Chapter 103 What are you pretending for?
Chapter 103 What are you pretending for?
Shen Qi's voice was deep, steady, and powerful; every word he spoke sounded like a vow.
Chu Li seemed to be suddenly awakened; she abruptly raised her eyes.
"Shen Qi, will she acknowledge us?"
The man's voice was soft and gentle.
“Ali, whether she acknowledges us or not doesn’t really matter. We can still do what we can for her and protect her future.”
"We just want her to be happy, don't we?"
Shen Qi's words seemed to have a seductive quality, yet they were also highly persuasive.
Chu Li suddenly realized, breaking free from her own mental trap. Yes, she did want her child to have a good life.
It's good enough if she can be happy every day.
Chu Li pushed away the man clinging to her and quickly walked to the bedside, searching for her phone which she had carelessly left lying around.
Shen Qi clenched his suddenly empty hand with a hint of regret, but seeing Chu Li's unusually happy expression, he couldn't help but smile.
"Don't worry about finding your phone. I've already contacted a stylist for you. They'll be here soon."
A shadow flashed by outside the wide door.
"Hey, miss, watch your step! A vase just broke here and hasn't been cleaned up yet!"
The maid, carrying a glass of milk, hurriedly called out to remind her, only to be met with surprise as her mistress stumbled and ran downstairs, seemingly lost in thought, completely ignoring her.
"Ah, watch your step."
Another servant, who was cleaning up the debris on the ground, hadn't even seen who was coming when a figure flashed past her and stepped onto the glass without hesitation.
She got up and looked in horror at the blood-stained footprints on the ground.
Has the young lady gone mad?!
With so much blood lost, don't you feel any pain at all?!
Shen Lu ran downstairs numbly, charging forward with all her might, as if a demon was chasing after her.
Bloodstained footprints covered the entire corridor, making it look like a blatant crime scene.
She ran for a very long time, until she was finally exhausted and seemed to finally feel the excruciating pain in her feet reaching deep into her heart.
Shen Lu covered her eyes, tears streaming through her fingers. She sat on the grass, disheveled and filthy, sobbing uncontrollably.
Why?!
Why did they only find out not long ago that they weren't the Shen family's biological daughter, and then they found their biological daughter shortly afterward?
What about her?
What should she do?!
Her parents never even mentioned their real daughter to her.
These days, Shen Qi treats her like she doesn't exist, and Shen Ke doesn't know what she's been busy with all day.
Even Chu Li has been unusually cold to her these past few days.
She's their daughter too, whom they raised!
Can a thin blood relationship really sever all the feelings between them?
Then what is she?!
"Wang Wang Wang"
A menacing wild dog ran out from the woods behind Shen Lu, seemingly drawn by the scent of blood that excited it, and wagged its tail around her.
"Get away from me, you damned beast, get out of my way!"
Shen Lu felt a sharp pain in her ankle and screamed as she retreated, clinging to the tree behind her, hopping and stumbling backward in a disheveled manner.
The wild dog's eyes seemed bloodshot, its hungry, green eyes fixed on Shen Lu's bleeding ankle. It raised its front paws, preparing to crouch and leap.
"Get out of the way, get out of the way!" Shen Lu panicked and, ignoring the pain in her ankle, ran forward like a madwoman.
The stray dogs behind them seemed even more excited.
"Help! Is anyone there?!"
She hadn't really lost her mind yet; she frantically ran around the tree. People can always unleash unlimited potential when faced with a sudden crisis.
Shen Lu actually climbed the tree.
Blood was still seeping from her ankle, trickling down her fair skin; the shocking wounds covered her feet.
She was still somewhat dazed and confused; why was she climbing a tree?
She had never learned any of this before!
The stray dogs were still circling under the tree, seemingly unwilling to leave with their tails between their legs.
"Shen Lu, what are you doing here? I've finally found you."
Shen Ke's tone was somewhat urgent, and a thin layer of sweat covered his forehead. He was carrying a long silver golf club in his hand. Looking at the stray dogs under the tree, he walked towards them with the club in one hand.
"Brother, help me! It bit me!"
Shen Lu finally saw her savior and hurriedly shouted for help.
"Woof woof...woof woof..."
The stray dog seemed frightened by the man carrying the golf club, stretching out its paws and backing away, but its green eyes remained fixed on the bloodstain.
"roll!"
Shen Ke gave a low shout, picked up his golf club, and smashed it in its direction. The man's strength was so great that a small crater was immediately smashed into the barren grass.
The stray dog growled loudly, and after being chased away by Shen Ke once more, it finally whimpered and tucked its tail between its legs into the depths of the woods.
"Little deer, come down, it's alright now." Shen Ke looked at her younger sister's terrified eyes and bleeding ankle, feeling anxious.
Shen Lu's feet were numb, or rather, her whole body was numb. She numbly climbed down the tree trunk, her movements skillful and professional. Even Shen Ke, watching from behind, was stunned for a moment.
When did his sister learn to climb trees?
Shen Lu was helped into the car by Shen Ke. She seemed less frightened, and her expression gradually returned as she looked at the unfamiliar road ahead.
Her voice seemed emotionless and cold.
Where are you taking me? Don't you want me anymore either?
Shen Ke stepped on the gas and sped off, not having time to process what he had just heard. It was as if the words had only brushed past his ears.
He continued speaking haphazardly, his eyes fixed intently on the road.
"Don't be afraid, little sister, we'll be at the hospital soon, just bear with it a little longer!"
Shen Lu sat silently in the passenger seat, not uttering a single word until they arrived at the hospital.
Shen Ke assumed her foot hurt and didn't pay much attention.
Finally, they arrived at the hospital, where the head doctor, who was waiting for Shen Ke, quickly came out and pushed the wheelchair.
"Young Master Shen, over here."
Shen Ke pushed Shen Lu into the examination room, and fearing that the young lady might be inconvenienced, he quickly went out.
"Call your brother if you need anything, okay?"
Shen Ke spoke with her back turned.
He seemed not to hear the reply and repeated himself.
Shen Lu finally spoke, giving a cold "hmm".
Before long, the Shen couple also arrived at the scene.
Chu Li looked at the consultation room inside, her feelings complicated. After all, she was the daughter she had raised for so many years.
She said, "I'll go in and see her."
Chu Li pushed open the door and entered.
The door closed.
A glint of light flashed in Shen Qi's eyes.
His expression was unreadable as he asked, "Where did you run into her?"
Shen Ke had just finished washing the blood off his hands when he looked up and said, "In a small grove of trees two kilometers to the left of our house."
Shen Qi seemed to say with disdain, "I don't know where your brain is."
Shen Ke was bewildered. What was wrong with him?
Shen Qi stared intently at the closed consultation room door.
He was worried about Ali.
as predicted,
When Chu Li entered, she saw Shen Lu's ankle, which had been bitten so badly that the veins were almost showing, and her brow twitched. She asked worriedly,
"Little deer, does it hurt a lot?"
Shen Lu said indifferently, "What are you pretending for?"
