Chapter 30 Physical Power Unleashed, Gunshots
Chapter 30 Physical Power Unleashed, Gunshots
That was a small hill, its lush green trees gleaming in the midday sun.
"We're here." Old Tang opened the car door, stood at the foot of the hill, and turned back. "Mingming? What's wrong?"
"No, it's nothing." Lu Mingfei shook his head when Lao Tang asked him a question, and slowly got out of the car, as if he had something on his mind and was somewhat absent-minded.
"What's wrong? Did your conversation with that girl go wrong?" Old Tang, standing a few steps away from Lu Mingfei, chuckled, giving him a knowing look. "Judging from your dejected appearance, let me guess, it's that girl named Chen Wenwen again?"
"What nonsense are you spouting?"
Lu Mingfei shook his head, his face showing neither the embarrassment of being called out nor the panic of lying. For a moment, even Old Tang was baffled: "Then who else could it be? Have you fallen for someone else?"
"You're the one who's fallen for someone else," Lu Mingfei shook his head. "Can't you just pull me out of the realm of romance?"
"Why drag him out?" Old Tang said. "Mingming, you're at the age where you're just starting to fall in love. It's normal to have feelings for someone. If you were in America, you would have been snatched away by a hot girl long ago."
"Why do I look so delicate? Or are American women just more fierce?" Lu Mingfei asked.
"Of course it's because of your appearance," Old Tang said matter-of-factly. "Some girls like melancholy young men like you with sad eyes the most, because they can't find that feeling in other men. You just happen to satisfy their desire for control."
"Um..." Lu Mingfei didn't know what to say for a moment. Why did he feel like he was a hot commodity in America? Was it because the men there were generally more muscular, making his type rare? What was the reason for that?
Is scarcity a factor in value?
"Alright, shall we go?" Old Tang looked at Lu Mingfei, who had regained his spirits, turned around and took the lead on the mountain path. The sunlight cast a long shadow behind him. "If we finish quickly, we can go eat quickly. I'm starving."
Lu Mingfei stared blankly at Lao Tang, staring at that shadow. He followed Lao Tang's steps step by step, feeling as if his feet were filled with lead. But he walked faster and faster until he caught up with Lao Tang and followed behind him.
dance to tune.
"That's true. The faster we resolve this, the easier it will be to end this quickly." Lu Mingfei feigned ease, his smile frozen on his face, but inside he felt like a heavy weight had been placed on his heart.
When the car arrived in this area, Lu Mingfei's corpse sensor had already detected an inhuman ferocity, similar to the previous Deadpool, but with a more pure quality, like a hungry wolf lurking in the deep mountains.
He knew that those were dragon-blooded creatures, hiding in the mountains like wild beasts, treating the entire mountain range as their hunting ground.
But as soon as Lao Tang opened the car door and jumped out, the thing almost instantly vanished, probably because its aura had dissipated. Like a frightened bird encountering a lion on the African savanna, it hid itself away.
Even so, Lu Mingfei couldn't be happy. The reason was simple: Old Tang's special physique was real, which made Chu Zihang's guess reasonable.
No matter how he thought about it, he felt it made no sense.
Old Tang, could this kid living in the slums be a second-generation species or even the first-generation species known as the Dragon King?
"What a joke!" Lu Mingfei subconsciously wanted to deny it, to tell himself that Old Tang just had a special constitution, and maybe it was a manifestation of his extremely high bloodline?
But he couldn't fool himself, nor could he fool the magic within him.
Magic is the manifestation of one's subconscious, a power originating from one's soul, representing one's thoughts in a certain sense. However, the magic currently circulating within the boy's body is hidden beneath his skin, subtly wary of Old Tang standing before him.
"Old Tang, do you know how to use a gun?" Lu Mingfei suddenly asked.
"Why are you asking this? Guns are illegal in this country." Old Tang thought for a moment, "I don't handle guns much, but I do have a revolver, you know, it's a necessity in the slums."
"Have you really used it?" Lu Mingfei's eyes gleamed. "The kind used on people."
"No, I wouldn't dare," Old Tang hurriedly waved his hand. "That's a human life. A gun is just a last resort. I'm not a psychopathic killer."
"Even if they rob you?"
"I won't open it then." Old Tang shook his head. "If they robbed me, so be it. Let them take it. It's not much anyway."
"Old Tang, you really seem like a good guy." Lu Mingfei looked at Old Tang's shadow. "If you don't shoot even when you're being robbed, then when should you shoot?"
"We'll shoot when the time comes, but a human life shouldn't be taken by a 7-cent bullet." Old Tang shook his head. "That's too cheap."
"Yes, it is indeed cheap." Lu Mingfei sighed, his eyes becoming complicated as he looked at Lao Tang.
"Why are you bringing this up?" Old Tang looked around and then glanced at Lu Mingfei behind him. "If you're interested in guns, I'll take you to a shooting range in America sometime."
"To Brooklyn?" Lu Mingfei asked.
"That works too. There are a few shooting clubs there. I know one with a really big range. They use copper cartridges, which are a bit expensive, but don't worry, I can let you shoot to your heart's content." After thinking for a moment, Old Tang nodded.
"I didn't realize you were so good at being a tour guide, Lao Tang. Aren't you interested in becoming one?"
"No interest. But if you'd like to go, I wouldn't mind being your tour guide and taking you on a Greyhound bus tour around America!"
"Old Tang," Lu Mingfei took a breath, "you're really a good friend of mine. Sometimes I really feel like we're quite alike."
"What, do we look alike?" Old Tang scratched his head, looked at Lu Mingfei, and then at his own hands.
"Sometimes when I look at you, it really feels like I'm looking at a re-edition of myself," Lu Mingfei said, looking into Lao Tang's eyes.
"Looks like there's something wrong with the mold." Old Tang rubbed his chin. "Could it be that the factory assembly line cut corners and smoothed out my handsome face?"
"Sounds like something I would say." Lu Mingfei couldn't help but laugh, a smile playing on his lips as he looked at Old Tang, his eyes hardening. "How much longer are we going to stay here?"
As the two talked, stepping on pine needles and decaying leaves, they practically turned the entire hill into their backyard. From the shrubs on the sunny slopes to the moss and crevices of the rocks in the shade, they even glanced at the bird nests in the trees, but they didn't notice anything unusual.
Old Tang was unaware, but Lu Mingfei was as transparent as glass; his senses were constantly locked onto the thing's trajectory. To avoid Old Tang, it would take two steps in the opposite direction for every one step the two took, like a mouse afraid of the light.
"Huh?" Lu Mingfei suddenly stopped. The mouse he sensed also stopped, and two auras stood in front of it.
They were blocked.
"Bang."
Then came a muffled thud. Before Lu Mingfei could react, Old Tang tackled him to the ground. The force was so great that Lu Mingfei could feel his taut muscles. Then he started shouting.
"Who fired the shot!"
