Chapter 622 In-depth Planetary Exploration
Chapter 622 In-depth Planetary Exploration
Filled with trepidation about the unknown yet with unwavering determination, Lin Yu and his two companions ventured deeper into the planet. The surrounding environment grew increasingly harsh; howling winds whipped through the air, and sand and gravel flew like projectiles, striking their protective suits with a resounding thud. Thick clouds hung low, almost touching the ground, shrouding the entire world in darkness.
"This awful weather, I can't see anything," Xiao Wang complained, his flashlight swaying wildly in the wind, the light scattered haphazardly. Lin Yu patted him on the shoulder, "Stop complaining, concentrate, we need to find the entrance to the planet's interior as soon as possible."
The three walked along a winding canyon, its sides lined with towering, strangely shaped rocks that seemed to have been sculpted by an invisible hand. As Ellie walked, she kept a close eye on her surroundings, the detection device in her hand humming softly.
"Wait, I think I've detected some unusual energy fluctuations ahead." Ellie suddenly stopped, her face lighting up with excitement. Lin Yu and Xiao Wang immediately gathered around, their eyes filled with anticipation.
"What exactly is going on?" Lin Yu asked anxiously. Ellie carefully examined the data on the device. "The energy fluctuations are very weak, but the frequency is very stable. It seems to be coming from underground. Maybe we're close to finding the entrance."
They quickened their pace, heading towards the direction of the energy fluctuations. As they drew closer, the energy fluctuations grew stronger, and a massive stone gate appeared before them. The gate's surface was covered with intricate patterns and symbols, similar to those they had seen on the walls of the building before, but even more refined and mysterious.
"This is it." Lin Yu reached out and touched the stone door, feeling the ancient aura emanating from it. He carefully studied the patterns on the door, trying to find a way to open it. However, no matter how he tried, the stone door remained unmoved.
"Looks like it won't be that easy to open," Xiao Wang said, frowning. Just then, Ellie noticed a groove next to the stone door, its shape very similar to a crystal fragment they had found on the spaceship earlier.
"Lin Yu, look at this groove. Could it be related to the crystal fragment we found?" Ellie said, taking the crystal fragment out of her pocket. Lin Yu's eyes lit up. "Very likely. Let's give it a try."
Ellie carefully placed the crystal fragment into the groove. Instantly, the symbols on the stone door emitted a faint light and began to slowly rotate. Accompanied by a muffled rumble, the stone door slowly opened, and an ancient and mysterious aura rushed out.
"We did it!" Xiao Wang shouted excitedly. The three of them walked through the stone gate, which led to a long passage. The walls were inlaid with glowing gems, illuminating the path ahead. There were occasional forks in the path on both sides, but Ellie's detection equipment showed that only the passage directly ahead had strong energy fluctuations.
They continued along the passage when suddenly, a low roar came from ahead, as if some enormous creature had been awakened from its slumber. The three immediately stopped and gripped their weapons warily.
"What's that sound?" Xiao Wang asked in a low voice, a hint of nervousness in his voice. Lin Yu gestured for everyone to be quiet, then cautiously walked forward. After turning a corner, they saw a huge cave. In the center of the cave was a massive creature, its entire body covered in hard scales that emitted a ghostly blue light. Its enormous eyes were tightly closed, as if it were asleep.
"What kind of monster is this?" Ellie asked in surprise. Lin Yu carefully observed the creature. "Whatever it is, let's be careful and try not to wake it. Let's go around it."
The three held their breath and cautiously made their way to the other side of the cave. However, just as they were about to exit the cave, Xiao Wang accidentally stepped on a rock, the sound of it rolling echoing through the cave. The sleeping creature was awakened; it slowly opened its eyes and let out a deafening roar, shaking the entire cave.
"Not good, run!" Lin Yu shouted, and the three of them turned and ran towards the passage. The creature was hot on their heels, moving incredibly fast and closing the distance in an instant. Lin Yu turned back and fired, trying to stop the creature's pursuit, but the bullets struck its hard scales, only creating sparks and having no effect.
In this perilous passage, will they be able to shake off the pursuit of this mysterious creature and successfully find the energy source deep within the planet?
