Chapter 79 The Death of the Bone Tengu
Dou Tang rested for a day at his temporary lodgings, changed into a black suit, and dressed like... someone going to a funeral.
It is indeed a funeral. Tonight will be the death day of the Bone Tengu, and also the death day of Ejima Izai, the school doctor.
He hopped on his motorcycle; it was dusk, the hour of twilight, and he was on his way to see Ryuyong Kamizen.
The gate to the Shinzen family's house was open. When Tou Tang arrived, he saw Shinzen Ryuuyu standing in the dark golden light of the setting sun, dressed in a black suit, with a serious and sad expression.
Standing beside him was Ringo Shinsen, a shrine maiden who usually loved wearing sportswear, but now she was dressed in a long black dress that looked like something you'd only wear to a funeral.
Dou Tang stopped his motorcycle and asked, "Ready?"
“If my friend needs release…” Ryuuichi Shinzen paused, then closed his eyes: “Then I will release him.”
“I’m glad to see that you have this awareness.” Dou Tang then looked at Shinqian Ringo: “I’m also glad to see that your family relationship has been restored.”
Ringo Shinzen continued to scrutinize him with curiosity, wondering about Tou Tang's true identity.
Dou Tang had no intention of explaining, and simply said, "Alright, let's get ready and set off now."
Ryuuichi Kamiya nodded, concealing the sadness on his face.
………………
run.
Running in the corridor where the students had already left.
Running down a hallway where nobody cares about you.
In my mind, no, I no longer have a mind.
Deep down, no, I no longer have a heart.
In the vast emptiness of his chest, in the hollow skull, in the unseen depths of his soul, those remnant spirits continued to shriek, relentlessly assaulting his will.
His bones were cracking and popping. He thought he had gotten used to the fake sounds of bones colliding, but today they sounded jarring, even unbearably so.
If it were my own bones, they certainly wouldn't make that sound.
If it were my own body, it certainly wouldn't be so annoying!
Wearing a white coat, Ejima Iya ran wildly through the school, becoming increasingly annoyed as he looked at the bright spots that appeared in his eyes.
Those were his own bones, his own body that should have belonged to him, but it was sealed inside the wall, and he couldn't touch it.
Forget the past, forget the cause of death, and find no peace after death. Everything that proves you were alive is dismantled into hundreds of pieces and buried in cold reinforced concrete.
What did I do wrong to deserve this punishment?
Was I once an unforgivable sinner?
A hopeless bastard who is insulted by thousands and scorned by tens of thousands?
This pain tormented him, making him feel as if his soul was being torn apart by the agony of self-doubt.
His body was scattered on the ground, his memories buried within, but he didn't even have the ability to... dig those things out and piece them back together.
Now I can see the rest of my body. I'm determined to piece together the complete Ejima Izai!
He rushed back to the textbook room, grabbed the steel frame from which the skeleton was hanging, and ran toward the nearest bone.
"throat!"
The steel frame smashed a small dent into the wall.
Undeterred, he continued to raise his hand and smash, but this time, it seemed as if a phantom was standing behind him, accompanying him.
"boom!"
The steel frame was instantly bent, and the wall seemed to have exploded, with an unusual force bursting out and creating the scene before our eyes.
Izayoi Ejima didn't care why his strength had suddenly increased, but instead reached out his trembling hand to touch the hole in the wall.
"Come out, come out!"
He used all his strength to pull out a slightly yellowed bone.
His hands were still trembling, and a piece of pale white plastic bone in his hand suddenly fell off by itself.
He put the finger bone back in its proper place on the ground and breathed a sigh of relief.
Then, a sharp pain surged through my consciousness again, and certain memories flashed before my eyes like flickering images. It wasn't the awakening of memories, but a return to them.
Pain made him prostrate on the ground, kneeling humbly, clutching his shoulder in agony.
"Ah, ah ah..."
Her voice was choked with sobs.
Why should I suffer like this?
The skeletal hand groped on the ground, its fingers digging into the earth like claws, tearing apart the reinforced concrete and rubber floor as easily as tearing apart tender tofu.
Then, Ejima Izai slowly got up.
His eyes flickered with light and shadow composed of images, which, as they flickered, formed a sphere, like an eyeball formed from memories.
With those eyes, he began to move unsteadily toward the next bone, as if he were in some kind of hallucination.
With fingers forming a knife, the slender hand bones pierced directly into the wall, removing a piece of bone as easily as taking something out of a bag.
Another bone was added.
As darkness fell outside the window, the setting sun cast a blood-red glow, but Ejima Iya's figure was enveloped in a layer of eerie blue light.
………………
As soon as Dou Tang arrived at the school gate, he felt a chill and a sensory alert.
A high-level evil spirit is nearby, and is even slowly transforming.
Strong.
Dou Tang looked at the campus in front of him.
Completely different from the usual campus, although the sun had not yet completely set, the campus in front of us already felt cold. It was only the beginning of autumn, but it felt as cold as winter.
The entire campus was enveloped in an invisible shroud of cold, exuding an aura that kept strangers at bay.
“The seal… there must be something wrong with the seal. If it were just the head that was dug out, it wouldn’t be like this…” Ryuuichi Shinzen said in despair.
Dou Tang, however, remained expressionless. He pulled a bag from the back of the motorcycle and said, "Let's go in and see for ourselves."
After saying that, he raised his hand and threw the bag over the wall.
"Wait..." Ryuuichi Shinzen seemed to have something to say.
But Dou Tang ignored him, suddenly leaped, pushed off the wall, reached the top of the wall, pulled himself up, and jumped over the wall.
Dou Tang waited on the other side of the wall for a while, then clicked his tongue and said, "What's going on? Can't these two even climb over the wall?"
"Kiryu-kun..." At that moment, Ryuuichi Kamizen's voice suddenly came from behind.
Dou Tang turned around, carrying his bag in one hand, and saw that it was Ryuichi Kami and Ringo Kami.
Ryuuichi Kamiya chuckled awkwardly twice: "Kiryu-kun, I have the key to the main gate..."
Dou Tang pursed his lips awkwardly.
"Alright, let's go." After saying that, he hurriedly headed towards the gate.
Ryuuichi and Ringo followed, and then Ryuuichi asked curiously, "Kiryu-kun, what's in that bag you're carrying?"
"bone."
Dou Tang didn't even turn his head.
"His bones."
At this moment, he had already spotted a strange figure squatting on the ground at the entrance of the teaching building, seemingly digging a hole.
It was a skeleton.
The skeleton, dressed in a white coat, was taking a thin bone from the ground and attaching it to its forearm.
His bones were covered in a blue light, which was growing brighter and brighter.
Chapter 80 The Hero's Choice
It was obvious that Ejima Izai was acting strangely.
He lay prone on the ground, his body pressed very close to the ground, his skull strangely tilted upwards, staring at Dou Tang.
"Kiryu-kun, what brings you here?"
He seemed completely unaware of his own strangeness, his jaw agape, and a clear yet eerie voice rang out: "You haven't been to school for the past few days, and your teacher has been quite worried about you."
Dou Tang cautiously refrained from stepping forward, and said while carrying the bag, "Teacher Jiangdao, please get up first, the ground is cold."
"Lying on the ground like this doesn't look good."
Behind him, Ryuuichi Shinzen's eye twitched.
What kind of talk is this? It's like you're visiting a friend's house.
Jiangdao Yizai then got up from the ground, dusted himself off, and looked curiously at the two people behind Doutang.
"Kiryu-kun, who are these two?"
A look of pain and guilt flashed across Ryuu's face as he opened his mouth and said, "Izai, you... don't you recognize me?"
Jiangdao Yizai paused. His skull face, shrouded in blue light, was expressionless, but the trembling of his body revealed that he seemed to be pondering and hesitating.
"You are...you are my friend from my past life? I think I remember you, you seem so familiar..."
"Yes, I am your friend. I am Ryuichi Kamizaki. Do you remember me?"
The light before Ejima Iya's eyes flickered incessantly, his eyeballs, composed of fragmented memories, began to spin wildly. Finally, he bowed his head in anguish: "Yes, I'm sorry, I can't remember, I can't recall..."
"You're my friend, right? A really good one, the kind of really good one?" His tone was hopeful, even pleading, pleading with Ryuichi Shinzen in front of him to acknowledge this, pleading with a friend from his past life to appear before him and tell him something about his life when he was alive.
Ryuichi Shinzen, hunched over, took two steps forward with his hands slightly raised, his eyes behind his glasses already blurry.
"Yes, I am. I'm your good friend, we're classmates. I... I'm sorry..."
Dou Tang interrupted him, throwing the bag in his hand forward: "Teacher Jiangdao, these are the bones I took away back then. You can put them back."
Jiangdao Yizai was clearly stunned. His already chaotic mind became even more confused, but the aura emanating from the bag in front of him... yes, the aura, captivated him. It was his own body, the most important pieces of the puzzle that made him whole.
Ringo Shinzen was utterly shocked. Ignoring the current situation, she exclaimed, "How do you have these bones! These bones..."
"They should have been poached by Fall Guys! You, what's your relationship with Fall Guys?!"
Dou Tang turned half her face to the side: "Miss, you shouldn't make a lot of noise at a funeral."
"What funeral? I'm asking you a question!" Ringo Shinzen ignored his evasive answers.
Dou Tang simply ignored her and stepped forward, saying, "Teacher Jiangdao, are you still rational? You seem to be acting very strangely right now."
"you!"
Just as Ringo Kamizaki was about to rush forward, she was pulled back by Ryuuichi Kamizaki beside her.
Jiangdao Yizai stood unsteadily, and Dou Tang stepped forward, not afraid of being attacked, and grabbed his arm.
"Mr. Jiangdao, can you still hear me?"
“Yes…” Ejima Iya’s voice was tinged with a bitter smile: “I’m just in a lot of pain. I’m sorry, Kiryu-kun.”
He looked up at Shenqian Longyong: "Shenqian"
"Long Yong... if I collect all the bones, then I should remember you, right?"
Shen Qianlong lowered his head, not daring to answer.
"What's with everyone making that face? It's like I'm about to die... No, I am already dead, it's like I'm about to die again..."
Dou Tang picked up the bag from the ground, opened it, revealing several bones inside, including leg bones and a few vertebrae. He then said, "Teacher Jiangdao, I have something to tell you."
"If you collect all the bones, you might not be able to come back."
Ejima Izai paused in his hand, which was reaching for the bones.
"Wha, what?"
