Chapter 08 The Legend of Davis
Chapter 08 The Legend of Davis
"Ah! I'm still alive!"
Qin Wuying sat up abruptly from the bed, turning her head repeatedly to observe her surroundings.
He was lying in a room that resembled a guest room, where the large wooden bed and wardrobe gave him a strange sense of security.
A well-dressed and elegant maid was making tea nearby.
"Mr. Qin, you're awake. I'll pour you some tea and then go inform His Excellency."
"How long was I unconscious?"
"It will probably be about two days. Everyone is very worried about you."
"Did I...did I fall from a height?"
The maid placed the brewed tea on a tray and brought it to the bedside table.
"When you fell from the sky, the Venerable One and Lord Wang caught you, and fortunately you are safe and sound."
"Oh...okay, okay." Qin Wuying raised her teacup, took a sip, and said, "Thank you."
"That's only right, please get some rest." After saying that, the maid handed Qin Wuying a note.
The note contained a string of mixed letters and numbers.
"What is this? Is it a secret code unique to Kamar-Taj?"
"No, Mr. Qin, this is the Wi-Fi password near your room."
Qin Wuying watched the maid's retreating figure as she pushed open the door and left, feeling slightly sentimental.
Although my memory is a little hazy, I believe my adventurous actions achieved their purpose.
Qin Wuying gently raised her left hand and stretched it forward.
A blue square portal opened before us, leading to a corner of a small coffee shop.
In the first few days after he transmigrated to this world, this coffee shop was his favorite place. It was inexpensive, the coffee was good, and they didn't check his identity.
"Qin, it seems you're out of danger."
"Oh! Yes, yes, I feel myself slowly waking up."
The voice of the Ancient One startled Qin Wuying. He closed the portal, threw off the covers, and tried to get out of bed.
"Ah, you don't need to get down, you can rest a little longer."
"It's nothing," Qin Wuying rubbed her temples. "I'm not that fragile."
"Regarding what happened two days ago..."
"No, no, Your Excellency, you did the right thing, that's exactly right."
Sensing that the Ancient One wanted to apologize to him, Qin Wuying waved his hand, knowing that being a superhero was never easy.
Compared to those superpowered individuals who have undergone physical and mental mutations or whose abilities only emerge after the destruction of their families, I am already very content.
Upon hearing this, a smile returned to Gu Yi's previously unsettled face.
"Come to the library once you've rested."
"Yes, Venerable One." Qin Wuying stood up and bowed to Gu Yi.
He wasn't quite familiar with the rules of Kamar-Taj yet, but he had seen this particular etiquette many times before.
Stepping into the small courtyard outside the gate, Strange was practicing an unknown spell.
One of the most relaxing design features of Kamar-Taj is that each house has its own small courtyard, which prevents it from feeling too oppressive.
"You're awake, my friend, thank goodness."
Strange raised his right eyebrow, glanced at Qin Wuying, and then continued practicing on his own.
Although he didn't say it, Strange finally felt relieved.
Qin Wuying lingered in the courtyard for a while, and besides eating some snacks, he repeatedly checked to make sure that his teleportation skill hadn't malfunctioned.
He then proceeded, led by a maid, to the library of Kamar-Taj.
Everything after waking up was pleasant—if I hadn't run into that person.
"Outlier, I don't know why the Venerable One allowed you to join, but I will keep an eye on you."
Modu stopped Qin Wuying a dozen steps away from the library.
He had a book tucked under his arm and looked like he had just come from the library.
"Can't you be even a little bit nicer?"
"Friendly? You almost killed a whole group of people, including me!"
Modu was still somewhat agitated, indicating that he had not given up on investigating the accident.
"I'm sorry, I'll control myself."
"Hmph, I think it's impossible for someone like you to change your nature."
With that, Mordo left without looking back, the sound of his boots clicking loudly.
Upon arriving at the library entrance, Master Wang, the librarian, came out to greet Qin Wuying. His kind smile made Qin Wuying feel very welcome.
Qin Wuying knew that Mo Du had something wrong with his head.
Or rather, the seemingly serious Modu actually harbors great ambitions.
Mordo was a jealous person who always felt that geniuses like Strange and Qin Wuying would steal his position.
Those who attacked Qin were simply expressing their dislike for Qin and wanting to intimidate him.
However, Qin Wuying was not buying it at all.
"You're here really early. I thought it would be a few more days."
Gu Yi took an ancient book from the bookshelf, wiped the dust off the surface with her hand, and said to Qin Wuying.
"I can't keep the Venerable One waiting for me forever."
Gu Yi waved his hand, and Master Wang and his maid withdrew.
Inside the vast library, only Qin Wuying and Gu Yi remained.
Sunlight streamed in through the window, and several beams of light combined, cascading down onto the Ancient One's shoulders like flowing water.
"This is the only book that records the story of Archmage Davist."
Gu Yi waved the ancient book in his hand. Only the Supreme Being had the right to access such confidential documents.
"And this," the Ancient One conjured up another book out of thin air—the wordless book brought by Qin Wuying, "is the Book of Speth."
"The Book of Speth...?"
“That’s right, Davist’s legacy,” Gu nodded. “Like the Book of Vishanti and the Book of Darkness, the Book of Speth also contains a large number of unique spells.”
"Then why are there no words on it? Could it be that they can only be seen with magic?"
Gu Yi remained silent, instead turning directly to the first page and handing the book to Qin Wuying.
"There are...there are words?!"
At the very top of the page was a line of small print that read, "The portal is just the beginning."
Qin Wuying was able to read the large string of incantations below, which described a method for short-distance instantaneous displacement.
It turns out Loki wasn't lying to me; I had misunderstood him.
Qin Wuying continued reading, only to find that the other pages after the first page still had no ink marks.
"What's going on? Could it be that the following chapters are VIP chapters and require payment?"
However, if it really is a paid viewing option, that's fine. You don't need to spend so much effort; you can just pay to watch it.
Even if all else fails, watching a few guys will do.
But then again, it would take twenty years of reading to unlock this level of book.
Let's forget about it then, it's too much of a torment.
"That's one of Magister Davis's quirks: you have to learn the first page before you can get to the second."
Qin Wuying looked up and saw Gu Yi smiling at him.
"That's fine," Qin Wuying thought. "At least this is a relatively reasonable way to make progress."
Next, after learning a transformation spell on the spot, Qin Wuying turned the Book of Speth into a ring and wore it on the index finger of his left hand.
It's like a ring that belongs exclusively to you.
Having resolved the issue of the blank book given to him by Loki, Qin Wuying suddenly had a clear understanding and clarified his next goal.
As long as you learn page by page, you will eventually become a powerful mage.
Filled with hope for the future, Qin Wuying walked out of the library with Gu Yi.
At the door, a young girl dressed in casual clothes was waiting anxiously.
It's worth noting that in Kamar-Taj, almost everyone wears cloth and robes; everyday clothing is quite rare.
Therefore, Qin Wuying curiously turned her head to take a look—
She has long, beautiful light brown hair, delicate and lovely features, and a shapely figure.
"Ah, you're that scoundrel!"
Upon seeing Qin Wuying, the girl shouted loudly.
