Chapter 34 Temporary Poisoning
Chapter 34 Temporary Poisoning
An unnamed shop in a deep alley in the Alchemy Workshop area.
Lady Weaver finished her daily instruction to Zeya and softly instructed him:
"If you don't have anything urgent to do lately, try not to leave the shop."
Zeya recalled Kane's earlier warning and couldn't help but worry:
"Teacher, what happened?"
Ms. Weaver hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but then stopped.
She glanced at Zeya's worried expression and ultimately just shook her head.
Just then, footsteps sounded from outside the door.
Kane appeared at the door.
"You've come!"
Zeya looked at him with surprise.
Kane nodded to her and offered a few words of simple reassurance.
Then he looked solemnly at Ms. Weaving Mist:
"Madam, would you like to speak with me privately?"
Zeya knew the matter was of great importance and saw that the teacher had given his tacit approval.
So he turned and went up to the attic, but he couldn't hide his worry.
"I'm sorry to have troubled you."
Kane's voice was low.
Ms. Weaver's attitude was cold:
"Don't bring the trouble you've caused onto Zeya..."
Kane did not offer any explanation, but remained silent.
Lady Mist paused, then continued:
"I can help you solve your problem..."
"In exchange, you'll stay at the shop from now on, and your salary will be one gold coin per week..."
A warm feeling swept through Kane's heart, but he quickly suppressed it.
He shook his head in apology:
"I'm sorry, I can't stay."
The last trace of gentleness on Lady Weaver's face vanished, and her expression turned cold.
Kane placed a cloth bag on the table.
"Here are ten gold coins. Please give them to Zeya later."
This money was something he had stolen from an information broker using the magic of a mage.
If his next plan succeeds, then this money will be unnecessary.
Seeing his seemingly bequeathing his orphanage, Lady Weaver frowned.
"Kid, what exactly are you planning to do?"
"Just do what needs to be done, ma'am."
After saying that, Kane turned and left.
Not long after he left, Zeya came down from the attic.
Lady Weaver pushed the money bag in front of her:
"This is what he left for you."
Zeya looked at the gold coins in the bag and thought of the warning she had received recently.
She couldn't help but look at Lady Weaver, tears welling up in her eyes:
"Teacher...please help him..."
Lady Weaver sighed softly as she looked at her disciple's tearful face.
……
Kane left the workshop and headed towards the stronghold of "Rust Hand" in the Seventh District.
He stroked the curved sword at his waist, silently reciting:
"The layout is complete, it's time to get started... and we've brought everything we need."
He looked up at the sky, which was covered with dark clouds but no rain was falling, and he couldn't help but feel a little helpless.
His water manipulation technique allows him to sense enemy movements by controlling water droplets, but its weaknesses are also obvious.
It can only manipulate water that is already in the environment, and is almost useless indoors or on sunny days unless you bring your own water.
What's more troublesome is that it cannot be cast simultaneously with the Mage's Hand.
"The hyena is dead, leaving only three first-tier professionals and more than twenty apprentices."
"According to our sources, they're all gathering at the warehouse tonight. If we miss this opportunity, we'll be in trouble."
"We can't wait for the rain to come any longer; we must resolve this as soon as possible."
He gripped his scimitar tightly and continued forward.
……
The night was deep, almost dawn.
This was precisely when the thugs were most relaxed.
Kane's figure slowly emerged from the shadows.
The two thugs at the door looked over warily.
"Who is it?"
The man before them was dressed as an adventurer, carrying a scimitar, and it seemed that a dagger was hidden under his robes.
Kane smiled:
"I'm the person you've been looking for lately."
The two thugs' expressions changed drastically. Before they could react, Kane had already charged forward!
The two hurriedly drew their swords, but only saw a flash of light.
A cold, sharp pain shot through my throat, and blood gushed out.
The two men groaned and collapsed to the ground one after the other.
The commotion at the door alerted those inside.
Another gang member, dressed in tattered leather armor, pushed open the door and poked his head out.
He caught sight of the corpse on the ground, was terrified, and opened his mouth to shout.
Just then, a one-handed sword that had fallen to the ground suddenly bounced up!
It shot out like an arrow, piercing straight through his throat!
"Three."
Kane muttered to himself as he pushed open the door and entered the warehouse.
Goods are piled up inside the warehouse, which is divided by wooden walls.
The shelves and wooden barrels divide the space in a winding and concealed manner.
Like a maze.
Kane fastened the latch behind him and disappeared behind rows of shelves.
After walking a few steps, footsteps suddenly came from the passage ahead.
Three gang thugs walked towards him, and their expressions changed drastically the moment they saw him:
"Enemy attack—!"
The three men immediately drew their weapons and charged forward with a roar.
Kane neither dodged nor evaded, his figure moving swiftly like a ghost, his blade flashing repeatedly.
puff!puff!puff!
Three muffled thuds rang out in succession, and three bodies fell to the ground one after another.
Warm blood spread across the cold ground.
Just then, a whooshing sound suddenly came from the side and behind!
Kane suddenly turned to the side, and a rapier grazed past him.
The hammer slammed into the grain sack behind it, and golden wheat grains scattered in a soft rustling sound.
The attacker was a handsome man, his rapier gleaming coldly.
He is clearly a professional.
"Kane, who killed the hyena... and you dare to deliver yourself to my doorstep."
The man's eyes were full of malice.
Kane glanced at him, his tone flat:
"You're the bard who's in the third seat?"
"Name... never mind, it's not important."
This dismissive attitude instantly enraged the other party.
He gave a low shout and thrust his rapier forward repeatedly.
Kane parried with his scimitar, retreating step by step until he was next to the corpse.
Suddenly.
The short sword in the corpse's hand suddenly flew into the air.
From the handsome man's blind spot, it suddenly shot towards his chest!
However, the other party seemed to have anticipated this and dodged to the side.
At the same time, with a flick of his wrist, a throwing knife shot out through the air.
With a clang, the short sword slammed heavily onto the ground.
Kane frowned.
"Highly perceptive and agile."
The profession of bard is inherently complex and unpredictable.
"What exactly is your profession? A thief who knows a few tricks?"
The handsome man stared intently at the scimitar in his hand, a greedy glint in his eyes.
"This weapon... is it an enchanted weapon?"
Kane did not answer, but took out a bottle of "Dark Water" potion and poured a little onto the blade.
The cold liquid flowed along the blade, slowly condensing into tiny ice crystals under the chill.
"Temporary poisoning?"
The handsome man chuckled and attacked with his rapier once more.
Kane raised his sword to parry, the sound of metal clashing against metal was deafening.
The moment the blades clashed, the uncondensed dark water on the blades was blasted away.
It transformed into several drops of water, shooting towards the handsome man's face.
The man instinctively turned his head to avoid it.
Unexpectedly, the scattered water droplets suddenly coalesced into a ball in mid-air.
Like a living thing, it turned and crawled into his mouth and nose!
"Ugh—!"
He quickly held his breath, but still inhaled a little.
He immediately stepped back, and in his shock and uncertainty, a sharp pain began to shoot through his abdomen.
"Laxatives?! Despicable..."
He lost his balance and his movements became sluggish.
Kane lunged forward, his scimitar sweeping across, knocking the rapier from his opponent's hand.
As the blade was about to fall, the bard closed his eyes in despair.
boom!
A heavy wooden barrel suddenly flew from the side, forcing Kane to take several steps back.
The handsome man, having narrowly escaped death, looked up in surprise.
Two people emerged from the shadows of the warehouse.
One was a lean man with two daggers tucked into his waistband.
The other is a tattooed woman wearing brass knuckles and holding a single-handed hammer.
The two men, one on the left and one on the right, surrounded Kane, forming a pincer attack.
"The mouse, after hiding for so long, has finally walked right into the trap?"
The woman sneered.
Kane remained calm:
"Since I'm here, it means I'm confident."
"grasp?"
The lean man chuckled, his eyes full of mockery.
"Three against one, what makes you think you can win?"
"Really?" Kane smiled. "Then..."
Before he could finish speaking...
He suddenly raised his hand, and the dagger at his waist flew through the air, heading straight for the handsome man who had collapsed on the ground!
The lean man reacted quickly, throwing the short dagger from his waist.
The two daggers collided in mid-air and fell to the ground with a clang.
But at that moment, the rapier that was originally in the corner suddenly sprang to life.
With a "whoosh," it pierced straight through the handsome man's throat!
Blood spurted out, staining the wheat grains on the ground red.
Kane stopped controlling the mage's hand and spoke calmly:
"Now it's two against one."
A vicious killing intent instantly surged in their eyes...
