Chapter 57: The Kingdom of Gods
Chapter 57: The Kingdom of Gods
Chapter 58: The Kingdom of Gods
"This is Angel Island."
Mondado led the way while explaining, his tone full of pride: "We have lived in this kingdom of the gods for generations, under the protection of the divine."
Angel Island itself is composed of white clouds, but brightly colored buildings are scattered across it.
Castle-like white domed buildings intertwine with colorful spiral houses, interspersed with tall palm trees.
Further away, huge green vines connect to clouds of all sizes, and rainbow-colored arched cloud rings hang in the sky.
The island's inhabitants mostly wear loose white clothing and have a pair of small white feather wings on their backs.
People's faces were calm, but when they looked at the tall shrine in the center of the island, a deep sense of awe appeared between their brows.
Some residents would also cast curious glances at Oro and Gails.
The entire Angel Island was filled with a peaceful, even docile, atmosphere.
"The people here seem to be living quite well."
Gails whispered to Oro that although the residents here were not dressed fancy, they were at least clean, and their faces did not have the hostility and numbness that the residents of Mogu Town had developed from long struggles to survive.
Oro nodded slightly, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
The small boat docked at the bank of a river with clouds.
Guided by Mondado, Oro and Gails walked along a neatly paved stone path toward the most magnificent building on the cloud island—the Shrine of the Gods.
The interior of the shrine was spacious and solemn. The person sitting on the high platform at the deepest part was surprisingly young, looking no more than twenty years old.
The young man on the high platform wore a light green robe and an exquisite white and gold cloak with winding red patterns on it, symbolizing his high status.
He held a long scepter in his hand, with a wing-shaped decoration at the top.
This is Gan Fall, the "new god" who has only recently ascended to the throne among the angels.
The young Gan Fall was at this moment trying to maintain the dignity of being a "god".
He watched as Auro and Gails walked steadily into the hall; their imposing figures sent alarm bells through his mind.
This is no ordinary intruder into a blue ocean market.
"A visitor from the lower realms."
Gan Fall spoke, his voice booming, attempting to gain the upper hand in terms of imposing presence: "I am Gan Fall, the god of this place. You have trespassed into the kingdom of the gods without permission, and according to the laws of the Sky Island, you should be severely punished."
"But according to Captain Mondado's report, you are willing to pay a large sum of money to atone for your sins and request an audience with me. Now, state your purpose."
Oro completely ignored the ceremonial opening remarks and the so-called divine power.
His golden eyes stared directly at the angel god, and he got straight to the point: "Gan Fall, I'm not here on a pilgrimage. I'm here for two things."
He raised his hand and extended a finger, pointing out of the shrine window to the green island covered with huge vines.
"First, the land island next to it, called Apayado, was originally an integral part of Blue Ocean Gaya Island."
"About four hundred years ago, it was swept to this White Sea by a huge upwelling current."
"Therefore, Apayado and Gaya Island in the blue sea are the same piece of land located in the sky and the sea, respectively."
"Even in the current situation, Angel Island can be included and considered as one entity."
Without pausing, Oro extended his second finger: "Secondly, I know that you angels and Shandians have been fighting for Apayado for four hundred years."
"And now, I, Orikum Oro, as the master of Gaya Island, will end this dispute."
"I have promised the descendants of Montblanc that the bells of the Golden Country will once again resound across this sky and sea."
"That's impossible!"
Before the young god could refute, a member of the team wearing a white beret couldn't help but speak up: "Apayado is the territory of the gods! The Shandians are barbaric invaders! What right do you, a Blue Sea person, have—"
'
Oro didn't look at the player; his gaze remained fixed on Gan Fall, as he presented his final solution: "Arguing about who should be credited with history is pointless."
"I propose that the Angels, the Shandians, and the Gaya people, whom I represent, form a three-way political system."
"Angel Island, Apayado, and Gaya Island together form a unified regime."
"I, Orikum Oro, will serve as the supreme leader of this regime."
He raised his hand to stop any possible objections and continued, "The allocation of resources on the Sky Island and the joint development of Apayado must be led by me."
This groundbreaking proposal deeply moved the young Gan Fall, who knew firsthand the suffering of war and the preciousness of peace.
It was because he opposed endless conflict and longed for reconciliation and unity that he was chosen by the previous generation of gods to become a new god.
However, no matter how much he longed for peace, Gan Fall was, after all, a god, the ruler of the angels and Angel Island.
Centuries of tradition, the authority of the law, and the dignity of God all made it impossible for him to accept this almost presumptuous proposal.
To make an outsider, a Blue Sea person, the supreme ruler of Angel Island and Apayado?
"Arrogant!"
Gan Fall, determined to uphold God's authority, abruptly rose and slammed his scepter on the ground with a dull thud: "How dare a mere mortal interfere in the affairs of my divine kingdom? How can you so easily challenge God's authority?"
As he spoke, a subtle yet palpable aura began to press down on Oro.
Oro chuckled and took a step forward, unleashing an even more magnificent aura emanating from him.
This aura wasn't directed at anyone present, but it instantly shattered Gan Fall's oppressive presence.
The air in the hall seemed to freeze, and the white-bereted team members felt a pang of fear, almost unable to breathe.
Auro raised his right hand, and the golden lamp embedded on the side of the hall transformed into a small, liquid golden snake, which swam nimbly at his fingertips before finally solidifying into an exquisite golden rose, which he handed to Gale beside him.
Gails accepted the golden rose with delight, seemingly oblivious to the tense atmosphere around her.
Gan Fall clearly recognized the other party's unfathomable depth, and his absolute control over gold shocked him even more.
As a god of legitimate lineage, he was well aware of the vast gold reserves on Angel Island and Apayado.
If this man in front of me can control everything, then he can easily destroy the entire Angel Island.
The hall fell silent for a moment; both the angel gods and the angel warriors were speechless.
They're not stupid. What would happen if they refused a powerful individual with overwhelming strength?
At that point, it might not be about asking them to join, but about enslaving them.
After a long silence, Gan Fall took a deep breath, as if he had made up his mind.
He sat down again, his voice still relatively calm: "Your Excellency, Orikum, your proposal is far too outrageous for us to accept lightly."
But then he changed the subject: "However, Baihai has its own rules."
"For disputes that cannot be resolved, for those who challenge authority, we in the White Sea have an ancient tradition called the Trial of the Gods."
Oro raised an eyebrow, signaling him to continue.
"I will begin the trials of the gods for you. If you can pass the trials, you will prove that you have the strength and qualifications to match your ambitions."
"And if you can persuade the Shandians to agree to your peace plan—"
"Then, I, Gan Fall, on behalf of the Angel race, agree to join. Angel Island is willing to accept your allocation of resources to jointly develop Apayado."
This is the biggest concession Gan Fall can make.
They used the pretense of divine trials to maintain the dignity of "God" and the angel race, while cleverly shifting the focus of the conflict to the Shandians.
Moreover, if this man from the lower realm of the Blue Sea is truly a wise ruler, capable of extinguishing the flames of war that have burned for 400 years and leading the angel race to a better future...
The young god even hoped that Oro would succeed.
"A very interesting tradition."
Oro's voice echoed through the hall: "The Trial of the Gods? I accept."
