Chapter 613 Black Liquid

Chapter 613 Black Liquid

Blue emerged from her pocket, her tiny form glowing with a comforting light as she hovered in front of JJ's face. "You still have so much ahead of you—your dreams, whatever they might be. You just need to keep pushing forward, even if it's tough."

JJ looked up at the fairy, a small smile forming despite herself. Blue's wings fluttered, and her eyes shone with determination. A few fragmented memories flashed before JJ's mind—Blue, during the chaos at the cave, the sudden power surge, the guards collapsing in a flurry of magic and confusion.

"Thanks, Blue." JJ's voice was shaky, her eyes glistening as she took a deep breath. "I... I wanted to tell you something, but I didn't know how." She hesitated, trying to find the words, her fingers curling into the fabric of her pillow. "At the caves, you saved me. You killed those guards. You saved my life."

Blue's glow dimmed, her wings folding slightly as she hovered closer. "Wh-what? I did?" She tilted her tiny head, her face scrunching in confusion. "I don't remember..."

JJ reached up, her fingers brushing against Blue's tiny form. "You were incredible. I owe you my life." Her voice trembled, the weight of the admission settling between them. For a moment, Blue didn't respond, her tiny frame still in JJ's hand.

Before either of them could say more, a strange sensation swept through JJ. Her body felt weightless, the bed beneath her shifting as if it had turned to liquid. Panic surged through her veins, her eyes widening as she felt herself sinking—falling.

"JJ?!" Blue squealed, her voice echoing with alarm. She darted around frantically, her tiny hands reaching for JJ's arm. She managed to grab on, her wings fluttering madly as she tried to pull JJ back up.

"Let's get ready for a fight!" Blue urged, her voice trembling slightly.

JJ swallowed hard, shaking her head. "Blue... I don't think this is a fight I can win," she muttered, her voice cracking. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, and faced General Osalf. "Hello, General... Do I get any final words before I'm killed?"

General Osalf chuckled, the sound echoing through the chamber. "No, nothing like that. We are far from killing you. If we wanted you dead, we would have taken care of that in the alley, when that man attacked you and you crushed his skull. But that's beside the point." He leaned back, his expression softening slightly. "JJ, we need your help, and we believe you're the only one who can provide it."

"How could I possibly help you?" she asked, her voice dripping with disbelief. "I promise, we aren't as evil as we may seem."

JJ's eyes narrowed. "You killed Lt Daemon, bombed the streets, and planted chaos-inducing devices. You expect me to believe you're not evil?" She shook her head, tears threatening to spill. "I could list everything you've done if you'd like."

Blue hovered closer to JJ's ear, whispering urgently, "If you said you can't win, why are you egging him on?"

JJ ignored her, her eyes fixed on General Osalf. "Why should I help you after everything you've done?" Her voice trembled, and she could feel the hot tears spilling over, trailing down her cheeks.

In a heartbeat, Old General Osalf was right in front of her. JJ hadn't even seen him move. He leaned in, his presence looming over her, and she could feel his breath as he spoke. "Because, if you don't, there will be much, much more bloodshed. This kingdom is built on the bodies of the innocent, and they continue to pile up. There's something much darker going on behind these yearly tournaments, something we aim to uncover. But that part is our task. What we need you for is... unique."
