One received the serum and has unlimited stamina. The other has a self-healing factor and is tireless.
The worst off was Dugan, who was just an ordinary person.
He hadn't gone far when he started panting heavily, his breath coming out in white puffs that looked like wisps of ghosts.
"Damn it... this awful weather..." He slipped and almost fell.
A large hand grabbed his arm; it was Steve.
"Stay close." The captain's voice was steady in the wind.
Dugan gritted his teeth, swallowed the curse, and continued walking with his head down.
Logan walked in front.
His steps were as light as a lynx's, requiring almost no flashlight. His nose twitched in the air, discerning all the information brought by the wind and snow.
Logan suddenly raised his hand, lowered his body, and became one with a piece of snow rock.
Steve and Dugan immediately crouched down.
"Something's up?" Steve asked in a low voice.
Logan didn't answer, but pressed his ear to the snow.
After a moment, he opened his eyes.
"Patrol team. Three people. Ten o'clock, three hundred meters away."
Steve and Dugan were startled. Three hundred meters? How did he even figure that out in this crazy weather?
"Captain, don't panic." Chu Hang's voice rang directly in Steve's mind. "Logan's intuition is right. It is indeed a three-person patrol team approaching you. They are expected to pass by in one minute and forty-seven seconds."
This is Chu Hang's newly developed ability, [Mind Message]. Only those with strong mental power and sufficient trust in him can receive it.
Currently, only Steve meets the criteria.
“They don’t have thermal imaging, and the snowstorm is their best cover. Don’t move, wait for them to pass,” Chu Hang added.
Steve felt much more at ease and gave the other two a "hide" gesture.
The three people lay motionless in the snow, their breathing slowed down.
Soon, three Hydra soldiers dressed in white camouflage uniforms walked past them, cursing and swearing.
"Damn! This place is no place for a human to live!"
"The general ordered us to patrol, but he's sitting by the fire himself!"
"Keep your voice down! Do you want to be sent to be a test subject?"
They had no idea that death was right under their noses.
The three of them stood up only after the footsteps disappeared.
Dugan and Steve looked at Logan with a newfound respect.
Unbeknownst to them, the real monster was lying in the cabin watching the live stream.
With Chu Hang's full-map early warning and Logan's field experience, they bypassed two patrol teams and a hidden sentry without incident.
Half an hour later, they reached their target ridge.
It's all bare here, and the wind is so strong you can barely stand.
“This is it,” Steve said, looking at the compass.
"Chu, where is that 'eye'?" Steve asked in his mind.
"Roger that, Captain," Chu Hang's voice rang out. "The target is approaching from the east and will fly over your heads in one minute and thirty seconds. The altitude is 148 meters. I will remind you when to make your move."
Steve gave the order.
Dugan immediately tied the C4 package to a crooked pine tree.
Logan unhooked the grappling hook, secured one end of the rope to C4, and looped the other end around a frozen rock, gripping it tightly in his hand.
This was a simple yet effective trap, Chu Hang's idea.
“Chu, countdown.” Steve knelt on one knee, gripped his shield tightly, and stared at the dark sky.
"Received. Thirty seconds..."
"Twenty seconds..."
"Ten, nine, eight..."
Logan's arm muscles bulged, and veins stood out.
Dugan's finger hovered over the detonator button, his forehead covered in cold sweat.
"Five, four, three, two..."
"Now!" Chu Hang and Steve's voices rang out simultaneously.
"Get up there, you son of a bitch!"
Logan let out a beastly roar and yanked the rope hard!
With a "crack," the bent pine tree suddenly straightened up, shooting the black C4 package fiercely into the night sky!
The package traced a parabola, heading straight for the coordinates marked by Chu Hang.
"Detonate!" Steve roared.
Dugan pressed the button without hesitation!
In an instant, the world turned white.
Silence as death.
Then, a deafening explosion rang out.
The entire mountain ridge trembled violently, and a huge shockwave, carrying scorching air and metal fragments, rained down from the sky.
Steve immediately raised his shield to protect the two people behind him. Red-hot metal fragments struck the shield, sending sparks flying, but leaving no mark.
After the explosion, darkness returned.
In Chu Hang's perception, the annoying "buzzing" sound had completely disappeared.
The first phase of the main mission "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" has been completed.
The Hydra camp at the foot of the mountain was instantly thrown into chaos.
The piercing alarm blared through the valley, and countless searchlights swept across the valley.
"What's going on! The signal from the Eye of Odin has been interrupted!"
"Reporting, General! The western cliff area has lost surveillance!"
"Damn it! It's those rats! They're trying to break out through the cliff! All troops, move to the western cliff and surround them! Block them there!"
"We...did it!" Dugan shouted excitedly, his voice trembling with emotion.
"Don't get too excited." Logan spat out some snow and looked down the mountain. "We've stirred up a hornet's nest."
Hundreds and thousands of points of light were rushing toward them from the forest below the mountain.
They were exposed, but they also seized their only chance.
"Chu! Tell everyone! Prepare to break out!" Steve yelled at the air, then grabbed Dugan and Logan. "Let's go! To the cliff! Quickly!"
When the explosion was heard, all team members rushed outside immediately.
"It's the captain's signal!"
"They succeeded!"
"Ready to fight!"
Just then, Chu Hang's "weak" but clear voice rang in everyone's ears.
"Captain's order: All personnel, immediately break through to the western cliff!"
"Now! Immediately!"
As soon as he finished speaking, he was the first to grab his rifle and stagger out of the cabin.
He looked like he could be blown over by the wind and snow at any moment, but his eyes were frighteningly bright.
Without hesitation, the members of the Roaring Commando roared and followed the "shaky" figure, rushing into the vast snowy night.
The counterattack has officially begun.
Chapter 49 Dead End
Chapter Forty-Nine: A Dead End
The door of the wooden house was blown to pieces.
Chu Hang was the first to be thrown out by the blast wave, staggering and almost falling over.
The cold wind, carrying snowflakes, lashed his face. He swayed, gripped the old rifle tightly, and tried to control his muscles to make himself tremble even more.
"Keep up with him! Protect him!"
"Falsworth roared. The bearded man stood like a wall in front of Chu Hang, blocking most of the wind and snow."
The people inside rushed out, without screams, only panting and the clanging of equipment. These veterans, once outside, automatically formed a circle, their gun barrels scanning the surroundings warily.
Jones, the communications soldier with the worst physical fitness, was placed in the very center.
Chu Hang was surrounded by them at the core.
These soldiers had a simple mindset: if the captain said this person was important, then he was more important than their own lives.
Chu Hang thought to himself, "He's quite loyal," while continuing to pretend to be frozen stiff.
The snow was deep; one step down and it was up to your calves. Traveling in this kind of place, your stamina was depleted very quickly.
The team moved with difficulty through the wind and snow, with only the crunching of snow underfoot and heavy breathing all around them.
Chu Hang, caught in the middle, coughed a few times in cooperation.
He silently repeated to himself, "Let's get started."
