothes fluttered in the wind, like a white crane flying over the snow.
Liu Sheng Piaopiao stood to the side, clutching her skateboard, too afraid to move. Lin Chen walked over and placed her skateboard on the ground.
"Come on, I'll show you."
Liu Sheng Piao Piao blushed and carefully stepped on it. Her body swayed, and she quickly grabbed Lin Chen's arm.
Lin Chen stood behind her, one hand on her shoulder and the other holding her hand:
"Lean forward, don't be afraid, you won't fall."
Liu Sheng Piaopiao took a deep breath and slowly glided forward.
Lin Chen followed her, his steps light and airy, as if floating on the snow.
After gliding for more than ten zhang, Liu Sheng Piaopiao gradually found her footing, her body stopped swaying, and her speed increased.
Her eyes lit up, and she turned around to say something, but her foot slipped, and she fell backward.
Lin Chen grabbed her waist and gently pulled her to steady her.
Liu Sheng Piaopiao leaned against Lin Chen's chest, her face burning hot. She quickly stood up straight, lowered her head, and dared not look at Lin Chen.
Lin Chen smiled and released his grip: "Continue."
After playing for about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, the girls had all become quite skilled at skating.
Yao Yao was the craziest, rushing down the slope, screaming and laughing, her hair a mess in the wind.
Blue Phoenix followed behind her, occasionally reaching out to pull her back to prevent her from bumping into a tree.
Yagyu Yuki skied the most steadily, following at the very back at a leisurely pace, occasionally glancing at Yagyu Piaopiao to make sure she was still there.
Liu Sheng Piaopiao gradually found her rhythm. Although she wasn't moving fast, she was no longer falling. She had a smile on her face and her eyes were sparkling.
The sun was already setting in the west, casting its rays obliquely on the snow and turning the entire mountain into a pale gold.
The wind had died down, and occasionally a gust would come by, swirling up a few flakes of snow that glittered in the sunlight.
Lin Chen, riding his skateboard at the front, glanced back at the girls and smiled.
"Keep up, don't fall behind."
He lightly touched the ground with his toes, and shot out like an arrow, drawing a long arc on the snow slope.
The girls followed behind, screaming, laughing, and shouting, their voices echoing through the valley.
As Yao Yao skated, she called out, "Husband, wait for me!" Lan Fenghuang laughed at her from behind, "Hurry up!"
Liu Sheng Piaopiao bit her lip and followed closely, her face flushed with excitement.
……
at the foot of the mountain.
Yan Da parked the carriage behind a large, sheltered rock, and lit a fire next to it. An iron kettle sat on the fire, bubbling and steaming.
Seeing Lin Chen rush down the hillside on a wooden plank, followed by four women, each more disheveled than the last, his lips twitched, and he quickly stood up.
Lin Chen braked suddenly in front of the carriage, splashing snowflakes all over Yan Da's face.
The girls arrived one after another. Yao Yao rushed ahead and plunged headfirst into the snowdrift. She was pulled out by Lan Fenghuang like a radish, her head and face covered in snow.
Liu Sheng Piaopiao was the last to arrive. She slid over unsteadily and almost crashed into the carriage, but Lin Chen grabbed her and pulled her back.
She steadied herself, panting, her face flushed, her eyes shining.
"Is it fun?" Lin Chen asked.
Liu Sheng Piaopiao nodded, her eyes almost disappearing as she laughed: "It's fun."
Lin Chen put away the skateboard and got into the carriage.
The girls followed, with Lan Fenghuang being the last. Before getting into the car, she looked back at the mountain road.
The mountain road was deserted, with only the ski tracks left by the skiers, winding and twisting down the mountain.
She looked away and got into the carriage.
The carriage started moving and swayed back home.
The carriage was warm and cozy. Yao Yao nestled in a corner, hugging a hand warmer, dozing off with her eyes half-closed, her head nodding off.
Yagyu Yuki leaned against the cushion, holding a book in her hand, but didn't turn a single page for a long time.
Lan Fenghuang closed her eyes to rest, her breathing steady, as if she were asleep.
Liu Sheng Piao Piao sat upright, her small hands on her knees, her eyes fixed on the tips of her shoes, and a smile on her lips.
Lin Chen leaned against the window, closed his eyes, and his divine sense spread out silently like a net, covering the entire snow-capped mountain behind him.
There was nothing there.
But he knew someone was following him.
From the moment I started descending the mountain, the feeling of being watched never stopped.
It wasn't malicious; it was more like an observation.
Lin Chen smiled, withdrew his divine sense, and ignored it.
The carriage traveled for about an hour and returned to Xijing City.
The city gates were already closed, but the soldiers guarding the city saw the flags hanging there and quickly opened the side gates.
The carriage drove in, and the streets were deserted. The shops on both sides were closed, and only a few lanterns swayed in the wind.
The patrolling soldiers stopped at a distance when they saw the carriage and stood by the roadside to salute.
Lin Chen lifted the carriage curtain and glanced inside: "Yan Da, has the new prefect arrived yet?"
Yan Da's voice came from outside:
"Reporting to my lord, he arrived at noon today. His surname is Chen, and his name is Chen Mingyuan. He used to be a secretary in the Ministry of Revenue. I heard he is quite reliable in his work."
Lin Chen nodded: "Have him come to see me tomorrow."
"Yes."
The carriage stopped in front of the General's Mansion. Lin Chen jumped out of the carriage and stretched.
The moon had already risen, hanging on the city wall, big and round, illuminating the entire courtyard with a silvery glow.
He glanced back at the direction outside the city and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
